Aidan, quests are known as Hearts in this game. A quest is when you strive achieve a goal, hearts are that goal in Guild Wars 2.

Also special traits won’t be unnecessary since these are totally different than the current traits. The current traits are open to everyone who wants to buy them, these bonus traits are obtainable only through your gameplay. This makes you more connected with the game and your playstyle and encourages more gameplay.

Also what’s wrong with mounts, I’ll say what I said in another thread since the GW2 community is very toxic towards mounts. The following paste is going to sound like I have a little bit of an attitude, but that’s because the people I was talking to were very ignorant, none of the attitude is directed towards you.

“WP’s don’t make traveling more efficient when you are resource farming, world completing, trying to catch up with a commander (again not every one has all the WPs.), or just plain want to host a guild event with friends. It makes the game fun in a different way, a mounted race is a lot more fun than a foot race. GW2 is supposed to be a game where players have the option to play how they want, when they want, so again, if a player wants to use a mount, what is wrong with that. It is THEIR option, you do not need to use it. You guys can waste yours traits on swiftness when having fun exploring the world, and others will use their mounts. If a mount provides the same speed bonuses that Swiftness does, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If it provides faster speeds than what’s available through traits/skills then there may be an issue when it comes to costing money. If someone WANTS to spend money on a mount, then they should be able to (as long as the mounts are the same speed as swiftness), if others don’t want to, then don’t buy it then.”

Unique Traiting System

This may have many mixed reactions, for understandable reasons. In my opinion, this would only be for PvE and WvW but in PvP EVERYONE already has these traits unlocked like it is now in the game.

The idea of the Unique Traiting System is to give players the ability to unlock bonus traits based on their gameplay in addition to the current traits that are available to everyone in the game right now. There are multiple Unique Traits you can unlock per category (ex. for Warrior: Strength, Discipline, etc..), but you can only have 1 Unique Trait active per category.

How would you unlock these traits? The Unique Traits you unlock is 100% based on the way you as a player interact with the game. Say you’re fighting a mob, and you dodge attacks very well and very often on a daily basis. You unlock a trait called “Agility”, this trait speeds up regeneration for the “Dodge” button by what ever amount of seconds which results in more times you can dodge, and improves your reaction times. The person who unlocked this bonus trait will most likely appreciate this because it’s based off of their gameplay! (So unless you have quick reaction times, and are aware of the Mobs’ animations/movements frequently, you won’t unlock this trait)

Another Bonus Trait could be: “Cloak”. This is a bonus trait that players can unlock if they very frequently roam the world In Stealth aka “Invisibility”. It allows the player to be in Stealth for a few more seconds, and if they choose to they can “Re-Stealth” right before the current Stealth runs out but at the cost of a large quantity of health. If they “Re-Stealth” too much they can potentially kill them selves.

^ That is all for the Unique Traits System. Those were just examples for traits that could be added, how ever Anet decides to utilize the system is up to them.

Mount System

Alright, I can feel the hatred coming towards this now. Guild Wars 2 forum members tend to avoid mounts like the plague. But please hear me out.

With the expansion of HoT, Arena Net has showed that they are interested in vertical maps and gliding rides. So with this newly designed map coming out this opens up tons of possibilities for new rides, so here are some:

(Some of these rides don’t have to be able to actually fly, gliding, or just hovering on the ground would be awesome too)

TO CLARIFY: These mounts do not give any speed boosts, and probably shouldn’t be in WvW. But they should be an option to explore the wonderful world that the developers took the time to create, those who don’t want to explore can simply continue to use waypoints all the time. These mounts will give no boosts at all, like the current mounts in game already (Broom/Rug)

- Hot Air Balloon (That can carry 3 other players)
- Phoenix
- Doyalk (That can carry 1 other player)
- Centaur
- Eagle
- Moa
- Giant Rabbit

So those are just some of my ideas for the future of this game. Please please leave your feedback!

If any employees at Arena Net do like these ideas, please feel free to change/adapt ANY of these suggestions to fit the game and how you guys feel is best for the game.

These are just a few of my opinions and suggestions about the game that I believe could make the game more fun, and even more interesting. Please leave your feedback on these topics. If you wish to add to them, agree with them, or hate any of them then please feel free to do so!

Legendary Questing System

The Legendary Questing System is a very rare, and unique set of quest(s) that players can UNLOCK by completing specific tasks. This is not a quest that you can see publicly on the map with the heart icon, and is hidden to every player that does not have the quest or is in the party with the quest “owner”. The point of the Legendary Questing System is to give players a rare opportunity to unlock extremely rare and unique weapons that can not be obtained anywhere else. Legendary weapons in Guild Wars 2 (ex. Twilight) are currently obtained through the Trading Post, or by being crafted. But how cool would it be to have unlocked a hidden quest to a hidden dungeon/area that rewards you with a unique weapon that very few players can have in the game. Say there are 100 Legendary Quests in the game, (this is just an example) 10 of them can have the unique Greatsword, 10 of them can have the unique Scepter, etc… There would be a limited amount of these items and a limited amount of these quests.

