My problem is that there will be long periods of time in which it just plain doesn’t do anything. No buff icon, no nothing. I too am a thief, so maybe there’s a connection there. I have one Superior Sigil of Leeching on each weapon set, with the other 2 remaining sigils being Luck and Agony. Could these be interfering?
what my thief brings to the table is ‘dungeon bosses, whispering me and begging me to slow things down’ my thief has 3000 pow 47 crit % 14.5k hp. everyones like a moa to me.
with the right group, a thief can be jesus.
With full exotics and traits I believe you can only get to 2164 Power, not including runes. There’s slight exaggeration and then there’s bull crap.
Another Venomous Aura question concerns the duration. Is this also based on the attacker’s stats and does the +33% duration from Potent Poison get inherited from the thief?
the problem with blind in pve is that things that can be blinded it will not matter for, and things that it would matter for blind = 10% miss chance.
the only time blind is useful for PvE is maybe for trash in a group with no real tanky type builds that can take some damage.
If you’re saying only skills for single-target bosses are worth anything, then you’re saying all AoEs and CC in the game are worthless as well. I used Blind today on the Jade Maw’s tentacles which hit everyone around for a ton of damage otherwise.
When all stacks are removed, the next CC will affect the boss, and the Defiant stacks will come back.
Ah, they come BACK. So basically, in a group of 5 people, every 6th CC attempt will work. The first 5 remove his defiant stacks, the 6th one lands, 5 stacks come back, rinse and repeat. Can someone confirm this?
All those AoE blinds really add up in terms of defense. Mobs don’t fight like players in the way that they do one big attack around every 3 or 4 seconds. If those attacks hit for 4,000 damage, then four mobs missing their attacks saves some 16,000 damage. How many other skills/boons can help more than that?
The bad : D/D has no AoE dps
I just had to dispute this one item. Death blossom is an amazing AoE with a kill radius roughly the same size as Shadow Refuge. If your thief has its condition duration boosted and your condition damage up to say, a 100-tick bleed, then each Death Blossom deals around 5500 damage per mob. Popping 4 Death Blossoms on 5 enemies at the start of the fight is a quick 110,000 damage dealt.
Dual pistol is nice compliment to your melee, but isn’t great as a primary. Most bosses provide for the tactic of a thief getting in melee range for a short time, burning his initiative quickly, and then falling back to heal up with pistols. The stealth pistol attack is huge. Use it with Hide in Shadows, Blinding Powder, and Shadow Refuge(steal health), and then you’re back to full health and initiative and ready to go in again.
The illusion of knowledge is your worst enemy.
Other groups have dealt with the dredge boss without much issue, so you’re clearly missing something~
The first poster showed they have good knowledge of the fight while you’ve contributed nothing but your fortune cookie wisdom. There are no secrets to this fight, and while some breeze through, for others it’s the hardest fractal moment. Since nobody can solo this boss, we all will eventually be part of one of the latter groups unless you run with the same 4 people every time. That’s what you’re missing.
I agree with the original post. This boss gives certain groups a lot of trouble. It obviously favors more sturdy players, but the big problem has to do with condition damage. Only the damage dealt while he’s superheated really counts and I believe only the direct damage gets boosted. So many of us have condition builds and use ranged skills that are mostly condition damage. Forget the bleeds and burns and find your skill that’s direct.
I’ll also add that using immobilizers and traps at the pour spots works great.
1.Adjust the time you are in stealth with the downed state #3. It is something like, one second. Completely useless in any situation, PVE or PVP.
I thought so, too, but then I realized you can use it to disrupt stomps. Just gotta start it when their wind-up starts.
The 2-second stealth is just long enough to use the #1 stealth attack skill called Venomous Knife. It puts on 3 stacks of 8-second bleed and 8 seconds of poison, which comes to around 4000 damage on a condition build.
Stealth Finishers need to be fixed. No other class can stealth finish, they are brought out of stealth as they start doing it. It creates an unfair advantage that allows thieve players to ignore the one function that allows you to counter such a thing. I am not saying nerf stealth, I am simply saying when your in stealth if you start a finisher you should be brought out of it regardless.
Not sure what you’re saying here. Every finisher and every attack breaks stealth. In stealth, the thief can be attacked but cannot attack others without coming out of it. It adds to the thief’s elusiveness, which is one of it’s greatest assets. A moving/disappearing target presents a big problem for some players and small problem for everyone when the thief is in a crowd, but hey, at least they don’t mesmeriZerg.
To be honest, when I crunched the numbers on Dancing Dagger it was just too good to be true. We got more damage per initiative than most of the melee range skills. However, cutting the damage in half was overkill. I’ve never seen an update chop down a skill so harshly.
I’m not Arena Net, I’m just some random Joe speculating here. I’m guessing there’s a master list for bugs. The ones that are checked to be “Blocking Progress” go right to the top and get immediate attention. The others get organized by how many people report the same bug. A lot of the same report show that the problem is real and is bothering a lot of people, and so gets moved up the list. Reports that stand alone in their claim need to be verified and since they can’t always recreate the issue for themselves then they assume the report is a mistake, which many times is the truth.
I’m guessing they have not deleted your report, it’s just that the issue you describe has not been reported very much. I have noticed that my thief’s weapon’s aren’t always visible, but it depends on what I’m wearing. It didn’t bother me so much to make a report. My report is on the thief’s broken traits and is a few lines up from yours. Maybe you could verify that and back me up as well.
I feel really screwed by the time constraints on these Phases that just got dropped on us last second. Correct me if I’m wrong, but all we were told leading up to this is when the whole thing started and when the event on Sunday began. I got to the bugged point and had to stop, came back the next day, and hello, I’m locked out. I appreciate some suspense leading up to new content, but PLEASE tell us more in the pre-release patch notes so we can prepare for it.
