Can’t say I’m sorry to see Daish go.

Never thought he would do anything positive for SoS, but by transferring off the server and screwing up our enemies wvw zones, that works in our favour.

Just block him now, the faster you do, the faster peace of mind comes. That way you’ll never see the idiotic commands and ideas he spews, or the ridiculous comments.

‘players on shut down maps…’

So, there’s a new loading screen when leaving the spawn area in WvW and you get teleported from the top of the steps at the exit to 30 ft past the defenders at the bottom of the steps.

I don’t see the difference if this is intended. You’ve simply moved ppl from point a (inside and safe) to point b (outside and not safe) via a loading screen where they can be hit pretty much right away with no idea if anyone is out there camping the spawn or not. It’s actually worse, i.e.: less safe.

Is this the new implementation meant to help players leave the spawn area safely? Hopefully not, and it’s a bug.

1) I can’t run back into the spawn area. You’ve effectively cut off anyone in combat from getting back in, since now you need to map to go back up the stairs at the front of the spawn area.

2) Several ppl tonite have so far have been stuck at the loading screen and are forced to restart client, and then re-queue for wvw yada yada yada. Not very nice.

In effect, it’s a (imo) terrible solution…and hopefully this was not what you had in mind and it’s a bug. I agree, player camping at spawn in is cheap, and it sucks when you are the one being camped. It’s also something that happens in pvp unfortunately. I’d rather you just left it alone. Players always have the option to go somewhere else instead of being camped, or you know, can take one of the side exits instead of running out the front door.

Are mesmer portals bypassing walls in WvW an exploit or not?

“Exploiting zerghead stupidity is not an exploit. Yet.”

That’s the next step for next generation mmo’s: Pvping made easy. No thinking necessary. Insert sword into slot for 2 billion xp.

In game support?

Why is there is no in game support? You know, a CSR or whatever you want to call that role, where we can submit a report or a bug and actually get a human being to talk to about the problem*.

*most problems right now extend around exploits in pvp, and if we had someone to contact asap who could see the evidence or at least check into it right on the spot, and then you know, ban thekittencheater, that would be great.

Wow. We weren’t sandbagging anything. I think the worst we can be accused of during the dailies is not caring.

When the match changed from 1 day to 1 week, we got slightly more organized, but the biggest difference was spending coin. On more siege gear, on keep upgrades. We didn’t do much of that during the dailies, but once it mattered more, keep upgrades were done quickly. Yeah, it makes a huge difference, but you probably wouldn’t know about that since it seems your server doesn’t bother with stuff like that.

We’ve moved up 5 spots or so in the rankings – not a huge leap really. And it’s just as much your fault as it is ours. Both servers – Darkhaven and Anvil Rock – basically gave up before last weekend as up once we had 3 orbs behind upgraded keeps. Fighting was at best sporadic even in prime time during the week, and neither server had anything really resembling an organized threat.

We have Gates of Madness this week. They are going to destroy us probably. They’ve already use their ‘techniques’ to capture our Orb due to player culling. Not nice when invisible enemies kill you and your ballista in 3 seconds without you even being able to see them. But there are a lot of them and they are organized – something Dark and Anvil aren’t.

Instead of pointing the finger and blaming us for ‘sandbagging’ (LOL) how about you look at you and your server mates performance this week and accept that you didn’t bring it very well.

When will free world transfers be disabled? *Edited by moderator. Staff call-out*

Honestly, I don’t understand why you have transfers at all right now in regards to WvW.

Server matchups still need to be looked at and changed in the majority of cases, but how can you trust any kind of matchup data you get when the population is constantly shifting from players transferring all over the place?

I know the server where I play (Yak’s) we’ve had 2 major influxes of transfers so far, simply from being the highest scoring server for a couple days over a weekend. So, while we seem to be doing better lately than we were, this week long victory is also tainted as there are less enemies to fight. Not only have those enemies transferred to Yak’s but they’ve left our two enemy servers for other places as well.

So how useful is the match up we are currently in and how valuable is the data you are getting (scores etc) in the match up in determining future match ups? Probably pretty useless if a good chunk of the wvw’ing population transfers off a losing server after one bad day.

Just shut down the transfer for a couple months (at least) and let the server matchups issue work itself out without needlessly complicating the issue any further.