These hidden quests can be completed with friends if they are in your Party. They can not earn the “Legendary” weapon that the owner of the quest has the ability to obtain, but they can earn other cool rewards for completing the quest that are already obtainable in the game (ex. gold, skins, crafting materials, etc..)

How can these quests be unlocked? I think these would be cool ways to unlock the quests:

- Say you’re exploring the world randomly, and come across this cave that is glowing, you approach this cave and it gives you the option, “Begin Legendary Quest”. Anybody who happens to pass by this glowing cave can try and get the quest, but only the first person to click “Begin Legendary Quest” can activate the quest and complete it! Once the person accepts the quest line the glowing cave disappears and the quest is no longer obtainable in that area.

- Legendary open world event. These open world event(s) occurs a limited amount of times in random areas at random times, you’re exploring the oceans when a horde of Sharks attack a Quaggan village! There will be a Quaggan with a Heart Icon above their head now, You have to interact with the Quaggan, and click on “Begin Legendary Quest” (Same as last time, first person to accept gets the quest, then the ability to get the quest is gone)… You save the village from the horde, but now the boss battle begins with a giant octopus, you defeated them with your friends and the boss drops a chest filled with random loot. You go back to the Quaggan NPC you got the Legendary Quest from, he thanks you for your assistance, and grants you the Legendary weapon! Your friends in the party do not earn the legendary weapon, but they do earn random loot from the game that is also appreciable.

That is all for the Legendary Questing System, please tell me what you think about it!

[Suggestion] Reintroduce Town Clothing

It’s called “outfits” and you can find them in the gem store.

Clearly didn’t read what I wrote. The main point was to be able to mix and match.

Before the April 2014 feature update, Town Clothing was what people wore to mix and match “freestyle” clothing pieces and make their characters look unique and to their satisfaction. As of this update we’ve been tied down to tonics/outfits. We can no longer mix and match the pieces, we can no longer dye the clothing, and now your wearing the EXACT same outfit that someone else has purchased.

Town Clothing, in my opinion, added more customization to the game, and gave players the option to look the way they wanted to look not the way Anet wants them to look. The new wardrobe system is a great system, but making everything into tonics was a terrible idea, if you buy a backpack or say a hat (ex. Tiger backpack/Beanie), when you put on your outfit/tonic your hat/backpack will disappear.

When I do world completion, I like to dress as a “normal” person, or as an adventurer. I don’t like to wear huge bulky armor or even armor in general. I use heavy clothing (Warrior) and we have VERY little ways to actually look normal in this game or throw holiday events. Say someone hosts a Holiday event, people with light/medium armor can attend in “normal” looking clothing and are dyed for the holiday event, while us Warriors/Guardians still look like Warriors/Guardians wearing bright holiday colors, we look absolutely stupid at these events.

(In the attachments is a picture of the old clothing system, and how you could mix/match. that is not my picture or character)

My point of this thread was:

- Add Town Clothing Back
- Give Warriors an option to wear slimmer clothing. Believe it or not but Warriors do/can wear leather.
- Provide more customizable “freestyle” clothing PIECES that players can dye and mix/match or skin onto their armor.

I’m pretty new to the MMORPG world, so I am not quite sure what would fit in a game like GW2 or not. Thanks for the feedback everyone, whether it’s good or not I wasn’t expecting every one to agree with these.

@Andrax.4576 I used some elements from Archeage and changed them around and made it in a different way. Not everything i suggested is in Archeage.

@sazberryftw.3809 Yes this is intended to replace the old trading system.

The Guild Wars takes the elements of WvW but puts it into the open world for players’ in actual guilds to have wars against each other. The Defense system, and Housing system are not in WvW. On top of that there is no form of Guild Vs Guild or making allies which plays a huge factor into this.

About the Mounts. Yes not needed, but it would be really awesome to have them in. You wouldn’t want your character to be flying on a Pheonix, or exploring the grounds in your Wagon that’s pulled by Horses?

Justice System

When you commit murder of another player, during a Trade Route, or in open world you leave behind evidence that only certain classes can hide, such as thief. If a player finds this evidence they are gifted the ability to report it to the player court system and bring the murderous player to trial. If the thief hides the evidence then there is no way to be found, or accused of such actions.

