The only possible solution in my Opinion is to get nearly equal team sizes in wvw.
positive effects:
- more interesting fights
- tactics and skill get more important and decide the war
- overrolling is reduced
- extensive night capping is prevented, as there are also equal defenders
- server transfers and WTJ to a high populated server is less beneficial
- population will equal out to all servers, even equals out in the night if people shift to less populated servers, so they can join wvw and get shorter waiting time.
- new tactics for wvw map switching.
negative effects:
- waiting line will extend in high populated servers, until population moves to low populated servers
- waiting line will extend when you play against servers with small populations
- some regional servers with massive amount of specific time zone players have to split up (and fight each other). Think about russian server where people are active when everybody else in the world sleeps.
- some people may be kicked out of wvw.
How to get nearly equal servers:
There should be a permanent calculation how many players are in the 4 wvw zones of each server. This could be easy calculation, as lowest active server (or medium overall activity of all 3 servers) +xx% or +xx players. If a server is above new players cant join and have to wait until slots are free.
But there are some cases where this won´t work:
If the lowest populated server A goes to sleep and 20 players server leave wvw, the others player amouts of server B and C must be reduced. So they have to be kicked, for example the players with longest wvw session first, with a 5-10 minute timer, no kick if they are in fight.
Prevent abusing this system:
If a server is in front with +20000 points, or a enemy is just getting in their Tower/Keep they use a sneaky tactic and may all log out. In this case the kick timer should be long enough and they should be are already in fight. Also there should be a minimum where players are not further reduced. So even if Server a has only 5 active players in one wvw map and only 30 people in all 4 maps, the enemy still has the minimum of 60 overall.
What do you think of aiming for equal team sizes in wvw?
May this be a possible solution?