Repairing armor in WvW cost way too much!

Not sure on a personal level where the complaints are coming from. I repair several times a night. I still come out wayyy ahead in terms of coin. Even after buying probably 20 25 silver of siege a night. Last night, after repairs and siege spending, I was still up somewhere around 45 to 50 silver. Which is pretty typical in my experience.

There needs to be some penalty for dying. Repair costs seem to be it.

I’m not very happy with the situation either. Stacking orb bonuses seem a bit op’d to me (although hopefully it is hitting home to everyone exactly how important they are).

I don’t enjoy camping enemy spawns either. That’s no fun.

I am not sure what exactly happened – I’m a prime time est player, and am usually in bed by midnight. I guess we have a late night presence that went around and took everything. Can’t do much to change that. From a purely selfish standpoint, Yak’s was having a lot of issues when we had the 1 day matchups and it’s nice to see us banding together, spending coin on upgrades etc when it matters.

I think without the Yak’s late night crew, the server matching is fairly good. There have been some good fights here and there…but I’m sure both you and Anvil Rock are tired of dashing yourselves against upgraded keep walls bristling with siege. I sure would be.

Keep plugging away and good luck. Maybe if we get another week at this, things will be different.

Yak's Bend WvW Coordination Thread

Few things:

A) we did well in the first few days against two servers that really didn’t ‘have it’. We then had a massive amount of players transfer over from one of those servers. Hopefully those players are dedicated, and will learn as they play, but early indications – the last couple weeks – are that this is either not happening at all, or in at best, happening slowly.

B) There have been a lot of transfers out, namely to larger servers that have more wins and a better ranking. Many of these transfers are what I will term as ‘pvp aware’ players.

A + B = in general… a dilution of the player base. Again, things will get better, but it will take time.

C) Upgrades: now that matches are going on for longer than a day, hopefully we’ll see more players willing to spend coin on keep upgrades.

Comments on some of our problems on Yaks:

1) People need to be better at prioritizing:
What’s the most important object on any WvW map? The Orb. (really…that’s all the matters). In general: too many players ignore Orb defence when we have it, and ignore taking the steps to gain the Orb when we don’t. If the Orb is being held in the Eastern keep, don’t be screwing around needlessly on the west side.

On Orb defence:

As soon as we lose one of our keeps on our WvW world, you basically need to boogie north to our Orb and get ready to defend. Bring supply, and ballistas. Put the ballistas up at the Orb. That zerg that’s coming to take our Orb is going to be big….you really can’t be screwing around somewhere else (unless it’s a small group retaking the keep we lost before it’s upgraded).

2) You can’t upgrade anything without a decent supply line:

So our current strategy of taking a keep (if we manage it), taking the closest supply depots to that keep and then moving onto the next keep need to change.

Certainly, take the keep. Take the depots. Don’t immediately run off to the next target… guard the depot. Guard the keep. Wait for the upgrades to be finished. (Yes, it’s boring, but it’s a necessity).

Once the walls and gates have been reinforced, and cannons are up (and that takes awhile) you can start thinking about the next objective on the map.

3) Taking keeps.

Just for once, I’d love to see us actually hold and retain supply depots around the targeted keep before we make an attempt on the keep. You know, when that keep has no supply, it does mean we face less siege on the way in

Also, I see this almost every night at the western keep. Knock down an inner wall, congregate on the docks and get pounded by a bajillion arrow carts and ballistas.

WRONG.

Absolutely, congregate on the docks. Let them put up their arrow carts and ballistas. Once they are up, move to a different gate and use the rams (that being smart, you didn’t put up on the dock gate) there instead. Sure, they can re-deploy siege, if they want to spend the coin and have supply. Eventually – assuming we followed step #1 and cut off supply – they’ll run out of wood.

Really, it’s just patience and baby steps. Organization will help, but players need to listen first, think second, and third make good decisions, and I’m not seeing a lot of that right now. Again, that will change hopefully. I think we have a ‘young’ player base in terms of pvp smarts and awareness, and that will get better as more and more players figure things out.

By all means, if someone wants to takes the reigns, go for it. We need it. I’ll promise support if whoever does that doesn’t turn out to be an idiot (opinion subject to change without notice, e. & o. e.)
