Anyone bought HoT and happy?

I thought they would never release XPac for GW2, so I was very happy when I saw the announcement presentation of HoT few months ago. With the pre-order today I’m getting even more impatient for the release.

Price for the expansion is high but not expensive. For me, I spend lots of time in leveling and playing my characters, without having to worry about an expiring subscription. If I don’t want to play for 2 weeks, that’s ok, won’t cost me a 1/2 month’s subcription money. Maybe it’s me but it feels very relaxing: Pay once and don’t worry about it after then.

I never had the feeling I was playing a non-sub MMO with GW2, and it didn’t have limitations that hint to purchasing gems/becoming VIP member, and it has freedom to play whenever I want.

And now they ask 45/75/99 euro for their expansion, which is pretty high. But it’s not expensive for it’s content/updates and unlimited access that you get in return. If this ensures future development of this game the same way ArenaNet did for vanilla GW2, I’m happy to pay for it.

I really don’t understand all the AP snobs, honestly. Someone that bought the game a week ago can’t be expected to have 15K AP yet, but I’ve seen people saying if you don’t have more than that, you’re not really wanted for dungeon runs. Seems excessive to me…

Oh wow I only got 3785 achievement points and I got GW2 few months after release. I must be doing something very wrong if players with less than x amount of AP aren’t wanted for dungeons. At my pace it would take me ages to get to 15k.

I loved playing the game and got a lvl 80 from each profession. But I never played a dungeon (tried solo), and wasn’t able to complete the final part (defeat Zhaitan) from the main storyline, so I lost interest to go on with the additional storychapters as well.

I’m easily distracted under high pressure when I’m in a group event/dungeon I’ve never been before so my reaction speed is bad because I simply don’t know what to focus on. Help you or fight the/which enemy, being support or offensive? When to revive a fallen ally with risk to die yourself? Do x when y happens? I don’t know.

I’m used to traditional group roles (loved being healer) and what I read in some guides about GW2 profession/dungeons is being prepared for any role, knowing exactly which skills and geartype to use in any situation/role. Not very encouraging for a insecure newcomer to even the lowest level dungeon. To me it feels like doing your exams for your driver’s license while you never even sat in the driver’s chair before.

If lower level story mode dungeons wouldn’t be scaled to 80 I could at least take a look by myself at my own pace. Experience what happens and not by watching a youtube movie, it doesn’t work for me that way. If I was too lazy to prepare for a dungeon, I wouldn’t want to explore dungeons by myself before joining a group, but just jump in. I’m not interested in the rewards, just want to to reduce risk that I’m the cause of group wipe if I’d ever joined a group for a dungeon. This has been discussed in many threads before so I won’t say more about it.

But, I’m very happy there will be a new expansion, with alot of new things to do for solo players as well. Looking forward to it to spent many more hours in GW2.

Hello, I read in one of your replies that you created a PayPal account during last weekends sale to buy GW2 serial?

When I created my PayPal account few years ago, it took PayPal a few days to check if my contact information, bankaccount, etcetera was legit. Only after that I could start using it.

Is it possible that PayPal is still working on checking your contact/bank account information for your new PayPal account? Maybe this is the reason why the GW2 order-system thinks your PayPal account is active and sends you the order confirmation, but your PayPal account is actually on hold and still being checked by PayPal?

I created mine years ago so I have no idea how PayPal account creation works today. Maybe they made it more easy to get started fast

Serial Code missing from Sales Email

Hello, I have the same issue.
I bought a copy today for a friend in case he wants to join GW2.

Bought Deluxe yesterday for myself without a problem. Today I bought regular Edition and the serial is missing. I’m also from EU (Netherlands).

Maybe the GW2 sale is such a huge success that they ran out of serials, and will be generated more after the weekend. Don’t worry

Ok thanks for the reply. I have two WoW versions (EU and US) on my Blizzard account but I just realized it’s because EU and US servers have no access to the other region’s servers. GW2 doesn’t have this so I’ll create another account

Thanks,

Hello, my question is a bit similar so instead of making a new thread I’ll post it here

I just bought the Digital Deluxe Version, can I link this version to my current account (which already has GW1 and ‘regular’ GW2)?
I don’t want it to merge with the GW2 characters I already have, but just want the Deluxe Edition to be part of the same account so can login with the same email/pw.

Checked my account page before asking here but I couldn’t find an option to add another serial. Did I miss something or should I create a 2nd account?

Thank you for the reply

Something weird happened. I started playing GW2 again this weekend and found out about the problem with my guildbank. I’m trying to get access since Friday and today I decided to post it on the forum. I just logged in to GW2 and it seems that my engineer is leader again! I don’t know how, maybe the ArenaNet tech team is reading our posts, even on Sunday?
I’m very happy that it works again, my inventories were getting full with cooking ingredients

Hello,
I created a guild to store all my cooking materials in the bank. Only my toons are member.
Unfortunately none of my toons have access to the guild bank anymore.
I checked the GW2 wiki for a solution and I’m afraid I accidentally disabled the leadership, so I can’t give my toons privileges to access. I’m new to creating guilds and the guild system in GW2 (stand down/represent/multiple guilds) was a bit confusing for me.
Can I fix this problem myself, is my guildbank and the content doomed or should I contact customer support?

Thanks,
– Grampybone
