Ok, this has been really getting on my nerves, I got a new PC and downloaded the GW2 Installer Client, and as it downloads it gets to the point where the game is playable but still has a lot to download, and every 10-20 minutes or so, the installer will crash while downloading, sometimes it’ll be a windows style crash where the program will just stop working and sometimes I’ll get an error report as well, (I clicked on report error, just in case). Now, I’ve seen that this is not an uncommon issue and that there are certain ways to fix this, and here’s what I’ve tried to no avail:
- Placing the client installer as Gw2.exe into the installation directory
- Creating a shortcut for the aforementioned file and running as administrator
- Making sure the install folder is NOT Read-Only
- Checking that Windows Firewall isn’t blocking the game
- Checking that AVG isn’t blocking the game
- Creating another shortcut of Gw2, adding -repair and running said file
- Setting custom amount of pagefile space on my hard drive
- Updating my graphics drivers
- Re-downloading the client, deleting all previous files and folders and trying the whole process once again
I am running Windows 7 Service Pack 1, 64 bit and have set the install directory to my “D:\” drive
I have also attached the latest error message as a text document in this post if it could be of any help.
If anyone has any ideas, they are greatly appreciated.
