I have heard some talk about new DB transfers not showing up. Do you have any idea how much gold these people paid to transfer to DB? They are not sitting on their laurels and doing PvE and Story stuff. The transfers are out for blood. If they wanted to relax they might have gone to do some RP on TC.
I am a native DBer and WvWer, and a proud member of RE, which originated as a transfer guild much to the chagrin of many of my friends. The people I see not showing up are the “Pugs” as well call them in TS (the people who are not in communication with us in TS). CO, FIRE, RE, AGG, these guilds get in there and devote the majority of their time to WvW. These guilds are holding DB together in WvW, and for people to imply otherwise is just silly.
Every server has its transfers. Don’t bemoan the fact that you are not as attractive as us.
And DB is nowhere close to having a pact with FA. We still remember FA and their honey-do’s on behalf of JQ. So if Mag is feeling a sting, it’s only because they are getting a taste of competition.
DB’s problem is that many are fair-weather, and every guild has them. DB is not going to really move ahead until WvWers accept when they might lose and still stick around. The people I see sticking around the most are some of our major transfer guilds, legacy guilds, with the random pugs thrown in.
No matter how you cut it, there is entirely too much complaining on all sides about double-teaming, zerging, and what have you. Just get in there and play, get on your Teamspeak, and let the rest sort itself out.
Qft … pretty much everything in this post is the real deal. Just like the DB-lifers stick up for those who fight for it, so we also have to balance it out when we hear the transfers attributing DB only moving from T5 because of them. In any event, as Spiffy says, way too much complaining in general – just play the game or if you enjoy something else, go do something else, win or lose.
I hope DB can sort out their internal troubles. I want them to stay well above us in ranking so long as NNK o’clock is a thing.
Could someone please explain the internal troubles DB is having? I have not noticed anything but this guy says it’s happening so it must be true.
NNK logged into game, NNK pressed B, NNK found its +600 already, NNK can’t farm badges anymore, NNK decided to go southsun/fotm/AC/cof p1, and Mag trolled on forum. International trouble: not enough loot bags.
Sounds about right, though replace <NNK with Any Regular DB Guild> – there’s a recipe for “internal troubles” right there. A bit like First World Problems, though this is more of a “Tier 2” problem when not matched up with Tier 2 servers.
Am very much in favour of number 1 in each matchup moving “up”, number 3 in each matchup moving “down” and number 2 stays where they are at.
Reckon WvW would be more interesting that way.
I have an important message to deliver to the citizens of Dragonbrand.
An immortal walks among you.
The tale goes as such—my guildies and I were doing what we could to protect the yaks walking from the Vale supply camp to Bay on DBBL, reset night, and admittedly not doing too well as two stealth spam thieves were basically trolling us.
One of them a bit harder than the other.
“Dragonbrand General”, was his name, armed with the Legendary Quip, had decided to take up residence between Briar and the supply camp, waiting in the ninja cata spot of the tower for our fluffy yaks to spawn, for him to mercilessly slaughter.
And it was indeed merciless. He would appear, and disappear. It was like fighting a ghost that stacks bleeds and is nigh untargetable. We looked downright foolish trying to stop him.
Little did I know how foolish trying to stop him was.
Eventually, fed up of the situation, I took a trip back to the spawn and purchased one of those Stealth Disruptors. I knew the thief liked to hide by the tower, so we posted there as bait. “Lure him over the trap, and then we’ll have his worthless invader hide”, I told my guildie.
And for a moment I actually thought this would work.
He did indeed walk right into the trap, with all the confidence of someone who is used to abusing cheap tactics for easy victory, I mean, when all you have to do is hit 5 and then 1 until you win or your opponent gets tired and leaves, why would you even blink at the thought of two players retreating from you into a narrow passage? Nothing has made you have to -think- while playing this game before, after all.
Then things got interesting.
Swiftness buffs activated and ranged attacks blazing, we madly hunted down the enemy General, who we thought must have been in a mad panic, a dash for his life. He ran, and he ran, but it was no use, it turned out, without his stealth spam, he was just another squish. Not too far from the ninja cata spot, we down him behind the tower. Eyes gleaming murderously we get ready to enjoy our long awaited kill.
Except… Right after hitting the down state.. The Dragonbrand General vanished.
Now I am aware, thieves are a sneaky sort. I also am not fully versed in the Stealth Disruptor’s features, whether the Revealed persists on down, or anything like that. What I am aware of though, as I have my own 80 Thief, is that it is not possible through any combination of the downstate teleport and the stealth move, to get so far away from a chasing Ranger as to escape their pet AI aggro. Correct me if I’m overlooking something, but I am 97% sure.
So.. We waited there, at the spot where he vanished. There was no exp granted, no bag dropped. It was silent and calm as if there had been no furious chase, no battle at all.

