You know my Guardian has a largely Spirit Weapon based build. I loved these things and… I did think they were a bit OP but I didn’t think it was game-breaking. I actually named one of them because of how often I used it and how integral it was to my performance in battle. (Sword of Justice, his name is Chaltier.) I’m a support!Guardian so I used the sword to supplement the DPS I didn’t do. Somehow or another I seem to have ended up with legitimate feelings for this thing because I feel like my favorite character has just been killed. I feel like an idiot too because seriously it’s just a Sword summon, it’s not even an actual character. It’s not even really dead either it just can die. I really hope things turn out well and they’re still applicable because they were probably my favorite part of this class. (Aside from boons and heals) So let’s try to think positive! Maybe now they’ll function like Ranger pets or something like that? I’m hoping they’ll be more like pets than phantasms because if these guys start dropping like flies, they’ll need some serious tweaks.

Also, heck yes! Empower fix is wonderful.

Punished for lack of hand/eye coordination

GW2 Dungeons put up a brick wall if some of the players struggle in fast paced twitch gaming. No amount of coaching, practice and encouragement will help a group with below average skill players through GW2 dungeons…

… Since I managed to pull a bunch of dungeon nooblets of fairly subpar skill through a dungeon by simply telling them the strategy, do I count as some sort of dungeon Jesus… or perhaps dungeon Moses? I mean, they died a lot but they were also in very high spirits…

Guardian ranged options

I personally main Staff/Scepter w/shield and get good use out of all of the skills on them so this is a non-issue to me.
The Guardian aesthetic is very shiny and magical so rifles would either be out of place or completely ridiculous. I can, however, see bow-wielding guardians that shoot magic arrows. That would also make it so that we can wield all of the foefire weapons.

Full Heal guardian build?

My main is a Cleric Armor runed with Altruism runes healing/spirit weapon guardian. Her build is 30 in power (I use Sword of Justice to supplement DPS I’m not doing, may redirect these points to toughness for that one trait that heals when you give boons) 20 in healing and 20 in Virtues. She’s extremely useful to parties and supplements heals very well while even doing pretty decent damage. I survive with ease in Orr, dungeons, fractals, and bosses.

My weapons of choice are Staff (main for obvious reasons of boonage and heals) Scepter/Shield (For better DPS and range, while shield grants boons, makes a barrier, and heals with said barrier) and for Melee I personally like Hammer. The 2skill combos exceedingly well with parties and works on a short CD, the 4 and 3 skill make a nice combo for creating distance between your party and most mobs, and the 5skill is a barrier. I don’t know why in god’s name Guardians have forsaken barriers but I find them incredibly useful. (My parties think so as well.)

As for utilities? NOT SIGNETS. Personally, I make use of everything except those. The Healskill I use is “Healing breeze” but I find myself using it more often for the sake of my party members than for myself because I heal so much and kite well enough that I’m usually at well enough health. Shield of the Avenger is good for protecting Glass Cannons. (and yourself for that matter.) It blocks ALL PROJECTILE ATTACKS (even those bullet hell ones you see in Arah) and I find myself slotting it very often. Sword of Justice, as mentioned above, is there for supplementing DPS so you may focus on other important things. Shouts are good for boon granting, obviously. I use all of the meditation skills a lot, Merciful intervention being a good method to retreat and heal a bit if things get too rough, Judge’s intervention for quicker engagement of enemies, and Contemplation of Purity for being a godly condition remover. Really? Play around with your utilities and see which serve you best, Guardian has a myriad of support options that makes a heals/boons build incredibly viable and effective.

Elementalist stealth is OP.

As the aforementioned hammer-swinger, I can say that this seems very true. I will start fighting a Champion, Veteran, or just Large horde of something and when I get it to about 60%….
WHAM.
A meteor comes crashing into it, and I find that I suddenly have an Elementalist standing about 30 feet behind me. I appreciate the help and I will gladly duo the Champ/Vet/hordeofmonsters with the Elementalist. …. That is until another one crashes into the fray like the Kool-Aid man. ._.; Sometimes, I will end fights with like four of you with me. This is a very common occurrence for me, though unlike Ayanavi I often do get party invites. (These parties usually go charging off into other events and boss fights) Where the F do you guys come from? … Consequently, where do you GO?

" Save Yourself!" Nerfed - Seriously why??

You can’t think that way though. As it’s been stated before, every class should be able to perform every role. What if someone wants to be a magic wielding melee juggernaut? He/she should be able to do so effectively.

Can’t I? Besides, it’s not that I personally think we don’t do enough damage. It’s just that everyone else seems to be crying that we apparently don’t. I was just saying that I can see -why- we wouldn’t do as much damage. Seriously, we’d be OP as heck if we did Warrior-rate damage, it wouldn’t be balanced.
Also, just because every class CAN do every role, doesn’t mean we can all do it as EFFECTIVELY as other classes. An Elementalist can’t run up and attack something melee-wise using the same methods as say, a Warrior. Oh sure they can still do it if they so wish, but with their defense it won’t be as practical, or effective.

Why so serious?

We really are a great class. I love being a Guardian, it scratches my itch to support my allies and it even gives me Margin for Error in the form of HP and somanybarriers!
My best friend and ally in this game is a Mesmer and you should hear some of the kittenhe has to deal with.
Like, a good chunk of her traits don’t even work. Holykitteningkitten.

Are you seriously complaining that a skill that buffs everything is getting “nerfed”?
Dude, when I discovered “Save Yourselves!” I thought it was the most broken thing I had ever lain eyes on. Especially with “Smite Condition” in our repertoire. Of course this skill got “nerfed!”
Why are you all crying about this? Do you have any idea how good our class has it? We are the most desired class to have around in a party. We have godlike passive regen, we have great defense, we have beautiful traits, Aegis on demand, burning automatically, Spirit Weapons that can be traited into greatness, and barriers.
Sure our DPS isn’t the level of some other classes but that isn’t what it means to be a “guardian,” is it? We are here to support, protect, and aid. Not to stab, kill, and maim. If you want DPS play a Warrior, not a Guardian.
