I agree I am loving this event!
This is the most light hearted and fun event I have ever experienced in a MMO! Thank you Josh Foreman and I hope you will have a chance to add more things like this event in the future. Get you that promotion/year-end bonus!
I’ve ran dungeon and fractal groups more than a few times, and the party almost always welcomes the CD, because they know that it’s one of the only things that can keep a ranger doing actual useful damage in said areas. Plus well, combos for the party, and they love a good longlasting burn condition.
That right there is so wrong. You are that bad useless ranger everyone always refers to in groups and always wants to kick for a more useful class.
Eh, how are trap rangers unaffected by this? Unless you run some kind of ‘low condition’ trap build and refuse to use a shortbow or an axe, your DPS just tanked.
My DPS comes from the condition damage. By myself, without the conditions coming into effect, I do 50 damage every hit on a veteran enemy in Diessa Plateau. Add in the bleed, flame, and poison CD, and I’m doing more damage each second with the conditions than I will ever do with just a regular attack from the SB. I use Healing Spring, Signet of the Hunt, Flame Trap, Spike Trap, and Entangle as my skills, btw.
The very fact that you run condition damage build shows us that you run a sub-optimal build already and this is compared to power crit builds. This also tells us that you have little to no experience running efficient dungeon and fractal groups. Regardless of what you say your “condition” build is kitten aside from open world.
The very fact that you don’t know condition builds are largely wasted DPS in groups tells me that you don’t know the class or the game mechanics very well. Hence, you opinion is rather moot you don’t even know how to play properly.
How are warriors buffed?
Err…crazy banner buffs that make your spirit build look like even more of a joke?
go to the warrior forums…it currently looks worse than this one right now…I don’t think anyone is excited about banner buffs plus minor buffs to Kick and Rampage.
Frenzy caught a significantly larger nerf than QZ did.
No, in fact we actually took a harder hit to our dps than any other class.
Ranger’s don’t take 50% more damage during their quickened state. Frenzy is now a full second (or 2 seconds, if traited) longer, with only half the benefit, but still with the extra damage taken.
I’m pretty sure Warriors would cry with joy if their quickness skill was in QZ’s current state.
Roll a ranger, get to 80, and then come back. Warriors are far better and more versatile than rangers.
Quite frankly I am probably backbenching my ranger too. I totally agree with your post.

… rerolling a warrior maybe?
Warrior is the best ranger build.
Thanks for the hard facts on the nerf to our damage build.
Good read and if correct validates my position that this was a nerf to our already sub-par dps.
I’m going to use it for a while before I form any opinions about how it functions now. Alll I can say with certainty is that It’s different than it was before. I doubt that I will find it any better or worse in the grand scheme, but I reserve judgement.
It is a noticeable change. A lot of our damage comes in from our quickness skills with a 50% nerf we do 50% less damage from a skill we relied upon heavily to get our damage out. It is common sense. But clearly many people here lack that.
Well, of course it will be noticeable. I doubt anyone will dispute that point. However since the change to quickness is global, the net change to QZ looks more like a buff than a nerf to me. In other words, everybody’s burst will be less bursty than before…not just rangers, and rangers got some perks added in that we didn’t have before.
As I said, I’ll reserve judgement rather than making snap decisions based on non-experience.
Hahaha, you think adding a stung break is a buff? That is bringing it inline with the other classes skills whilst still taking a huge hit to dps while we already do less than optimal dps before this. Hell most people already accept ranger has the worst dps and utility in pve.
Our dps was already nerfed with the SB fix and now another dps nerf through quickness that nerfs all the damage we do no matter what weapon we choose.
You are that sad kid on that playground that people pick on and thinks they are their friend.
Actually no, I don’t think it’s a buff, I KNOW it is. It used to not be there, and now it is there. It’s an improvement to the previous state, therefore it is a buff. Pretty simple stuff really…
You go right ahead and get your complaining muscles all stretched out though. You’ve got a long night ahead of you!
50% speed nerf vs stun break. Nope, it is an overall nerf. You are factually wrong.
The quickness adjustment is global meaning it’s a non-factor when comparing the net effect it has. EVERYBODY’S quickness has been reduced. Rangers got a buff to their quickness skill to compensate. It’s really not that complicated.
No, rangers did not get a buff. Try to get it into your head. If you don’t realize how ranger damage builds rely heavily on quickness to deal damage whilst other classes do not rely on quickness as much then you clearly do not know this class.

50% speed nerf that effects not only QZ but the quickness from pet swaps vs. stun break. Nope, it is an overall nerf. You are factually wrong. Keep on trying you will still be wrong and you lack any basic understanding of the class to say otherwise. Hell you even lack basic logic and comprehension.

So the Only Way to be a Ranger is to go full bunker build?
The only way to go ranger is to go warrior(pve) or mesmer(pvp).
lol just kidding.
In all seriousness go BM Bunker or trapper, that’s all that’s left, until next patch.
No no, you do have it right. If you want to PvE roll a warrior and stick to rifles/longbow and GS. A warrior makes for a better ranger than a ranger. Just treat your party as your support pets that have good AI.

I think what he is trying to say is that Anet has finally done it. They balanced all our builds to be equally bad. It doesn’t matter what you try to do it will be bad.
It breaks stuns now.
I bet that they are going to remove this to fix an animation glitch
He called it here folks. Also now we are finally balanced all builds are equally bad. Go hog wild and spec anything it will all be kitten.
It breaks stuns now.
WOW!
Wow, the quickness nerf really hurts berserker ranger builds a lot. So all in all this patch has nerfed ranger dps when it is already in a bad state. Great, this is just wonderful way to keep beating an already subpar class into the ground even more Anet. 1 second duration added? That is nothing compared to the nerf of 50% speed this really really cripples the berserker build a lot.
GS buff is a joke nobody worth their weight in dungeons playing a ranger uses GS and AR being shared with the pet doesn’t change that the pet is still useless and dies to non-agony boss skills.
This such a bad joke.
GS is viable in dungeons. Maybe try it before you complain.
Also berserker gear with quickness is NOT our only viable dps build. Sick of those kids…
No, it really is not. GS damage vs SB + quickness does not even compare. Try again, child.
What this does is give them ample room to change weapons that need it, e.g. Longbow. They have an opportunity now to decrease channel times/increase damage without making the skills overpowered. I think this will prove to be a good change in the long run; we just have to get the changes that this makes room for. Still, the nerf to quickness would definitely justify a 1 second increase to our pet swap trait, now that quickness is a great deal weaker.
You seem to forget SB has also been nerfed twice over now with this patch and its quickness nerf. They are crippling an already subpar dps build with this and you still say they are going to change the ranger for good? You are kidding right?
Are you literally so desperate that you will be happy with any change to the ranger even if they are nerfs? Are you literally going to keep saying “don’t worry guys they will make ranger good now”? You are deluded.
What was Anet thinking nerfing quickness without realizing that it literally cripples our only viable DPS build?
Yup the only viable dps build for rangers has been crippled by the quickness nerf. GG Anet you have killed off the Ranger class completely. You have literally taken away our only viable dps build.
