Guild Wars 2

Been here since the first month. I can’t think of any other place I would rather be some really good people and lots of community involvement. When you know what you are capable of you have something, NSP has that all over the place and it’s stood the test of time. You won’t be disappointed coming here

I first want to preface this FIRST with I am not a complete and true representative of the Northern Shiverpeaks Server. I am a guild leader for Phoenix Battalion and a person like many on any server.

—WARNING— way to long wall of text coming. everyone in NSP makes fun of my novels but I like to ramble and I am old so stick around Sorry Curo, Gabe, Oz, Omne, Razzy, Boom, etc….

When friday 4-11-14 at reset hit last week we were all gathered on the various TS’s, Vent’s and other Voip’s talking about how we are going to handle probably the toughest week we have ever had. We had hopes that IoJ was going to be beatable and that YB probably was not. We have had 2 successful weeks now and this was going to show some folks that we can do it. Friday was a non stop fight and we thought we weren’t doing so bad.

ON Saturday, we gathered again and spoke more of our strats and things that we all thought we could do to pull out a 2nd place victory. Confidence was high and we felt a 2nd was within our reach. Fights were again tough and abundant. Push here, lose there, re-take, fight, ALL Saturday long……. Sunday was the same thing. A non-stop fight for 24 hours. Some doubted our chance to take 2nd, but in NSP we are very strong endgame people. We fight till that last breath. I stood up and said I would put money on it and that we would take 2nd. In this chess match we are strong finishers. I owe some peeps $20…and that’s ok with me.

The Monday, Tuesday fights saw us bring the pain and we took 2nd and rocked it !! People knew we were going to do it and all the doubters were shut up. I was going to win my bet because (like Fairy Tale) I believe in my Server, Guild, Comrades, WvW team and we never give up on each other no matter what. We have come from facing Outnumbered odds from the VERY beginning. We have struggled to make a Server Community into a FAMILY !! We have turned defeat into an accomplishment on SO many things that I can’t tell you the difference I feel about our NSP pride. Those days we soared on being in 2nd place and we went out and rocked that WvW world once more, GUNNING for 1st !! Yea, we wanted to beat YB REALLY BAD.
and then wednesday happened…..

I think half of the IoJ people were mad at the WvW crowd or something because it seemed like IoJ completely doubled their numbers and their coverage and they have poured over us like a freakiing avalanche…. and I mean !! We started to see our much comfy lead dwindle until we woke up one morning to a completely IoJ BL and us ticking 0…… The doomsayers are now crawling the streets “toldya we can’t win… blah blah blah” “the end is near…..” " you can’t play "….. signs waving everywhere about how we couldn’t have done it anyways….

SO to you Isle of Janthir and also to you Yak’s Bend, I want to say thank you !! Human nature has proven time again that which does not kill you will only make you stronger. You guys haven’t killed us. Northernshiverpeaks Server has made so may internal changes at the community level that getting ourselves this far is an accomplishment in itself. We now have a group of solid, check that, VERY solid hardcore Guilds proving they can stomp some people in open field fighting. Our communication and response times when we are on, are solid and effective. We have 2-4 BL channels with people in them almost 14-18 hours per day and 1 channel has at least 5-10 people 24/7. We have old guilds and our new transfers working hand in hand with each other as if we had been partnered from the beginning. Our population on reset night saw us get 4 maps qued for the first time in NSP HISTORY !! They were small ques… all less than 50 but that was a turnout that was fantastic !! NSP has come a long ways……

I have taught Jujitsu for 10 years now and I also get to speak a lot in our Server meetings, hahaha much to the boredom of some I am sure. I teach 2 things to my school when I train them for tournaments —- that you never really lose, you only win or learn—— and —— it’s not how many times you get knocked down that count, only the times you get back up.

NSP will be there at reset tonight. We get back up EVERY TIME.

HAIL NSP !!!