Immune to all things death, upon entering the downstate he just disappeared, beyond my mortal comprehension, possibly to the realm of the gods themselves.

I’ve seen dead Dragonbrand. I’ve even killed some of you. Which means that your General is keeping secrets from you.

I find this behavior rather selfish and if I was one of you, Dragonbrand, I would be demanding some answers.

+1 Some TC are indeed very special… that was the longest repetitive post I’ve ever read… salute
As for the immortality thing… Thieves are OP… nerf thieves!!!
Someone’s obviously angry that their sense of entitlement to a free bandwagon win has been disrupted twice now by TC and FA.
10/10 would wat again
I never said TC didn’t deserve this week’s win. I never said that DB “should have” won or “deserved” to win. All I did was nominally criticize one aspect of TC’s game. If you can’t take that, it’s not my problem
You did a bit more than “nominally criticise”. You forgot the part where you said that TC wouldn’t have won without FA’s help. Nobody likes a smart-aleck!
Right, so I’m a “smart alec” for doubting it, but it’s perfectly okay for TC to say they would have “still won” without FA’s help.
Got it.
Because it’s true. All FA did was turn up to the party uninvited and cause some trouble by camping your spawn in EB and then taking Jerrifer’s. You know, the whole WvW meta doesn’t revolve around LLK and EB. Or were you not paying attention to TC flipping your borderland red? Get over yourself.
Actually FA turned all of eb blue pretty much the other night. That was pretty impressive. When FA wants something, they usually get it.
Yeah, I saw kitten of that! FA seems to get what they want when they want it… I just don’t think they have the population to do it consistently. Someone did a Game of Thrones breakdown of the servers a few weeks ago. My interpretation is that FA is the North: tactically adept, they win battles. But TC (Lannisters) have the numbers and the gold and their overall strategy is superior. kitten if I know who DB is though, we don’t really have an identity in this tier yet :P
EDIT: what. the. deuce. ANet, please fix this filter. My first sentence is “I saw a screenshot of that,” although “screenshot” is abbreviated. Why this is filtered I cannot begin to comprehend.
We’re the Dragon crossing the Narrow Sea of course!
Building up – our full potential not yet realized.
This. And Dynarys Stormborn talking to Grey Worm about being free men is like the original DBers chatting with the newcomers – grateful for the help and telling them they can decide their own destiny =)
Holy hell this is still anyone’s game.
GOO TC GOO!
everyone except fa
Ok, here’s my take on everything.
- TC/FA taking a break – so are people on DB. New PvE content, finals week, burn out, OP Arrowcarts, etc etc – those are not unique to your respective server. We’re ALL going through this.
- I, for one, do not care for T1 nor have understood the lure of it. Would it be an accomplishment for Dragonbrand to hit T1? Absolutely, I would be extremely proud of Dragonbrand if we ever accomplish that. But, like many servers before, people will get bored/burned out and eventually transfer off or stop playing all-together. T1 is where servers go to die – fact. It is an inevitablity that only a server’s community can remedy until a better system is put in place.
- Should Dragonbrand implode (for a second time) as many of you are wishing and hoping (don’t even try and hide it) – I welcome it. The most fun i’ve had is fighting our way back up with those that chose to rough it out after the exodus – it was tough, but gave us a sense of accomplishment and sculpted the core WvW community. Win or lose, every week was something new, every red name was different. Why do you think it’s hard recruiting guilds from Dragonbrand? I’ve only known of one major guild that left Dragonbrand since our rise back up – and some of them have already returned.
I am sure I can speak for most of my guild and hopefully most of Dragonbrand when I say, we’ve been there, done that and we’ll gladly do it again. Elephant Ambush, no matter how big or small, T1 or T8 and everything in-between, we will remain on Dragonbrand.
