A long term fix is being worked on for this, but due to the seriousness of the rewards being given incorrectly it was determined that temporarily disabling the rewards was preferable to them being exploited.

What this means about the eventual “real” fix is that it has to be done and tested out to be sure that it is working appropriately again. It’s unfortunately not a simple fix (read: needs a lot of development time) that we can push out quickly.

That’s cool. I’m glad you’re all still working on this.

I’m in no hurry to try out my new HoM rewards, just as long as it’s eventually fixed and not forgotten about.

I went to try some of my Eye of the North unlocks, but when I try to get my item from Kimmes the Historian I receive this message:

That content has been temporarily disabled. Please try again later.

Any reason why the Hall of Monuments rewards have been disabled? Any idea when they will be restored?

Conditions will always be crap as long as there is a 25 cap.

Could someone explain this to me? I was looking at trying a Condition Damage build (perhaps Carrion or Rabid) but have not obtained the armor yet for my level 80 Thief yet. What is so bad about Condition Damage?

I’m looking for advice. I don’t know what I am doing with regards to builds. I’m an extremely casual altaholic.

That’s what I don’t get either. Before, the town clothes were a toggle. Nifty by itself, but they seemed to want to make them into something better. Instead, the programmers got lazy and changed them into potions. I would view the different options like this:

BEST Town clothing is reskinable from the wardrobe for free
GOOD Town clothes have their own inventory, can be switched via a toggle (old system)
BAD Town clothing is reskinable from the wardrobe with $$$ transmutation charges
WORST Town clothes are a 15-minute potion (new system)

It doesn’t make any sense. They could do a rollback and the system would get better.

This is the equivalent of removing the /dance emote from the game and giving the reason “we believe using emotes is something we can add more options to more often and will produce a better supported RP game for everyone with more variety in the future.”

By the way, that’s an actual quote for the reason behind the single-piece town clothes nerf.

It boils down to we believe better armor skinning and the outfit system is something we can add more options to more often and will produce a better supported RP game for everyone with more variety in the future. In short, a healthier game.

Seriously!? O_O

That’s a quote that belongs in a Dilbert comic.

I was doing Queensdale Champ Train with lots of people last night. The nerf certainly didn’t deter people on my server. I will be playing the same amount.

What was the nerf? I’ve heard about it but haven’t looked into the details.

So, my question – How are parties meant to get onto the same instance together when the system puts them in different instances? The old system allowed me to right-click and join them in their instance, but the MegaServer does not appear to offer that functionality. Are we just supposed to zone out and back in over and over in hopes that we’ll get lucky?

Wow, we’ve reverted to Guild Wars 2 – Release Day.

It’s August 28th, 2012 all over again! =D

Nerf the individual Town Clothes?

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-April-15-2014/first#post3896029

Town clothes have been replaced by the wardrobe and outfits as a way to customize characters in and out of combat.

Some single-piece town clothes that are no longer available have been converted to endless tonics that transform the player into a complete casual look, including that single piece of clothing.

The single-piece town clothes were nerfed?

The Town Clothes section has been removed. The single-piece clothing has been converted into potions. The potions last 15 minutes. Those potions choose the rest of your outfit for you. And those outfits can’t be dyed…

Why not just convert all of the single-piece town clothes into their own individual armor skins? If someone bought a Striped Silk Vest with Shirt, why not stick it in the new Wardrobe under ‘Chest’? If someone bought the Khaki Cargo Shorts, why not put it in the new Wardrobe under ‘Leggings’? Do one of the programmer’s think there would be some sort of exploit in doing this?

The way this was handled seems so lazy. Every shirt gets matched up to the same Riding Gloves, Riding Boots, and Riding Pants. The Khaki Shorts get paired with a fitted casual shirt that gives the impression that it’s really cold out here, but it’s summer from the waist down.

Also, I’ve heard that you can apply for a refund on your town clothes, but you only get your money back in Gems. That’s not a refund. That’s trading in your cosmetic clothing for something else in the online store. :/

The million-dollar question is this, what was the point of dropping the old town clothes system? I know the full costumes have been moved to the new Outfit section, but the single-piece town clothes are not part of the new wardrobe system (like I expected) and are a potion instead. All of the old limitations are still there. If you attack anything your town clothes wear off. If a mob hits you your town clothes wear off. So what was the purpose of converting town clothes into tonics? Surely someone at ArenaNet can give us a reason for this?

Unless this gets fixed in a future patch I will never spend cash on GW2 Gems ever again. I know a lot of other people feel the same way, and I doubt the goal of selling micro-transaction fluff is to drive business away. When you troll your own consumer base, you begin your own death spiral.

PS – I am not a roleplayer, this effects everyone who buys fluff.

I would take that with a grain of salt.

