Glad you enjoyed.
I would say that the build actually got better; in the last balance pass ANet both buffed Power Reaper as well as buffed Deathly Chill in PvE (and therefore WvW), meaning that both axes that the spec functions on got stronger. The build was already quite survivable, and now it simply does even more damage than it used to.
Awesome thats great to hear! I will probably continue to go ahead with my idea!
Also, I am getting back into gw2 and I need a PvE build to get ascended gear/explore/make money etc.
Any you would recommend?
I would recommend using the Corruptions build for the sake of efficiency, because not only does it have the sustain to hard carry you and pugs through most content, but it also allows you to “double-dip” and be able to use the same build in multiple places; it’s both your WvW and PvE build, so you don’t need to spend as much money on multiple sets of gear. In general though either build (plus many others) are quite effective for PvEing as a Necromancer; the class is generally quite forgiving in the open world.
What would you say is better. The Hybrid of Power build? For WvW Roaming and some PvE elements.
Glad you enjoyed.

I’d recommend either of the two builds in the following videos, among others:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUyiyKMKq0s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6AiSAu9JDoIn general solo roaming on Necromancer is hit or miss; we don’t have active mitigation or high mobility, so if you commit to a fight you’re probably not leaving without winning or dying. You just need to go in knowing that and accepting it.
With that said, the class isn’t helpless. Necromancer, especially when built for Condi, has good utility, reasonable sustain, and generally good matchups. The builds I linked above are both good in different ways: The hybrid spec benefits from good sustain through “Your Soul is Mine!” as well as differentiated damage. The Corruptions spec offers great down control, utility, and sustain through Parasitic Contagion. I would say for mid-scale roaming the Corruptions spec is king, but for solo roaming and small group play the Mercenary’s build is sweet.
would you say your hyrbid build is still viable? I was thinking about creating a similar style myself! (btw great vids you got there)
Hello all!
Currently I am about to get back into guild wars 2 and I was wondering what things I would need to do or recommended to get me up to the meta to be viable in WvW/Fractals/PvE as I haven’t done any really an a LONG time.
I have a Necro, Warrior, Thief, and Ele at the moment and I would like to choose 2 to switch upon and keep up to date/master and I have no idea what to pick!
Thanks again!
Hello All!
I recently made the decision to come back to GW2 after a long break (about 1 year) and I was wondering I should do with my characters haha as I have no idea what the current meta and builds are at the moment to go for in order to be viable. Currently I have a Necro, Warrior, Thief, and Ele. Also if you wouldn’t mind including the things I would need to do in order to achieve the gear possible for the build to utilize in WvW if I so wanted to.
Thanks, Everyone!
How long would it take for a character to reach full ascended equipment?
Hey all!
So I don’t have too much time on my hands now a days because I have work, school, taking care of my body etc. and I thought maybe getting back into GW2 could destress me and give me some fun here and there. I has been a while so I was wondering if you guys think playing right now would be a grind to get the right gear/skills to be viable and prepared for end game activities? Pretty much, can it be done and worth by a casual player?
Looks like I will be waiting a couple weeks to play WvW with my buddies then. Thanks for all the feedback!
Does anyone know if AN has plans of increasing world max population sizes? If not I think I’m screwed…
So heres the problem. Everyone that I currently play with are on the world Stormbluff Isle. I am aware of the 1800 gem ludicrous cost of transferring and I’m willing to pay that price but there is a problem. Their world is full and it WONT clear up EVER! I have checked in at 3 and 5 in the morning as well as many other times but every single time I check to transfer, the server is still full. Anet really needs to fix this issue as I’m almost positive many others are experiencing a very similar if not identical situation to me.