Amen… though that wont stop every server we fight from trying to bribe DB-ers to leave DB… so many contemplations of taking the money and carrying on with business as usual staying loyal to DB… but that would be mean… still good for laughs (and boy have we laughed many times over the server journeys through the tiers and the bribery offers)
All Dragonbrand commanders are excellent, are well-respected, and play their part in our performance.
Yup, that’s about right!
Always has been the DB way, and hopefully always will be =)
do we ask how much gold your SEA crew spend everyday on trebs and golems and cata/rams? no…
Cant speak for all SEA of course, but as someone who runs a lot at that time, only with MG and YB in T3 can we consistently get piles of seige every night without fail from the jp, and we tend to donate the thousands of seige drops across the hundreds of SEA players every night to our WvW-ers… I’m sure some spend money to buy seige, but we definitely get loads and loads of seige every night from EB jp courtesy of YB and MG… if nothing else for that reason alone I wish YB and MG will be our opponents for many more weeks – need to stock pile those thousands of Badges from the jp chest for the new Ascended gear that is supposed to be available with badges… whenever that may be /shrug
Someone just keeps asking SEA players to answer his/her question, so here I come.
AS an Asian player who participate wiping out wvw map every night, I can easily tell you why.
“We want to get DB to higher tier by ourselves, not just join another server.”
Is this clear enough??This is not going to happen, and it’s only making the matchup really lopsided and time-zone dependent. I kinda wish something would change, but I don’t see it happening.
You’re entitled to your own opinion (like everyone else) but NNK (and a number of other die-hard guilds) that have been here from the start or at least risen from T6 match by match week-by-week can totally attest to how wrong your opinion is. He means we have gone up the ranks fighting and fighting regardless of the situation and match up and odds, and we have been rising through the tiers day by day “by ourselves” meaning that we didnt do it through treason and betrayal of our server like TSYM did a number of times and other guilds with terribly fairweather reputations jumping server to server as the mood hits.
Some of us really like the fact that we’ve roughed it out, though that doesnt mean we dont appreciate all the newcomers on the way. It just means some players do not want to rise through the tiers with short cuts.
lol
In any case there will always be a commander who will do certain things when they cap your towers / keeps / garrison or wipe your zerg. I know of a white haired ele DB commander who is part of NNK or BP does the laugh thing above several of our commanders bodies. In response a few of our commanders do the /disagree haha.
hi
for us now is 10:00am,most of us just in working hours
and i think we havent main cmd is ele and can work in this hour
sorry for my poor english
I have to second this as well – NNK are a very well respected guild and actively tell their members off for emoting insults, especially /laugh because we do not think it is nice when it happens to us so we do not do it to others. NNK is rather huge though with 500 members capped and a large chunk of whom are active in WvW, with significant chunks active in WvW around the clock.
I have been running with NNK for a few months now (since I started WvW a few months ago) and know of no white-haired elementalist NNK commanders – if any others saw any member do it, they would be chastised, let alone commanders.
Sorry you had that experience, hopefully the /laughs end for all nice peoples anywhere in any map (and world peace and all that good stuff too! Excelsior!)
p.s. I have to admit I have seen team chat posts when playing about how a so-and-so loser commander was just pwned but that’s rather different from /laugh as an emote. Loser commanders that get pwned many times in a few minutes serve as good examples to the wider WvW community on how important the lives of Commanders are for morale (both for the Invaders as well as Defenders)

… DB’s NNK-o’clock wipes out their map just like it wipes Yaks. …
Love it! Lol-ers
I need to start saying that in game “It’s NNK-o’clock time!”
