We’re still looking into this.
skullfaerie can you pm me your system specs if this is still happening please? Thanks.
We will have a few in house so I can let you know how it works out once we get them set up.
Thanks JustTrogdor.
This is all good thank you. We continue to test against this. Are we getting closer? I think we are but I have nothing exciting to report.
Hi, it’s Friday, I’m here again to say we are aware of this issue and it is currently in testing. I will update this forum when we think we have it fixed. Thanks.
We’ll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
Gavian, is there anything I can do to reduce the lockedRect.pbits error from occurring? It’s pretty disheartening to wait through a queue of 50 people only to crash after 20 minutes in the middle of what was supposed to be an epic fight.
Had that twice tonight.
Graphic settings attached for reference.
The best thing is just getting the data from you guys in this thread and keeping this thread updated. We have three different groups working on this and coordinating with each other on it. Cold comfort I know but we are trying to run it down.
Hi all, this is a known issue for us and something we are working on but I don’t have any exciting news for this yet.
Hi, I just dropped in to say that tickets are really important to us – they are one of the ways the dev team is able to get more detail about an issue and allow us to run down a fix. We appreciate the time people take to fill them out, so thank you for that.
Since I know someone will ask, we have continued to work on these issues but I have nothing exciting to report yet. Thanks.
This is going to be one of those posts that will not make anyone happy but I wanted to let you all know that we are continuing to work on these issues. The production team, engineering and QA have spent the week on these issues and will continue to do so.
Hi, my name is Gavian and I am the head of production for ArenaNet and I am also a Mac user. I am enjoying the discussion of various development methedologies, and that is something I could talk about endlessly, but I wanted to drop in and let you know what we are doing on the Mac.
Our current focus, like what we are doing right now, is reproducing Mac specific bugs and issues we see reported on the forums and working towards fixes. I will say that it is heartening to see everyone here helping each other out and it helps us out as well.
As has been pointed out, we do have a Mac specific client, it just happens to be using Cider.
We will try and post more to keep you in the loop about issues we had addressed that are Mac specific.
As a side note, for development methedology we use a number of different approaches, depends what the team make up is and what we are trying to accomplish.
Thanks!
Thanks for the update, Gavian. I have a couple of questions if you’re still around.
Are you guys working on the issue where the game crashes from running out of memory at large events as this guy shows here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Client-Crash/first#post4360855

This is sort of a big deal since the client consistently crashes in large scale events and, with megaservers, that is almost every world boss. Also, it makes wvw impossible to enjoy. Thanks!
We are still looking into this – we are actively trying to recreate it in a bunch of different ways. I know it is annoying.
Hi Chris,
Some of us have been facing stuttering/spiking FPS issues since the Sept patch. Wonder if you could look into it and let us know if it’s something on your side that can be fixed? Or if it’s a graphics card compatibility thing? Unchecking Hi-Res Textures doesnt resolve it.
We are definately looking into these. I am very happy they are posted in the tech support section, makes it a lot easier to round up the info. Thanks!
Hi all, as some of you rightly point out, Lacey isn’t responsible for QA, she is Technical Support, which is a different department from QA. We do QA on the Mac specifically and nothing is shipped without QA testing and oversight. We do, as you know, still have challenges.
We do this a lot internally but you may be interested in knowing that compatibility QA (essentially Mac QA) is reviewing the forums, the crash logs and the information Lacey is gathering and they’re creating bugs, which the Producer for the Mac is reviewing with the relevant teams. Sometimes bugs are Mac specific, sometimes they are not and we have to determine which is which.
I mentioned in another thread that it is very helpful that the community is so strong here in helping each other out, it helps us hunt down the issues as well. Also you may be interested, I think it was asked in a different thread, that yes we are testing against Yosemite as well.
Thank you.
Hi JSSPH, I wanted to let you know and others affected we are tyring to repro this crash in house. Awesome, thank you for the link as well.