Our Oceanic timezones are not good and could use a boost. Meaning we only have people if they stay up late and put in extra time. If you are a group looking to make something big happen or you are already big and your Server is no longer feeling like your home. NSP has the answer for you !!

A group from this timezone would be able to really take off here and become the extra boost that our Tournament play needs. PvE wise you would also be able to contribute your skills and players to continuing to play with our limited night crews. Thusly helping new players that have a hard time getting with others at this time. I would encourage and salute any group willing to step forward to be the Night time crew that makes NSP an even better place to be.

Is there anyone out there willing to accept the challenge ??

We did end up 15th. Great community effort and a lot of hard fights. Really enjoyed commanding most of the week. Was a ton of fun! Will look forward to seeing the new guilds in game should they choose to come over. We literally have had zero incoming transfers to our server so it will be a nice change for once! <3 NSP

Doom that is very true ! Through a collaboration of many guilds our NorthernShiverpeaks Council now has many dedicated players that knew what they were doing for a long time and now have come together to work magic on the field. In the last few weeks all of our Guilds combined efforts have paid off huge. Our opponents know it all to well also. What once was just a group of various people, have now become a solid force when we play. Extra efforts from all of our top Guilds are starting to become a thing to behold and enjoy. 40+ people on 2 different channels on the NSP TS is a sight for sore eyes. We have all worked hard to make this and now we can show it to the other Servers who doubted us.

We may make a name here, or we may not. But I can assure you we have a good time while we are doing it and the aggressive, nasty hate that you used to see so often is gone from our chats and our TS. NSP is now a team that knows it’s place on and off the field. We work to make our teams more co-operative, guilds/groups abilities more group focused for successful maneuvers, and we execute knowledgeable strategies against our enemies to make our loot bags FULL !! AKA WINNING !!

I will go on record and say that we can hold our own against equal numbers all day long. Everyone can be beaten with coverage, but you can’t out skill us….. and when you do we are watching you…… you won’t be able to do it long. I am proud of our NSP skills and our ability to work together…….

Why aren’t you here ??

What you knew about the old NSP wasn’t good. In-fighting, unorganized, tollfest with a mixture of crap and BS to top it off……. that is no more.

My name is Les and I lead Phoenix Battalion [PB]. I and a LOT of fellow Guild Leaders, and Members have been in the background this whole time shaking our heads at what we had and when the BS crossed the line the entire group of NSP that had had enough spoke up. This is the result…….. a much needed change in thinking.

Northernshiverpeaks.org —- A website created and maintained by most of the truly dedicated people here on this server is what we are doing now. Teq Thursdays, Scheduled WvW guild nights and Multi-guild nights, Worm runs, Temple runs, Living Story runs, Dungeon runs, PvP tourneys and Team play….. did I leave anything out ?? How about instructions and Sponsorships for guilds/people looking to join on this server ? How about finding some of the most helpful and friendly people in this game ? Maybe just a quiet place to play your way ?? Northernshiverpeaks is your answer without question.

Gone are the days of this or that group demanding homage/taxes/your playtime…. what we have learned through much hard work and effort is that it’s the DIVERSITY that makes us here on NSP, VERY STRONG. Some will point at us and claim that to be a negative, I will tell you from experience that it was. Not now, now we take that diversity and embrace the idea that ONLY through our diversity have we come to understand that we ALL (in all our wacky ways) want something that every Server desires, Unity, Teamwork, Communication, and mostly, FUN. We have marched though our hell and found that we are a lot more together in our ideas than we thought. Now we are taking ALL our ideas to the Northernshiverpeaks.org website and putting them together to achieve what ALL of us want. Better playing through teamwork. I, for one, am proud and happy to say that we are accomplishing great things by following such a grand idea.

