There are a few very, very, large files that seem to take forever to download.

Can i pause and resume the download of the big files later cause i can’t download them in one run ?

You can pause the entire download and keep your place but you can’t skip individual files. They announced that in the future that the game updater will stream content so you can start playing faster but currently you need the whole game to play.

Now you can download on any PC, if you are allowed too, and simply copy the game’s directory to a LARGE USB stick and take that home and copy it to your PC. The game can be installed on as many machines as you want, it’s just you can only play on one at a time. You paid for the account, not a copy of the game.

I meant if there is one file that is 1GB can i download 600MBs of it than pause the download and finish downloading that file later ?

i have a bad internet connection (70KB/s) and i can’t change it until October so it’s going take about 2 weeks to finish downloading

I wouldn’t worry about what the Windows folder size is telling you. Windows explorer does some funky things while a file is opened (being downloaded to).

If you look in the actual Guild Wars 2 folder, do you see the GW2.DAT file?

Yes i can see it and it’s only 680MBs and have downloaded about 4GBs

Keep in mind that the bar is NOT showing you percentage of total you needed to download, but only the total remaining. If downloaded half and got stopped , when you start it again the bar will be empty again, but you will only download the remaining files.

There is likely nothing wrong, but the GW2.DAT file is nearing 21GB in size now, so you have quite a ways to go still…..don’t get discouraged and welcome to the game!

i know that the bar is not showing the percentage of total download my only problem is that the game folder is not getting bigger although i can see the Launcher downloading :\

I have have downloaded about 4GBs of the game files and i can see that the files remaining are getting lower also i have stopped the download few times but when i see the size of the game folder i found it only 741MBs and i don’t know if there is anything wrong with my Launcher

The game makes a huge data file that it draws from for local access. So that file is probably open/locked while the download is happening and not included in the folder size if you query it.

I am downloading the game right now and the launcher says that about 1.24GBs has been downloaded but the game folder size is only about 534MBs,the launcher looks like it’s downloading but the folder looks small and i don’t know if it’s normal ???

Sometimes not all things downloaded show up as they might not be on your PC, I don’t know if this is the case with guild wars 2. For the most part the .bat file I believe is where the patch is.
I don’t know when but eventually they will add a method to play while Downloading, similar to TERA Online.

when you close your launcher it will start when you start it again from what it had left to download before you closed it

Even when it’s not showing in the folder ?

I have a slow internet speed so i can’t download the game in a single day,anyway i left the the launcher downloading and came back later and i have found that 760Mps has been downloaded but when i open the folder i found it 388Mps only so if i close the launcher i am going lose most of what i had downloaded although i haven’t closed the launcher since starting the download.

so i can continue doing story quests and explore the existing places and play the existing dungeons and world bosses or not

i have bought the game yesterday and i am really having fun but i am not going to buy Heart of Thorns expansion (for now) so i just wanted to know if it is going to effect my game experience and me having fun ?
