Yeah the problem is figuring out what the problem is in the first place, i’ve posted this so that people can check this to see if they overlooked it. Like i said in the first post, this only affected guild wars and nothing else, so i assumed it to be a problem with guild wars and so might other people. Understand now?

Hooray!
Ok, for the past year my gw2 has been running totally fine at 30-60 fps depending on area at max settings. Went on holiday to france recently, got back and my gw2 fps was down to 5-10 fps at any settings, lowest or max. Steps taken:
Restore point
Reinstall gw2
Reinstall gpu drivers
Run CC cleaner
Check GPUz + CPUz
Update the BIOS
Reinstall windows + format the HDD
NONE of the above helped in the slightest. All other games ran perfectly fine before and after steps above taken.
SOLUTION: My GPU was seated in the PCI-E 16x 2.0 as it should be, but GPUz showed that it was only PCI-E 1x 2.0. To fix this i simply re-seated my graphics card, aka took the GPU out and put it right back in again, in the same x16 slot. Problem solved, back up to regular FPS.

I tried this and the only change was making my game look worse with no difference in FPS
Here are some pictures i took showing my GPU at 100% load while gw2 is running, and as soon as its closed or tabbed out its down to 0% again. The screenshot under load shows 69%, but that is due to it rapidly going down as i tabbed out to screenshot :P. Also a picture showing ingame fps.
I saw that in another thread and tried it, all it did was make my game look a bit worse but didn’t affect the FPS at all
Same bug is back for me again, log off one night after playing, wake up next day log in and its broken again. Can only hope this gets fixed if it’s going to be a recurring problem.
Um, well i woke up today, tried guild wars to see if its working yet and, well now it’s working normally again!
my brain hurts
Hoping to get some feedback from Arenanet or some knowledgable individual on this as i really have no idea how to fix it. It’s stopping me from playing as well
I’ve just come back from holiday in France after 6 days away, and my FPS in guild wars has tanked from 30-40 on max settings down to 2-3 in lions arch. Nothing was changed on my PC since i was away so it has to be something to do with this new patch.
Specs:
Win7 64bit
Intel Core i5-2500k CPU @ 3.3ghz (4 CPUs)
8.2gb Corsair Ram
VTX ATI 6950 2gb version GPU
What i’ve currently tried:
The optimisation tweaks in the sticky
Changing settings ingame to minimum
Uninstalling and reinstalling GW2
Using a restore point
Updating my GPU drivers
Things i’ve noticed about the problem:
It seems that my GPU goes straight to 100% load as soon as i’m ingame regardless of where i am, even though it doesn’t run hot as if it was at 100%, temperatures remain low. The launcher itself also causes my GPU to go up to 60-70% load.
When i left to go on holiday i had absolutely NO PROBLEMS at all. Any insight would be helpful!
