Follow-up question, can I continue to farm foxfire? I’m not clear is this was a warning or an accident on anet’s part.

Well, I have 11 80s, all of them parked at the Malchor’s cluster. I logged with all of them, then the 2 of them that have perma logging tools ran around and harvested the rest of Orr (straits, CS rest of Malchors). At reset, my Guard also pvp’d in between to get closer to champ title. All of this activity would be impossible for a bot to perform. But, I guess a blanket ban was the easier option. I’m frustrated. Gonna go work of steam at the gym. Totally disappointed but will forgive this all if they just let me play the game again

Does a bot do pvp matches in between harvesting these logs, across all the maps with elder or higher wood? Doubtful. I queue for a match, harvest (and sell as soon as I get one cuz i know the price will drop), play a match repeat. If the repeat part is botting, then they need a new way of determining what a bot is. Do people who run the same 8 dungeon paths a day at the same time because they can play at that time and get good returns for it considered bots? cuz if you look at it from afar, that behavior is very very repetitive also.

That seems rather odd to me. I could be banned and not even know it? The only reason I know the little I do know is because I’m obsessed with this game and have nothing better to do with my time than search the forums to find out more information.

Well, I would THINK you could continue to harvest trees, but speaking as someone who has been banned this morning (I guess, can’t log in, zero word from anet on my tickets) for cutting wood and selling foxfire, you make the call. From what I’ve read, the bans were for people who literally logged thousands of logs for >100 foxfire. I made 200g on it over the last 2 days. The thing is, I did this. I work from home, I did it with my spare time (and I’ll admit a bit on my company’s time, but that is none of anet’s concern). I was looking forward to doing more of it today, but nope, I’m banned. I have no idea for how long since I never received an email or anything. Just can’t log in on my primary account. But, I logged in on my other account and sure enough, plenty of people farming wood just as they were before. So, I’d say you are safe if your past activity didn’t trigger whatever the heck triggered me and others to be banned.

Thanks, I think I’m safe on that front (not getting their emails) as when I opened a ticket I received confirmation. It didn’t got to spam.

I’ve read through the reddit post and it is undoubtedly a case of me being banned (for how long???) because of my excessive foxfire harvesting. I forgive anet for their mistake if they forgive my account and get me back and playing again soon.

My primary account can no longer access the game as well. I did not, however, receive an email or any communication stating I was banned for botting. I have, however, been reading threads and it appears harvesting too much foxfire clusters and selling for profit (for me over 200g) has produced bans.

My question to you, did your account get turned to Trial? That’s what happened to me, though as I’ve stated I didn’t receive any communication from anet.

Haha well, I see someone was reinstated and got a box of goodies (I already purchased all of that so no need anet if you are reading, just get me back on line). Thanks for your words Chrispy. I appreciate having an ear to vent to. I’m just frustrated I can’t play today. I had the day off from work and was looking forward to making dragon in pvp and getting 30-50g worth of foxfire while waiting in the queue. Guess that plan is voided. I’ll feel fine as long as I am able to play again within 24 hours of my ticket being opened.

Lol, I like how you broke those out like that. Actually the post you added was a bit helpful, in at least I can see that the person complaining about being banned received a ticket/email about the ban. I’ve not received such communication and it is why I’m still anxiously waiting for a meaningful response.

Regarding your Sympathetic Comment: is this legit? Other people are experiencing the same issue with their account being downgraded to trial? Is that the standard policy for being banned (going to trial)?

I am not sure how i can prove that I did all the harvesting myself, other than that I played pvp matches in between each and every session of harvesting. I harvest while i wait out the solo queue rosters to fill. No bot does that, I’m pretty sure. At least not and wins a touch over half its matches lol.

Guys, I’ve logged in with my second account (my son’s) to ask a question regarding my primary account, which has just been downgraded to Trial. Meaning, I can’t log into the game. Two things may have caused this, both would be insanely absurd in nature but this is the only two things I can think of.

One, I’ve cancelled wildstar, which has the same ncsoft acct name as my gw2 account. Unlikely, right?

Two, I harvested and sold 200+ gold worth of foxfire clusters over the last 2 days. Banned for botting? I harvested every single one myself (no bot, wouldn’t know how to do that) but also, no email from anet saying i’m banned so I assume that isn’t it either.

I did open a ticket with anet, but now i get to sit here and twiddle my thumbs until I hear back at them. Any response or sympathetic comments (or informational ones at that) would be highly appreciated.
