I saw someone mention elsewhere (reddit) that this is connected to the four professions who have had elite specs revealed (so the indicator only comes up on Guardian, Ranger, Ele, Mesmer and Necro). Can you confirm?

Lets talk about the new Gem conversion [Merged]

This is horrendous. I’m done.

Two years of playing, more than $500 spent on gems, more than 9,000 achievement points… This is a complete and total turnoff, coming from someone who doesn’t even convert gold to gems in the first place.

The Future You Want - survey results

Last week, I ran a survey called “What future do you want? Upcoming development of Guild Wars 2.” The survey got a pretty strong response – 3,638 responses total – through its release on Reddit, Guild Wars 2 Guru and the official forums.

Formatting all the data proved to be a huuuuuuge challenge (it took me a couple hours to put it together for Reddit alone). So on that note, instead of reformatting everything to post it here, I’m just going to link the post over there. Feel free to comment here, however. The results are really interesting.

nice survey. pretty comprehensive. Only complaint would be that Q16 didnt have a “doesnt matter to me either way” option.

Good point, I didn’t think of that. Right now that response is pretty overwhelming in the “keep it at 80” response, but I wonder how many would have taken “don’t care” if it was there.

there was no mention of anything that needed fixing before moving on to new content like combat, balance in PVE, rewards, etc there was also no mention of anything non-combat related that needed updating like fishing, farming, or housing.

You know, I thought I was pretty comprehensive in the questions, but some of the responses I’m getting are showing that I really should have thought just a bit more about this and the responses. I’ve been arguing for fishing for a while now, and I’ve been pushing for SAB as well (but someone actually had to remind me that I didn’t ask a single question about it).

I think, when I put the results out, I’ll be mentioning the things I forgot to mention that some of the responses were asking about.

They can do something like Rift does where they’re available on the cash shop, so they’re easy to purchase.

It almost sounds like they do something very similar to that right now, with the Living Story purchases for 200 gems (basically $2.50). When I put this question in, I was thinking about the bonus pack in Guild Wars 1, where you had three or four stories to work through with a few hours of content in each.

It would be interesting if they were to provide larger content at a larger price (i.e. $10). Kind of like DLC…

Link to the survey

With the release of the feature pack tomorrow, Guild Wars 2 adds a number of features that many in the community are excited about. Meanwhile, several others – maybe more than those excited – are frustrated it has taken two years for some of these changes to become part of the game. All the while, certain sub-communities within the greater GW2 community are frustrated with their part of the game not getting as much attention as other parts, i.e. the Living Story and gem store.

So with the game’s second Feature Pack coming out and the rest of Living Story season 2 later this fall, now would be a good time to get a read on what the community wants. I’ve put this comprehensive poll together and have explored just about every aspect of the game that I felt could be expanded, to get a feel for what direction those who play the game more than casually would like to see.

I’ll release the results later this week after it has made its rounds. It’ll be interesting to see what comes up!

All told, I think your points have merit for lower scales but would prefer that the higher scales not get swatted by the nerf bat. This is the only instanced PVE content people looking for a challenge have to choose from and we aren’t fond of suggestions to make it easier.

Keeping with the spirit of the thread, it may help to have lower tiers do a better job teaching what is happening during the encounters. Perhaps during cliffside when the chanters heal the seal a map notification could be broadcast to inform the players that the chanters are healing it.

Great response. My earlier post was all written from the perspective of somebody who just hit scale 20 tonight and has been doing it almost exclusively by playing with pugs. The first time I played 29 (which was as soon as I got my hands on 25AR) it felt liberating, how fast the group was moving.

Fractal Feedback Thread [Suggestions]

When you put content in a game, the goal should be for players to go into it with the expectation of enjoying their experience. There are two or three fractals, however, where I feel the overall perception of them emits groans from just about everybody who enter them.

Fractals shouldn’t be about going in and hoping you get good rolls on which fractals you end up facing. And you especially shouldn’t dread the boss roll, after having spent an hour getting to that point in hopes you don’t face Mai Trin.

Here are the fractals I have the greatest issue with, and what I think could be done to fix them:

CLIFFSIDE FRACTAL: This fractal is fine, on the most part. But I feel the moment where you must break the wrist seals is far too daunting a task for most pick-up groups to navigate without having the seals heal back to full health a few times. The continued problem with the hammer vanishing also frustrates a lot of groups. I feel this can be fixed by reducing the speed at which the seals heal and correcting the bug pertaining to the vanishing hammer.

UNDERGROUND FACILITY FRACTAL: The biggest problem with this fractal is getting organized with the touchplates to open the gate without getting hit by enemy fire. Cutting the time required to open the door will go a long way.

CAPTAIN MAI TRIN BOSS FRACTAL: I have never met anybody who enjoys this. I would either remove it completely or significantly nerf the entire battle. The worst parts is how much time it takes to get her shields down so we can do any damage, as getting her to pull through the electrified AOE is really tough when you don’t have a group that can just stack and tough it out.

MORE BOSS FRACTALS: I can think of a few boss fights that could be added to the end of this so that there is more variety at the end of the line. One that comes to mind is the Shadow of the Dragon boss fight at the end of Dragon Reach Part Two. I would also love to see a few of the boss fights from Guild Wars 1 make their way to this, and maybe even some of the shorter story missions from the game make their way into here.

Stat Combos

This may seem like a crazy idea, but how about literally adding an opportunity for no combinations? As in, adding items that skew stats in one direction completely instead of maybe 50/25/25 across three stats (so only one thing would get a boost, and it would be a total of what would normally be spread across three lines)? That could give us the choice to go all power at the cost of crit chance, or something to that effect.

Well, salvaging any item unlocks it in your wardrobe, so that won’t be an issue.

From the blog:

‘Skins can be unlocked by using consumables, equipping items, salvaging equipment, or right-clicking on equipment and account-binding it.’

Lol, ninja’d.

Well then! It appears I am going to be perfectly all set and unlocking stuff 1) without having to play alts and 2) without even knowing it. This solves all of the problems!

Also, each item allows you to right-click on it to unlock it, maybe that option will be greyed-out if it is already unlocked.

That will help, but the way I charge through WvW, I end up salvaging 10-15 items roughly every half hour. If there was something just on the tooltip telling me if it was unlocked or not, that would make it easier than just right-clicking every item before salvaging them.

Granted, that’s a really minor thing to be inconvenienced by, but the amount of time i spend salvaging would cause it to really, really add up.

I for one am going to go crazy on April 15 tracking down every single skin in the game, both weapon and armor. I mean, hell, I’m already planning which of my light-, medium- and heavy-armored alts I’m going to play to soulbind and unlock armor skins!

I haven’t seen any indication of this so it may already be implemented, but in case it isn’t, can we PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE have a tooltip on items informing us, like dyes, if we’ve unlocked or not unlocked a particular weapon or armor skin?
