And so I get to second part of my little rant. Living Story.
At first it felt fresh and nice. New content, yay! New skins, new stuff.
But then, it became a chore, unfriendly to new players, barely enough to bother unless you slap our faces with shiny things like gas mask (which would be really nice if you made like AP rewards. Get it, reclaim it as skin. Whenever).
I was trying to get my roommate to play your game again. She left before living story became a thing and just got new laptop, solid MSI, quad core, stuff that can handle the best thing gaming industry has to offer (and the worst, too, considering where is game industry going) and she didn’t because she didn’t understand anything.
While living story is nice, now it’s just… Ongoing train of… What exactly? I can’t even tell. I feel one after another, living story is getting cheaper and weaker. And while you can’t go back and take it away, you can still stop it.
I don’t know if you’re planning or making an expansion, but I personally think that is the direction that you should be going now. You did the living story, you achieved what noone else has. But it’s getting long, old and chore-ish now. New players don’t like living story because mostly they have no clue what is going on. Old players that’d come back are put off by it, because while it’s nice, it’s really nothing new. Expansion, true new content, like Factions and so on in last Guild Wars, would hit the spot I think. New players would get to it and it wouldn’t be slapped in their faces like newspaper in foreign language, and old players who left would come back to see, explore, finish it.
And that’s all about what I wanted to say. I have more to say, you can keep reading. But right here, at this point, the main rant ends.
…
So what’s next? Things that I still would like to see. That I may or may not have put forward before. Things like proper one sword one pistol one animations when you don’t use second weapon. Ability to turn of guild symbol on guild things. Costumes that go over armor and not just hundreds of new skins (yeah, I’d still like to wear phantom hood over armor, or get back Grenth costume from GW1 for nice cape). Or you know, something new and shiny. Guild halls. Maybe some improvements to Hall of Monuments (Like making it house area instead of our story area and making it availible to everyone without those skins) or maybe making it account area. For which we could buy merchant, bank access, that kind of stuff.
And I’m left with just things I’d like to know. Yes or no things.
Player interactive animations? (aka hug n stuff?)
More instruments? (guitar versions, bass, violin? keyboard?)
Skin wardrobes? (upon completing a skin-set then unlocking by gems maybe? but after unlocking with gems, availible to whole account of no fee?)
That’s all for now. If you read this, then thanks for reading! If you agree, or not agree, post below why, or maybe put your own thoughts. Whatever.
