This build is viable in PVE aswell.
its especially effectives against single target and certein Fractal bosses as u can pew pew them from afar and not worry about getting hit by agony based attacks.
smoke screen also negates any projectiles and if u put it in the right spots normal trash mobs will be perma blinded and wont even be able to land a hit on ur party members.
and you can steal boons from bosses/mobs to make them more vulnerable or hit less hard.
for AOE mob clearing use shotbow’s cluster bomb spam.
and for traits just go for the offensive one but swap the first trait in critical strikes to “Furious Retaliartion” for perma fury.
I apologize for the confusion.
the reason i was using different traits in some of the fights is simply because i forgot to switch back from my S/D build traits ^^
you can see that in some fights i had 15k/14k hp (critical Strikes) and in some 16k hp (acrobatics)
you can run 2/0/0/6/6 for a more evasive playstyle with feline grace and power inerta
or 2/6/0/0/6 for a more offensive style with executioner and pistol mastery (+flat 200 ferocity)
wich one is better? i cant really say, thats up to your preference.
the set stats are Valkery armor + Strength runes + Zerker trinkets regardless of traits.
with Fire/Air on the guns and Fire/Battle on the shortbow just as shown in the build page.
i will add the second build to the topic/video to avoid further confusion.
I’m glad to present a viable p/p thief build that can actually compete with all the cheese/condi based builds you would usually encounter in WvW while roaming or dueling.
(among them perplexity based PU mesmers/engineers and necros, shadow rejuvination thiefs, celestial eles/condi rangers, meditation guards and reflect skullcrack warriors)
This build focuses on smart use of combo fields, stolen items, blinds and kyting to outplay your opponents.
Here is a video i upload showing how the build is played out.

- this is not a guide video but a montage, you can however still learn from how i approach and deal with certein classes and builds.

- the only difference is traits

Great video HardOleg!
Just a thought… have you tried this rotation instead?
1. Cast curtain
2. Cast warden
3. Half way through the warden cast, close curtain
4. Leap and continue the rest of your comboThis way, the warden will spawn on top of your opponent whilst he’s knocked down. You then lock him in this position with leap and you end up getting the full spin out of your warden from start to end before you shatter. This is what I usually do but I have a different play style though so up to you
I thought about it, but its not practical because casting “curtain” either makes ur opponents move away from it or even dodge it fearing the pull.
and the warden can only be spawn on top of the opponent so basicly if u spawn the warden after the curtain u can only pull ur opponent away from the warden resulting in 0 dmg.No, no, you’ve got it wrong.
1. Cast Curtain
2. Begin casting Phantasmal Warden
3. While you are casting Phantasmal Warden, hit Into the Void.
4. Player is pulled and on the ground, Phantasmal Warden is summoned simultaneously.EDIT: Made a quick vid to illustrate what FLIMP is describing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uWuloWZ0y0
huh now i see what he meant…
this is actually a pretty good tip