If the player refuses to go to court, then he has to pay a fine, if they refuse to pay the fine they are wanted for what ever action they did, and other players have the ability to report the player if they see him once he is reported he will spawn in a jail, where he has the ability to break out (Up to the GW2 team on how they want that to work), If the player breaks out of jail then his name will appear Red and a bounty will placed on the murderous player for any one to kill and earn the reward. After the bounty is complete and the player is killed, the murderous player is under “probation” where he is limited to the things he can do (such as WvW, grouping, Farming,) depending on what the crime is he committed, and for how ever long it will last is also based on the crime he did.

Auctions

Self explanatory. Open world player auctions are in certain cities, and players have the ability to sell their items to the highest bidder. Players in town(s) are expected to act civilized and not kill each other, but it is certainly able to kill anyone if they want to if their PvP toggle is on.

Boats

Must be purchased through merchants that are near the shores and ocean(s). You have the ability to sail through the oceans in your boats,, or use it to store your loot. But careful, if you go out sailing by your self and an enemy player is nearby he has the ability to get on your boat (whether by his own boat, or flying mount) and steal all your loot., of course if evidence is found from the enemy player you may report him right away to the justice system. Your boat is safe and loot free when you are docked at a docking station (Although players can still kill YOU (or friends) but they CAN’T steal your loot. If a player steal your boat it will respawn at the docking station within 10 minutes, unless the player has destroyed your boat. If your boat is destroyed you MUST buy a new one.

Another cool idea would be the ability to build your own boat. Of course it will take a lot of resources depending on the size of the boat you want.

Fishing and deap sea diving

If you buy your self a fishing rod from a merchant, then you can set sail or stay at shore and fish for sea creatures! (Such as fish/sharks…etc) and you can sell them to merchants for money depending on the size/rarity of the fish.

Deep sea diving, You can go deep in the sea and place traps to capture crabs, or sea creatures. And like the Fish, you can sell them to merchants for money depending on the size/rarity. Or you can find abandoned ships, and get special treasure, bu be careful, because there will be mobs around it.

Guild Wars

Yes ACTUAL guild wars! Not instanced but fully open world. Build your Guild home with your guildies, set up traps or walls to defend your claimed land, attack other guild homes, or become allies with them. PvP is automatically enabled when in your guild territory or another guild’s territory but friendly fire is disabled against guild mates so AoE attacks can work properly and teamwork could work better with out killing your guild mates!

So tell me what you think! These are just the very FEW Ideas I have for the game. I would like ANY form of feedback.

Now lets get straight to the point, your feedback is HIGHLY appreciated and VERY needed. Post your comments please.

Trading System

You guys know those trade routes that you do with the NPCs’ and you’re supposed to protect them from the bandits/mobs? What If it was like that with players. Where you had to trade on foot by carrying a large trading bag and you had to walk to your destination with your guild/friends/family defending you during this trade route, from other players.

If the opposing players manage to kill you off during your trade route, then they get the loot that was in your bag. This encourages guilds, teamwork, and player cooperation and adds a little bit of open world PvP elements to the game.

If you are trying to carry too much loot, then a mount such as a Horse, Donkey, Pegasus, Elephant, or some sort should be gifted the ability to carry your trading bag. Allowing you to move faster and participate in combat your self if not riding the mount.

Open World PvP

Pretty self explanatory, it’s Player VS Player combat in the open world. If a player is not interested in doing open world PvP then they should be allowed to toggle on/off the ability to be attacked by a player in the open world. The on/off switch can not be toggled while being under attack, and the toggle automatically switches to on during a trade route then off again after the trade route is complete. PvP during a trade route in necessary in order for the idea to actually work.

Mounts

Guild Wars 2, does a great job being a very unique MMORPG. So why not have a unique mounting system? If you do high level/hard working quests or tasks you can be gifted a mount. Or you can just have it where during the massive boss battles you have the ability to earn a mount in one of the chests. Cool and unique rides would consist of:

Eagle (GIANT ones)
Pheonix
Octopus
Boats
Hot Air Balloon
Pegasus
Donkey
Horses
Wagon w/ horses
Old fashioned/mid evil themed car

Open world housing system

A fully open world housing system. You claim your own land and then have to gather the correct materials and items in order to build your house. Best done with friends/guilds/family because you have to carry the materials back to your claimed land in order to build the house. or you can have your selected mount carry it for you. Whether or not players can kill you and steal your loot during this process is a matter if you have your PvP toggled on or off.

In your so claimed land, you should be able to grow trees, crops, and other(s), in order to gain more resources. But in order to plant these in your Farming area you must go around the world gathering seed(s) and plant it back in your claimed land, such as how real life works. You must water, and maintain your growing crops/trees in order for them to properly grow.