Are we suddenly going to be a gold tier team or start becoming the new Blackgate ?? Doubtful, in fact I would not like this place as much if we had to “conform” to this or that to be able to play at such a level. What we have tho is a NSP Team that walks onto the field knowing that we can hold our own against anyone out there. When we lose we LEARN. If you have played against our Field teams (namely Os & Zos) then you KNOW that those guys bring pain to the field. We are very pleased at how well these guys perform on the field. Their leadership has given rise to many other Commanders that make our Field Teams better and better every day ! Our Community TS has made response times and group gathering even more effective in our defense as well. TFG, PB, MOO, MeSi, AoT, AoG, El, sYn, KoTR, ICON, MAGI and the list keeps getting bigger from the Guilds that are now coming in to show that we can hold our PPT as well as go out and do the Karma Train. We have very few que’s still, but on scheduled nights we can make one every time. That’s a commitment we have not seen our server ever.

How about our Commanders ?? Ira, Smitry, CosmicWarmachine, Thiefanator, I Cant Stop, Pointe, Arkanys, Tiberius, C Fabian, Haessk, Sydewind, Moontrance, Shirin Shi, Yoren Foehammer, Avatar Dreximir, Maryeth, Nutty, Leggo my Draggo, Cyan Darr, Innuendo, and SO MANY OTHERS !! This is what I speak of when I say diversity. These guys and girls have stepped up to lead not only their fellow guildies but also the entire Server to more and more victories than ever before. I am also very happy that I get to play with those people here. Their experience and ability show on the field every time I go out to play WvW. These are people I would follow on the field any day of the week and I am proud to fight beside them. It’s because of people like them that we have become better. Now our Server can hold it’s head up high and speak from a respectable postion, not just a bunch of trash talking about what we are “gonna do”.

If you are looking for a solid, fun-loving, core-driven, newly respectable group of people to enjoy your GW2 playtime then NSP is the home you are after. Talk to any Representative of the NSP and you will find out the truth about us.

I think the MOO players are onto something here…. Dolyaks would be a boost to a profession that would be interesting. Not only that, but offering new ideas to the pet selections itself would also stir up more play from the Ranger category. PLUS, not something that would need a lot of work to accomplish since the code needed for this is probably already there. This is an idea that could offer more pets from the land of Tyria to make an appearance on the Ranger list as well……

I throw my vote in for this as well but you don’t have to stop with Dolyaks either !!

I firmly believe that if you can show me a commander that can — upgrade the tower he just took, run the yaks from the camps that he upgraded, protect and siege the keep he helped capture, watch the map for the flipping of points done not only by his enemies but by his own server mates, command the group he’s running, talk jokes on his TS with his server and his guild, determine what targets he will now take… etc… THEN I WANT TO SEE THAT SO I CAN TEACH MY PEOPLE TO DO IT THEMSELVES AS WELL, PLEASE SHOW ME HOW !! I WILL FOLLOW YOU RIGHT NOW !!

I am sick and tired of the “I am the only commander on the field and I can do it all !” mentality. YOU CAN’T…. PERIOD. I teach my entire guild that one of the best ways to control a map is to break down the Title of Commander. We have 4 titles… Call Commander, Scout Commander, Zerg/Field Commander and Tower Commander. The names speak for themselves and are pretty much easy to understand except for the “Call Commander”. This is the guy that studies his BL map that he is working on for the night and looks for trends in the enemies attacks. This is a person that sits on ALL the maps and deciphers the “flow of the map fights”. The C-Com is the guy that listens and watches the map he is helping on and tells his MULTIPLE Comms what is going on on the field and what the enemy is doing. C-Coms collect information on the fly from Scouts and Scout Comms and by watching the map and the things that only someone who is doing NOTHING but watching the map will be actually able to see. He also hands out the R.I. countdowns to his Comms on the field so they can decide what target they can hit. We all know about the Live feed and can watch that, but no one really DEDICATES time to paying attention to it. We do in [PB]. I have been pushing our Guild to have MANY Commanders and the communication ground rules laid in to make it work. When we go out into the field we take as many up to 5 Comms right off the bat. We want a guy to lead the Zerg = Field Com. We want a guy and a crew to set-up in the tower we just took = Tower Com. We want scouts in the field that can be spotted and are good at relaying information = Scout Com. AND finally we need a Comm that looks “Down” over the whole map and sees all these Coms and helps direct the flow of traffic = C-Com. This system is EXTREMELY effective and is one we are supporting in NSP. It’s a new thing for the Server but it’s catching on quickly.