Game companies generally do not terminate accounts solely for asking for a cash refund.

Yeah, but would you risk it? O_o

(I’ve read more than enough posts where people have complained of someone they know getting perma-banned for asking for their cash back. It’s seemly like it is common knowledge that you have to let them bend you over a barrel)

From my point of view, unless you’re ready to quit the game cold turkey and move on to another MMO, the only option to fight back against this kind of behavior is to stop spending cash on their micro transactions permanently.

You can ask for a cash refund, but they will most likely terminate your account.

Yeah, I kind of got that vibe from some other threads.

Let them rip me off and I lose my cash and my single-piece town clothes, or ask for a cash refund and have them terminate my account along with all of the other cash items I already paid for.

What a deal

(…guess it’s option 1 then…) :/

Refunds like getting your money back? You can’t.

Refunds like you get gems back? You can submit a ticket.

It’s for this reason that I refuse to buy anymore gems. ArenaNet has just shown that they will alter/delete the things they will sell people for cash, and offer nothing in return except a coupon for other virtual stuff you don’t want.

No you won’t. All you’ll get out of it is more gems. That is not a refund.

What if the only single reason you paid real life cash for gems were to buy that certain cosmetic item? That one article of clothing that is now a useless tonic? What are you going to do with those extra gems now? Buy some inferior cosmetic fluff perhaps?

“Sorry you lost your Designer Hoodie and Khaki Cargo Shorts. Perhaps you would like to be a Denny’s cook, pirate stripper, or snow globe ornament instead?”
“Err… no thanks.”

I would hesitate to do even that, patterns have shown that it could change into a tonic in the future.

PVP Gear and the Mystic Forge

in Crafting

Gwen.7981

Thanks for the link, but I’ve found that page before and it doesn’t tell me what I am trying to figure out. (Or I’m too stupid to see it)

What you linked shows how to make a PVP item by combining arcane powder, an equipment token, rank token, and arcane token to make a PVP item.

What I am trying to figure out is how to take a piece of PVP equipment (for example a PVP Shield) and then combine it with something else.

I’ll try to screenshot what I am talking about

PVP Gear and the Mystic Forge

in Crafting

Posted by: Gwen.7981

Gwen.7981

I’ve tried researching this as best I can, but I can’t figure it out…

I’ve got some PVP gear from opening the achievement chests. And then I noticed that I could put a single piece of PVP gear in the Mystic Forge. But nothing else will go along with it, even if it’s the same type of item. For example, I can put one PVP shield in there, but I can’t put another 2-3 PVP shields along with it. Every other item is grayed out.

So my question is, if I can put a single piece of PVP gear in the Mystic Forge, what kind of stuff does it combine with?

(PS – I tried to look this up. But all the info I could find seems to involve using items to make PVP gear, not making something from PVP gear.)

Health potion "upgrade" is a downgrade...

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Posted by: Gwen.7981

Gwen.7981

I agree with the OP. If I had known that the Medium Health Bottle would cause my potions to become so expensive, I would never have bought the downgrade.

And I would have got the Major in Enhancement achievement by sending an alt to go get the Medium Health Bottle, and then had my main get everything else. This is the best idea for anyone who has not purchased the Medium Health Bottle yet!

As it is now, my main character already bought the Wooden Whistle, Nice Scoop, Chain Sticks, and Torch for a total of 1375 baubles so I’m not sure if I want to start over with an alt just to avoid the Medium Health Bottle downgrade. But, like everyone else has said, extra lives are now cheaper than health. The health vial has become useless, it is a downgrade.

Sure would be nice if I could choose which health bottle to use…

Infinite Continue Coin > all the health potions.

I’m sure that is the reason behind the downgrade, and why you will never see it fixed. Making heal potions too expensive for practical use pushes players a little bit closer to spending that $7.50 in the online store. And I never buy microtransaciton items that are put in the game to counterbalance a nerf. Feels too much like I am being suckered.

Post here if you have BEAT the Tower!

in Halloween Event

Posted by: Gwen.7981

Gwen.7981

I’ve mastered jumping the tower and can do it probably every 4th try on average. No speed boosts, done it will all 5 of the races…

Human!!**
Asura
Sylvari
Norn
Charr

Also, and I swear this is true, the Clock Tower seems the absolute hardest to climb as a human. And it’s not because the big races get in the way. Humans seem to slip off the side, make short jumps, and get grabbed by the skeleton hands WAY more often than any other race’s. If you can picture your human character trying to do the Clock Tower while riding a spinning top then it’ll make more sense.
The easiest race to do it with is the Charr.

Oh yeah, and as one final tip. Drop your video settings and your resolution to the absolute minimum when attempting this. The extra smoothness will help you a ton.
