Tanky Ele not so tanky if you go with “null field”…
For me it is more an issue of the “melee” specs that need to use the melee range phantasms getting the shaft while the ranged specs who would likely be taking less damage and kiting get more frequent healing and protection…makes not sense from a design perspective.
I actually like the new mechanic…can be used as a “mini blink” when running away. Also has great synergy with blink as you can Phase Regreat-> Blink to get a good deal of distance between you and your opponent(s) when kiting. I do agree about the added difficulty when using it with a combo field, but hardly ability breaking…just depends on the situation.
Yes they stack (on the phantasms) for a total of 30%…clones are only affected by Empowered illusions for 15%.
The bonus damage/defense traits apply only to the mesmer.
Illusions do count as “allies” so they would be affected be any effects that are applied to allies.
I just verified by testing in the mists that “Phantasmal Healing” cast frequency differs a great deal between phantasms. This in turn affects “Illusory Membrane” if you have that trait as well.
For example, create a config that uses staff and pistol. Trait 15 in both Chaos and Inspiration to get Illusory Membrane and Phantasmal Healing.
Now find a Heavy target dummy and cast Phantasmal Warlock only and stand right next to it. See how often you get the boons. let the Warlock die. Now switch to the pistol weapon set and cast only the Illusionary Duellist. Look how much more often you get the boons. I have tried this with all the phantasms and the melee ones seem to cast it the least (Warden for example).
Need clarification if this is working as intended…
Today I ran into a group doing matches that was all mesmers. That in itself is not a big deal, but here is the kick. they all had names that were “illusionary ****” or some spelling permutation. They also had gear setups to match the mesmer phantasm. Once the battle began, you can image the sheer number of clones and phantasms on the field. Finding the real deal was near impossible.
I know phantasms have that ether ghost look to them, so that was not the issue, still, seems those names should be reserved by the system.
Well, in the grand scheme of things, I don’t mind the “buy gems” to save time farming model. In WoW, you only had the option of spending Money(renewing your sub) AND Time(spending the next two months farming content) to farm rate mats…
Make no mistake though, they are walking a fine line by charging real $$ for imaginary items that they control the supply of and cost them $0 to create. But again, time is money, so spending real $$ to save real time is a good option for those that can afford the money but not the time.
The problem with this model is that they are artificially upping the demmand for those who craft to make use of the excessive supply being created for those who don’t.
If gathering had a greater cost associated with it (both time and money) this would not be an issue. For example, if a top tier Harvesting Axe cost 1G and havesting 3 logs took 30 seconds, this problem would go away.
As it is now, what they are doing is making it so crafters cannot be self-sustaining without a time-sink or buying gems. It may be that this is good for the overall economy from a trade perspective…time will tell, but increasing resource requirements by 100% is pretty steep.
illusions also take on the the “proc” stats for weapon sigil…so a sigil of earth would grant the iDuelest and clones you create while using the pistlol the 60% bleed proc.
Yup, marking for sure breaks the class…especially at high level play. The mechanic should work just like stealth. As long as a clone is alive, the target should go away, once all clones are killed, the target can come back.
Imagine the whining we would get on the thief forum if target stayed above stealth toons!
Still many bugs with illusions not getting passive abilities and signets as well…the class really needs some tweeks, but should be viable once these things are corrected.
