What do you do for FUN?

I only recently got to 80, I’m still having fun exploring, mostly doing the orr zones, getting them done. Joined a sizable guild so there’s always somebody to dungeon with, little sPvP here and there is fun.

Just enjoying building my character up, getting gold, gear, etc, still haven’t fully figured the game out in terms of what gear i want to get, how to get it etc, but i’m getting there.

By far the most fun I’m having in the game atm is ‘questing’ on an alt with a couple friends who got the game. we’re around lvl 36-40, and it’s been a blast.

Does GW2 work with windows 8?

I haven’t had any issues with it on windows 8.

My install was originally done on windows 7 though, I’ve just kept it on another hard drive.

In my opinion, this game requires too much grind

I’m new to level 80, but from what I can tell, the ‘grind’ is basically playing the entire game.

With the exception of dungeon gear, and I guess you could say your sPVP gear, to grind for new armor and weapons you can pretty much do whatever you please. Sure there’s probably some places/ways that are more efficient than others, but the basis still stands that you can play any part of the game that you like.

Sweet, glad i found this, just reached 80 a few days ago, I had a rough idea of what there is to do.

Being sub free this game, i can definately see myself taking short breaks, coming back and working on some stuff, checking out new content.

I’m right into it at the moment, so i’ll be playing a lot I think, might work on world completion and doing some dungeons to get some dungeon gear.

Question about unreleased areas

They have released one area already have they not, in the sea of sorrows, i didn’t pay much attention coz i wasn’t playing at that time, but i’m pretty sure that was added in some patch some time.

I really don’t think we will ever get any of this kind of information, sometimes they will probably add stuff for free, sometimes they might add stuff as an expansion for a cost.

I dare say we will get a lot more though if they charge for it, instead of just 1 zone, maybe like 6 or 7 new areas.

This is pretty much a solo game...

I have found the most fun i get out of this game is when playing with others.

Even if i go off on my own to some random area, and then party up with some randoms there to do some events.

You have to be completely moronic to think this game doesn’t offer anything for players who want to play together, almost everything in the game is deliberately designed to push you toward playing with others, rather than fighting against them for mob tags, quest items etc.

If i see another player, I actively try to help them or run around with them, rather than other mmos i’d stay away and kill my own mobs for loot.

What LvL does leveling becomes truly fun?

Level 1.

I just got my first 80 last night, the whole way through was very enjoyable.

I did stop playing for a few months, but that was not because the game got boring, that was for other reasons.

yesterdays patch

I decided to randomly start playing again yesterday, and downloading the patch, I reached about 400mb, and only then it reached 1%.

Now, i cannot imagine it was 400GB in size, it was done in about 90 minutes. very strange calculations on that downloader there.

I found this article to be great and really lay it down to those who see this game for something it’s not. This game is all about the journey to level 80 and I feel the article really points out that those who chose to breeze through the content really missed out on the meat of the game.

Try thinking outside the box and enjoy a game where you don’t need to watch your XP bar whatsoever. Enjoy the game first and think of levels as secondary, it will make the game much more appeasable to those accustomed to the past decades genre of MMO’s.

Happy huntin’.

I really enjoyed the article, it made me step back a bit and say to myself ‘Why am i trying to rush 1 character to 80’ I have a 60 ele, but it’s inspired me to re-roll something else, since endgame in GW2 is essentially the leveling game.

I do agree with the OP a bit on DEs being a bit of a push over when there’s tons of players, hopefully over time 2 things will happen, 1 they will balance them better with patches for more people, and 2 people will be more spread out, which i’m already noticing on my server (sea of sorrows) at least in the 50-60 areas. I have in face been to a couple of events where we failed, due to not having that many people there, one time I was the ONLY one trying to defend a small outpost.

Thing is we don’t actually know how many people these events are built to scale for, the only one I know of (which I don’t even know where it is) i saw in a video of TotalBiscuits at gamescon last year, was it was built to scale from 10-100 players. A big dragon fight of some description i’m sure others will know the one.

But other DEs, many of them are probably built to scale up to only 10 or 20 players perhaps, we don’t really know the specifics.

Also want to point out it’s irrelevant if the game is third person or first person, FoV is a fundamental aspect of games related to perspective and depth perception

Thanks for the tip, I don’t think i’d want to try that honestly, i prefer the full screen.

When i mentioned it doesn’t affect me in 3rd person, I wasn’t suggesting FoV is somehow irrelevant depending on the view, it just affects me in a different way depending on the game.

All I can say is, what the hell is FOV??

Field of View,

It’s the degree at which you view the world from the cameras position, the higher the FoV, say 90 Degrees (my personal preference for PC games) you will see more out to the sides.

Being close to a screen while playing PC games with a low FoV can cause headaches and motion sickness to some people, for consoles it’s fine usually you’re far back from your TV, it’s not taking up so much of your own view.

I hadn’t really thought about his, FoV doesn’t effect me a great deal in 3rd person games, but I was getting a few headaches the other day, I just attributed that to playing all day and being really tired as it was anyway.

I have used Flawless Widescreen (see link below) for a few other games, GW2 doesn’t appear to be supported at present, it may be in the future, i honestly don’t know how it works exactly, it’s a memory hack by the looks, so i can’t say if GW2 will be supported in the future or not, but worth keeping your eye on for sure.

Also does anybody know what the default FoV is in GW2?
