Seafarer Rest - Impossable to beat!!

I would absolutely hate being confined to NA’s WvW.

I started my GW2 journey on NA’s Anvil Rock, nearly instantly became bored of PvE, and began to do nothing but WvW. I stayed there for some time before moving down the ladder to NA’s Eredon Terrace. I fought for good old ET for around 8 months, putting in around 12 hours a day, always out-manned and out-gunned. Eventually, I, and the rest of my guild burned out completely and decided we wanted to move to greener pastures, where we could explore PvE with renewed focus and not be one of 20 people total in WvW across all 3 maps killing ourselves for camps/Garri.

We moved to EU’s Ruins of Surmia, where we had a blast for around 6 months, it was mid-ladder and everyone was pretty friendly. The meta was a good change of pace from the NA side. Slowly though, it seemed like people were slowly bleeding away from WvW, around the time our interest was fully beginning to return. We had always played the havoc groups, the roamers, the people that ran off to flip camps or intercept enemy roamers. We decided we wanted to explore the other side of WvW, the side that these forums are always talking about for better and for worse. We did our homework on which EU server was the most consistent, we did not want to return to the NA side due to our preference for EU’s meta, we didn’t want to return to ET, nor ever have the possibility of fighting against the motherland. We decided this would be our last move since transferring a guild was rather expensive.

EU’s Seafarer’s Rest won out, a server consistent in all PvP aspects, high population, and high tier; all the ingredients to ensure our WvW experience was as contrasting as black and white. The dreams of actually being in a zerg, having an allied group of more than 15 people around you, and the very best part: No que to wait in. I and all my friends/guild mates, never play in the day, a fact that hurt our enjoyment severely on NA’s side when everybody went to sleep. On EU’s side, we find great fights against people in Germany, UK, Spain, and others, all during what is considered the most dead time for EU.

I don’t know an easy solution to the problem you referenced. Being night-shift in NA though, I would hate to lose access to the only option for action after midnight.

Maybe you could offer cookies to NA night-shift players? Or at least let them know that if they joined your server, your day crew could actually keep and make use of the hours they put in the night before. Nothing can make people transfer like feeling useless where they are now.

I am in the process of restoring my build since I had the great idea of salvaging my armor for some reason. I’m currently using a mixture of power/precision/ferocity and power/toughness/vitality, with a mismatch of mods, i think 2 runes of Dwayna and the rest ruby orbs. I know critical damage has taken a hit when it became ferocity, and i feel I’ve got way to much going on armorwise, but running 6/5/0/0/3 seems to be working well oddly enough. If you plan on using a LB to gun others down from max range, i feel the trait Read the Wind is a must. My arrows never miss unless the target dodges, aa will usually always crit for 2-2.5k, and using the GS as a backup for when things get close, i’m pretty survivable in roaming and larger group fights. As far as condi cleanse goes, i typically will use the healing spring to clear, or if in a bind, time LR so that it is not wasted. I don’t really have a problem with any condi.

I like the look of the build, I used to use a similar one when I was starting in WvW. The skills you chose would fit with both escape and attacking, so a good balance of utility. You can get decent evade/control through your utility skills and bet skills, my concern though would be if you find yourself 1vX, i don’t know if your evades will last. I might suggest a sword in place of the axe, but how does it feel at the moment? Do you like the feel of it and hold your own?

Quirks of the Ranger

Greetings everyone, Warden Fainte here from Eredon Terrace, thought I might start a topic to possibly try and compile neat tricks and quirks of the ranger to help the new rangers as well as improve the old.

Have you noticed anything strange while playing your Ranger?

For example, I don’t know if this is the case with any other class, but the Ranger’s sword skill 1 seems to be able to chain and root onto an invisible thief. If this type of quirk is specific to Rangers alone, perhaps we have a solid counter to stealth in general and can build upon that to create new roaming builds in WvW.

This information could also be used to assist in theory-crafting and builds in general, to produce less cookie-cutter builds and add more diversity in the class itself.

Please feel free to share things you’ve noticed and really effective things you have found out from different situations! I appreciate it and as will all the rangers with me!

Tips from PvE (Open world and dungeon), PvP (S and T), and WvW are all encouraged!

(Disclaimer: This is not a thread to state what the ranger cannot do, and what you wish it could do. I’m sure every veteran ranger has things they would like to see done with the class to change it or allow for more diversity. We may be kitten with many things, but I for one want to know what we have going for us!)

Keep is classy folks! This is not Tier 7! Let big brother handle these things for us! ^^

Also Cross, I do think it is the Trait "Hide in Plain Sight".
Rangers are extremely mobile and can be one of the most evasive classes in the game if played correctly. With a ranger as my main, I’ve much to learn, but I somehow managed to bounce around on a camp last night around 5 GoM until my allies could show up and save me!

On another note: Before I post this on the Ranger thread, have any other rangers noticed the Sword auto-attack will chain on stealthed targets abd hook you into them?

You are wondering why Garrison, Hills, and Bay fell in 5 minutes?
I don’t know anything about a "Speed Hack" or "Full HP Golems" but..
I’ll be more than happy to relate what I think occurred.

If this is the incident that occurred yesterday in ET, then GoM had launched a Breakout of Greenlake-Tower, drawing myself an most of the 15 people we had on the map.(On another note, why in the world are so many leaving the homeland open for a chance at a 35 pt. structure that changes hands so often it must be diseased?) GoM then put 5 at Greenlake, while diverting between 20-35 to Garrison, accompanied by what I think was 5 omega golems. The only scout at Garrison’s cries for help were drowned out by our communication in Greenlake. By the time we knew what was happening, Garrison and hills had fallen and the inner gate of Bay was being wrenched open. I died on the battlements, suffered a massive defeat, but it was a lesson learned.

Eredon Terrace Borderland, is now working much more efficiently as far as communication, support, and training new WvWers goes when I am online. I do hope it is carrying over to when other Commanders are online. We have quite a ways to go still, but we are making headway. I myself, need quite a bit more experience, but I like to think I am making great progress.

There is always room for improvement.

***Shout-out to KWBH who apparently re-upgraded the homeland, many thanks.***

Hello, a question for anyone in this tier, what is the WvW like?
I’m curious about coverage/ commander style/ general WvW engagements.
Are tactics more predominant than zerging, or is here a healthy balance?
Are all 3 servers more or less evenly matched?
With it being a EU tier, which countries boast the most players, and what is the predominant language for each server respectively?

A quick thanks to guilds WZ, RISE, PoPo, BS, and many more for a night with hours of dueling. I had a lot of fun and got a good chance to test my build and determine my weak areas as well as strong. Hope to see you on the battlefield more often!

Edit: By the next dueling time, maybe I’ll be able to dodge those D/D Elementalists and mesmers!

Can’t wait for the battle tonight. I’d like to wish everyone good luck and may there be plenty of fun to be had. See you back on the forums at the end of the week! May there be dignity, corpse-dancing, a JP gank, and all the things we’ve come to love that defines this great tier. But most importantly, let’s all have a good time!

I don’t know how you guys stay on these servers. Not bashing just props and genuine curiosity.

Fighting SF for the past month or two and Kain before that, I’ve come to expect that we may never have the numbers. We may face opposition of 50-60 in all BL. Does that mean we will back down? Does that mean we will simply wait and watch everything be taken? Not a chance, not a chance at all my friends. What this means is that we just pack extra arrows and spare swords. We are Eredon Terrace.
