Basically, it was understood that last week was rather easy for you guys with the French taking a break.
It was also understood that this week, Blacktide would come in.
You have been telling Blacktide for weeks you look forward to fighting us.
We appear, nobody is there.

Why didnt you use last week to take it easier? From what it sounds like, you didnt need to pull the long hours then…
It’s what plenty of us did last week, to get ready for this week.
To get then, this response is rather… yeah.

What I think a lot of people don’t realize is that it hasn’t only been the last few weeks that we’ve been putting in crazy hours. RUIN brought a US server to tier one multiple times. We fought Henge in the height of their domination and did everything we could to fend off their 24hr coverage.

We moved to the Euro bracket because we were hoping we’d have others to share the burden with us. No disrespect to the IRON crew and a few other Deso guilds that can put together maybe 20 people at any given time, but we carried Deso all the way to the top.

Last weeks tier 1 victory kind of made everyone that has been putting in crazy hours for MONTHS take a step back and exhale. I speak for myself when I say that I’m burnt out and wanted to take a break from playing from 3pm to 7am my time. To rebut what every Frenchman loves to write on the boards, our “PvD” only existed for about a 2-3 hour window.

I’m proud of what our guild accomplished. Honestly I feel bad for BT. You guys are good and deserve a better fight than you’re getting this week.

Excuse me Sir, I have to correct something. 50-60 is the number of RUIN’s officers dedicated to WvW.
You didn’t really intimated us, you just zerged us. RG, or NuG can be intimidating sometime, and they don’t make us laugh like you did these past two weeks, in game and on these boards.
I think EU ladder is just too hardcore for you. It’s kitten Vietnam dude, you’ll tell your children : this was a hell of a nightmare over ther, and we lost against outnumbered people dispite all of our low blows.

Lol, so defensive. Have you noticed the mutual respect between BT and Deso? Don’t worry, next week you’ll fight with your friends again.

I gotta say, I’m pretty disappointed in Desolation as a whole. With the exception of a core group of IRON players, RUIN is literally the only substantial force out there – and this is on 1 of 2 servers that is constantly FULL!

We’ve been putting in crazy hours over the last few weeks, and it’s starting to be evident that the success of Desolation lies solely on the man-hours put in by RUIN. You’d think that being part of the top European server would encourage more WvW play from the pugs, but, in fact, it’s had the opposite effect. They’ve become complacent and entirely reliant on us.

Everyone loved to cry PvD at us, and yes, that coverage gave us an advantage, but what i think RUIN did not get credit for, is the hours with which we covered during hour off-time.

Last night was a perfect example. Not an hour or two after reset, there was no queue for any borderland. This was 7pm on the US east coast. As huge as many of you think RUIN is, we cannot fill 4 zones.

All that said, I don’t want to take anything away from what Blacktide is doing. You guys are hungry and it’s evident. If there is one Euro server that deserves to be on top, it’s you guys. I’m just hoping Deso can show you a little more effort than what took place last night.

If I were you (VS/Arbor), I’d be TERRIFIED of Blacktide. They did exactly what you should have done: recruited rather than cried. They’re destroying tier 2 and they have no love for you. We won’t share a Teamspeak server, but I’m sure we’ll both have a preferential enemy.

Hahaha, you guys are so screwed. And to quote Johnny Drama, “The kitten is [our] third favorite hole.” Hope you enjoy the second tier… third.

That’s strange. We thought it might be something like that, but we couldn’t find a large quantity of siege anywhere. We were also losing towers to 4x ram / golem rushes and still were having issues placing siege.

Unless there was a cross-realmer hiding (well) a hundred rams somewhere, it very much seemed like something was buggy… We even had people check the JP for random siege.

I’m not sure about other servers, but on Desolation, we aren’t able to place siege at all in Eternal Battlegrounds.

Any other servers having this issue?

Get rid of the orbs and the 7 day matches would be fine.

As it is, the match is only meaningful until the server with the most population inevitably gets all three orbs (otherwise known as the “I Win Button”).

Naw. Competitive matches have orb swings all day, back and forth. I think that quite often the correlation of a winning server having 3 orbs is misinterpreted as causation.

Orbs make WvW more interesting.

7 days is competitive. 7 days balances the weekends and weekdays.

I’ve heard it might go to 2wk matches, though, and that would be too long. It’d take months to climb the ladder and therefore it would make the server competition even more top-heavy.

IMO, it’s good where it is.

IMO, Desolation is best server for American comrades (thick Russian accent).

Lol, actually, if you’re considering a EU server to move a guild, this is a pretty good option. Xaoc are classy and accountable. I honestly had the most fun fighting these guys out of any EU guild.

Deso just needs to bolster their Russian time zones and BT their American, and it’ll be a kitten fun fight at the top.

Ahh, gotcha. My apologies in that case. That was actually a big reason why we left Eredon Terrace. When the going got tough, we were the ONLY ones out there still fighting.

I’m conflicted. Part of me wants to be in the top two tiers so that at least we come against big forces even in the night, hopefully meaning more meaningful battles all through the day, the other part of me wants all these people who flock to wvw when we win to go away again.

“All these people”? If you’re referring to the migration of RUIN to your server, I think you need to do a little more research. RUIN come from, and was all but solely responsible for , a tier 1 server. We took a 2 week hit setback by moving to Desolation in the hopes that we can fill one another’s off hours.

So not trying to be a prick here, but you are mistaken if you think your success in tier 4 has attracted hangers-on.
