Ranger pets - What's wrong with them.

I miss the days of GW1 where you had to equip a skill and go out in the world and fight a pet until it was a tamable health lvl… On that note I miss the days of only being able to change skills in town, it made going out and adventuring feel alot more challenging and you actually had to put some thought and skill into what you did.

On another note, I miss all the amazing things that made GW1 so special and kept me hooked for 5 years… god only knows what happened to ANET to make them abandon all the amazing ideas they had…

After putting a ton of hours on my Ranger I new I was with it for the long haul. I decided I wanted the pets you can only get with HoM rewards so my ranger will feel more complete to me.

I just bought GW1 planing to run through it as fast as I could for the HoM Points. After about 40 hours so far all i can say is what a fantastic freaking game! I didn’t think I would really like it coming from a game released in 2012. I am now taking my time enjoying GW1.

I think its a lot of the little things like when you tame the pet it attacks you and you get the feeling like you are taming it. You only get one pet with you so you feel like you have a strange bond with it like its more then a NPC.

The pets are not automatically your level so if you release a pet, your giving up the progress you made with it so you can tame a different pet that will start lower then you usually. You can only tame pets like, three levels above you so some you feel like you have to work for a bit. Plus, if you give it up you might find yourself without a pet while searching for a different one, its great!

Also the pets evolve and can be playful, aggressive, elder, dire. Basically I feel Anet took a step backwards with pets in GW2. The original pet mechanics hit the sweet spot.

I tried all the classes a bit around launch and stuck with thief. I made it to 80 and thought it was a great class. After awhile I realized I want to go for a legendary someday and playing asura, my daggers are small and clip while stowed. Lots of work for something so tiny.

Played warrior to a little over 50, mesmer to 45, and messed around some more. I didn’t really give ranger a shot cause on these forums there are a lot of people talking about pets being near useless.

I don’t know about pets being bad but ranger, what a fun class! I really love the GS animations and abilities. I think I like them better then the warrior and guardian.
Also, I love collecting pets. I think underwater combat is a lot more fun with a shark in your pocket.

I tried not to rush my first time through but i know I missed a bunch of DEs. I focused mainly on map completion. Now I think I will go slower. I am loving the ranger!

Hi! I love Asura. I think charr is pretty cool also, but not as fun IMO. Humans and the rest feel to stiff for me to really enjoy.

I play a 80 Asura thief, And I have decided I have some time on my hands and want to go for a legendary. The weapons are small as is, I usually don’t mind but If i put all the work into it, I want to go for something nice. I really love the greatsword. Dagger is cool but twilight is beautiful.

I was thinking of rolling as a warrior for twilight. Played it a bit and i enjoyed it. Do you guys think it might be a better idea for me to play as a charr warrior? The bottom of greatswords already clip the ground a lot of the time with Asura, as well as staffs and long bows clipping the ears. I guess I don’t want to be disappointed with my legendary and wanted to know what you guys think. thanks!

I love this game- Reasons why [Merged]

I wasn’t really looking forward to Orr because of what I read about it on the forums. Now that i’m there, I kinda like it! IMO its challenging and can be frustrating, but I don’t find it annoying if that makes sense. A few times while going around and getting my 100%, I would be getting swarmed by a endless mob, once you fight them off and catch your breath your like man, this place is crazy! Crazy in a good way.
