I’m pretty sure if necros were given something similar to Warriors endure pain, Engs elixir S, Rangers sigent of stone, Guardians elite, Eles obsidian skin, or mesmers invul would mostly likely see a surge like we did when Guardians were buffed. Outside of a immunity like ability Necros/Reapers are extremely powerful. I personally wouldn’t mind giving one to necros/reapers just to see what happens because it is undeniable atm that they’re targeted first and I feel its because of no immunity skill and poor mobility.
If you look at the likes of a GS reaper in pvp giving them the mobility of a thief still would not make them a good build for pvp, other professions just have more at their disposal compared to us and in my oppinion less drawbacks.
When you can remove one of the biggest drawbacks to a profession, give it the complete opposite where it is the best in the game and still feel like the build is extremely weak in context of other professions its safe to say its weak.
Things like corruptionmancer and the likes are pretty ok in most departments and just need few tweaks here and there.
well,i picked necro as it seems also a safe profession…2 healthbars, loads of minions, all the condi tricks (especially consuming em to get better heal, plague signet thingy…)
on paper we look fantastic, unfortunatey its that second health bar which prevents us from getting such much more need survivability abilities or traits compared to other professions
Warriors are regarded as a great starter profession, tanky and straight forward abilities. Don’t be put off by it being an easy to get into profession it is an excellent one which has many diverse builds and fun to play. So you could stick with your warrior
ultimately you can pick whatever you like the best theme wise and their viability depends more on what you want to do, mesmer thief and elementalist are regarded as a bit more complex to learn which could maybe overwhelm as you’re still trying to learn about the game.
When i got into gw2 i knew necro had a history of being one of the weakest but right now we are the laughing stock of pvp forums, people jokingly asking for necros to be auto targetted so we can die faster or just save time and spawn dead. Not the best reading.
Pve is much the same, the occasional “1 necro is still good for couple fights” but rest just talk about why ever take a necro. We need a massive boost in damage to be justified a spot.
A random gw2 video popped up on my youtube recommendations about greatsword reapers, i really enjoyed what i saw and having recently quit wow i decided to give gw2 another go, got to 80 did a bunch of stuff in hot and now i feel like the entire thing was a waste of time.
Outside of solo pve content (which is trivial no matter what profession you are) just cannot enjoy necro at all, PVP wise if you want the class to have low mobility you need to give them pretty good survivability, reapers shroud is not enough. Its just such a pathetic spec, low mobility, average dps (when you can actually hit someone) if you cant hit people you do 0 dps, no survivability, low heals, it all seems to boil down to the reapers shroud.
I genuinely feel that even if you gave gs reapers the mobility of a thief they would still be a completely pointless spec and that is pretty sad.
Pve wise it looks good on paper but what is the point of playing necro when you could play an elementalist and do near double the dps? also at the end of the day the rotation is god awful boring, spam your mainhand auto attack whatever weapon you’re using be it scepter dagger etc to build lifeforce then spam gs gravedigger all day sub 50% is not compelling gameplay at all.
Gs reaper got me into gw2 and quite possibly will leave me uninterested in gw2 just as quick.
yeah, greatsword is fun, but faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from practical. save for encounters of the stupid kind.
Its a real shame, it needs a complete rework, the whole slow moving heavy hitter just does not work in practice especially when you arent even hitting that big compared to other professions.
I live in hope that one day i can raid and pvp with a greatsword but in the meantine i am leveling other professions for pve and will occasionally play the corruption mancer which actually gives necro a bit of pressence in pvp.
