Trading Post not working since last update

I have had this problem over and over. I have tried everything I can find. I’ve patched, deleted temps, over and over again. Actually got it to work 2-3 times. Submitted a ticket. Nothing. It must be karma telling me GW2 isn’t for me. Everything else works, but not Black Lion Trading Company. Real buzz kill. Can’t even spend RL $ for gems, for gold, for goods. You’d think someone would make this a priority.
DISCLAIMER: I’m very new to GW2, I’m making a statement about something I know very little about. I’m doing that to hopefully learn a few things about the game w/ some constructive discussion. Please feel free to correct/point out any assumption and/or ignorance.
EVE Online has something similar to this in ‘hi-sec’ space. For those unfamiliar, hi-sec is a part of the game where none consensual PvP requires sacrifice on the aggressor when done outside some in-game mechanics. The EVE mechanic of War Declarations allow corps (guilds) to do effectively what OP suggests, declare a timed war on another for ISK (gold). The time is one week. Each week the declarer can stop, or pay up for another week. And yes, typically the aggressed typically don’t like it, but it does add an element of game play that is actually more fun than you’d think.
I don’t completely understand dynamic events, so I’ll be the first to admit to not understanding the ramifications on that point.
To the point of camping banks and/or TP, there are mechanics in GW2 to get around that. Or, and this more likely a rule to be used for technical limitations, major hubs are off-limits to warring. Perhaps it would be only allowable out in the ‘open areas’
As far as everyone being lvl 80 in a GvG, as I understand it, the game scales chars down the area. Why not go with that? Again, I’m ignorant of ramifications.
To the point of chars joining/dropping/representing a guild during war, that is something ‘carebears’ in EVE will drop and reform to avoid. If GvG declarations had a spin up time, the time it takes from aggressor declaring and war staring, there’s a mechanic in place to do this.
My final point I’ll concede that, yes, this can lead to MAJOR griefing without proper mechanics & balances.
If done well with the right balances, this could be fun, interesting & and add an interesting new twist in a game that already has interesting new twists.
Hope I didn’t offend, as that wasn’t my desire. I’m new, but hoping to be here for the long run. I’ve enjoyed my short time here.
-Cheers
Greetings!
I’m a very new GW2 player, started Monday, January 13th. I currently have 1 level 13 Human Engineer. So far, I’m really enjoying what I have explored, which is about 85 of the starter area and a little of Divinity’s Reach. Naturally, I’m here looking for a guild to join.
What I’m looking for is a guild that
Socially:
- Has people in the Eastern Time zone in the evenings and weekends. I typically play in the range of 6pm to 11pm on weekdays and I’m all over the board on weekends.
- In other MMOs, I’ve enjoyed ‘guilds’ that have about 10 to about 40 people on on average. This is a guideline, as I don’t want to alone all the time or see so much guild-chat, it’s impossible to get to know any one.
- I’m a father, so a more mature group is desired. Not a hard 18+, but where drama and teen angst are kept to a minimum.
- I have a son, 15, who enjoys MMOs with me and may want to try GW2 and would most likely like to join as well if he does. When playing on-line, I (and other adults he’s played with) consider him to be mature enough to fit into my above criteria.
- One that puts real-life above game. More on that below.
- One that fosters it’s on ‘micro-community’, if that makes sense.
- Doesn’t require voice-comms, as RL doesn’t always allow for that.
In-game:
- I’m currently playing on Jade Quarry so that’s preferred. I would need to check into server transfers.
- I enjoy solo and group PvE mostly. I like to do my own thing from time to time but also enjoy group runs. I do have up to 4 kids at home, one with special needs, so I can’t always commit. When I do, I make sure RL has a very good chance of not interrupting me.
- Crafting. I do like to craft in games, so that ‘new player assistance’ noob crafters sometimes need would be appreciative.
- Questions. I sometimes like to ask in-game, or at least ask for clarification, when something is new. Games are so dynamic that sometimes googlekittencan take you only so far.
- PvP, I typically don’t play PvP in other MMOs, but I really want to step out-side my comfort zone. I’m sure I suck at it, but as I get used to the game, I do want to try PvP out. The WvWvW does look like it has potential.
What I can provide:
- I’m a pretty fast learner, so I’m hoping to help out newer players ASAP.
- Crafting. Once I’ve got it figured out and established, I’m always happy to pay it forward and help others craft stuff when I can.
- I’m a alt-a-holic. I enjoy different play styles, so I will probably try different races/classes as I progress as a player.
- Potential PvP fodder.
If you think I’d be a good fit, email me in game. Thanks for reading!
TL;DR – Looking for typical laid back, medium sized group. RL > game is a must. Solo/group PVE, crafting, some PvP.