WHO am I that I can tell someone to turn their dot off ?? Who am I that I can walk onto a field with more people and now claim we need to stop what is working and tell the other Comms to listen to me ONLY ?? WHY do you think 1 Commander is capable of doing everything that HAS TO BE DONE IN WvW ??? IT’S IMPOSSIBLE !!!

This system works with ANY combination of Comms/Guilds/Alliances… etc. We DO NOT run ANY Commander off the field EVER. Good or Bad. EVERY server knows a good Com and a bad one. The bad ones don’t get people to follow them for very long. The good ones (and their are lots of them) will be just as good with 5 people or 500 following them. What is the single most important thing in this system is the Communication on the field. We have been working this system for a few months now. We have had up to 8 Comms on the field at the same time, all with 1-30 people in them and we have MAJOR success when we all get together to do it.

Teamwork is the only thing you need. Once that hurdle is cleared then you are on the road to your Server becoming a powerhouse. I promise. If anyone from any server would like to come and watch this work, or join up with a Guild that believes in having EVERY Commander that can bring people onto the field EVERY TIME !! Then come to NSP, join [PB] Phoenix Battalion and I will show you how it can be done.

Avatar Dreximir (ele), Deathby Smashing (Guard), Mezmuroenius (Mes) – All my Commanders on the NSP field and my Guild has 12 Commanders that specialize in the positions that I talked about. IT WORKS !!

Lots of different personalities also inhabit the great NSP server. We have stong WvW oriented guilds and we have subtle ones. Guilds that require your time and effort on a weekly basis and ones that are as casual as your slippers. Scheduled events, Scheduled WvW, Scheduled Temples, friendly guilds, crazy guilds, all kinds of different people and things that go on in a Community fashion are here in NSP. We are diverse in thought and tactics, and while some may say that mixes like oil and water, the NSP community has adapted to our crazy mix of characters and made something a little different to behold. Sometimes we are seemingly to kitteny, while other times we say nothing and just come in and whoop azzzes. WvW battles seem out of control and then they all end up together stomping Borderlands for a whole day to take a 2nd place snatch it from behind victory. There’s a lot to be said for a Server that can go from “eh, who cares… to We won’t die !!!” in the same breath. Don’t ever count us down and out cause that’s when we rise to bring the pain to the enemy. We aren’t the best, and never claimed to be, but we have a lot of fun being the goofy family of people that we are here.

Phoenix Battalion[PB] and MANY other great guilds issue a challenge to any player/s — come and snoop around, come and take a good look and ask many other people what is what here. All the cool things that happen here in GW2 You will find a solid community of folks doing them, and doing them well. Come and see……

So I get Pink and white checkboard over the Vistas and in certain areas, at the top of Vendor screens, in the top section of the Guild window, above the Stamina Bar, and other places.

When i get to a vista I hit F and it completely clears the screen like the “Ctrl-shift-h” option. But then locks up everything. Sometimes after a couple of minutes or so it will completely crash, sometimes not. I have noticed a HUGE amount of crashing now tho, this came AFTER I updated all the drivers. It has crashed 5-7 times now since the update and it never crashed before, yet still had the Pink checkerboard pattern. This has been going on about 5 hours now since I have started messing with all the settings I could find. I have yet to figure out how to change or alter anything that will get the checkerboard to go away. I have turned it completely up and completely down. I have turned everything off and all back on. Nothing in the game settings will affect it, and so far nothing in the Control panel, the Nvidia Control Panel, or anywhere else that I have tried seems to change anything.

HELP !!
