I bought the game full price, well my hubby bought it for me… to me this whole going f2p junk is bull, it’s basically a slap in my face. I think those who paid full price should get some sort of compensation, and those who disagree are probably those who’ve joined free. The economy is probably wrecked now.

I’m a veteran (not 3 years ago but close) and I have no problem whatsoever in gw2 becoming f2p. I mean it doesn’t change anything for me. I can understand the frustration of people who bought gw2 not so long ago and didn’t want to buy HoT. But for the others (I think the majority), it doesn’t change anything at all. You’ll still have to buy the expansion no matter how you jumped into the game, by paying or just downloading it for free.

Now regarding the community, we didn’t have to wait the f2p players to get toxic. Also, a lot of new players are just like me and you : people who want to have fun. The only difference is that they don’t have to pay to try the game and that’s GREAT. Just like O’Brien said, Anet is confident that new players will fall in love with the game and buy the expansion and I agree. Gw2 is an amazing and original MMO that deserves to be at least tried. The more new people try the game, the more constent players we’ll have. And in Gw2, more players mean more fun. So that’s a win-win situation honestly.

Regarding the economy, it is in fact an interesting decision. The gem store remains as it is now. New players gathering large amounts of Gold is going to be balanced by the Gold sunk into the new items HoT will provide. And for the price of the core game, it should be “re-earned” by the sales of HoT. Because indeed new players wont pay right now, but they will when they’ll eventually buy HoT or buy gems. So it is a rather good decision, at least in my opinion.

Also, ArenaNet made it clear now : everytime an expansion is available, the previous content becomes FREE. You won’t have to pay the core game + every previous expansion to be able to play. It is a great deal for newcomers and a great choice for the game in general. As for the veteran , it is how markets work. You buy something at launch and over time, its value decreases but you gained the amount of time you played the game. Sometimes I feel like people forget that buying games isn’t a “real” investment as you can’t profit by selling it later. It is something you buy to have fun, nothing more nothing less.

So the main question is : Did you have fun? If yes, then you have nothing to regret. If no, then quit the game and don’t buy HoT or wait till it comes out and see if you’re willing to make the same bet. Really it is as simple as that.

Also, the free outfit is a cool enough Thank you from Anet for us Veteran and we should be thankfull aswell for a game we spent more than a thousand hours playing and awesome people we met by doing so.

I bought the core game at full price and I don’t regret it at all. These last 2,5 years were great and I had a lot of fun, met awesome people that I may have not met if I waited for the game to be free.

This seems to be the argument they all use, its not a valid argument. Being satisfied with the product I originally purchased does not mean I have to be satisfied with all future changes or leave. As a customer I have the right to complain about my treatment by said company to the company. What they do with that complaint is up to them, but if I hear one more high school student ask me “Did you get 60 dollars worth of play out of it?” I am going to flip my kitten. That shows an ignorant, ridiculous, naive take on the real world…

This. I guess I’m just supposed to bendover and take what they give me, no thanks… I paid full so I do expect something in return.

We should get a FULL refund, or the expansion free… at this point I’d personally rather have a refund… Wonder if they could be sued??

I invested all right — cash, and this is how I am repaid… well technically I’m not being repaid, I’m just being slapped in the face.

I truly believe they sold the game full price knowing that they would turn around and give it at a later date for free, it was a money making scheme… Me being a p2p person who paid in full I feel pity for the others who paid.

Please make Guild wars 1 - Free to play....

Anyone else ONLY play humans?

I only play humans usually in mmo’s, sometimes I will play an elf when I can though… but as for GW2 I only play humans.

Why do you play female characters as a guy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

HelloKittyZOMG.1875

All of my character on GW2 are human, and all are girls but then again I’m a girl.
Not to be rude, but I too wonder why men prefer to use female characters over male characters.
I for one find it odd to even think of playing a male character, I don’t know why but it just urks me a tad. :P

I use a Razer Orbweaver keypad, any thoughts?

I just use a portable keyboard and mouse by microsoft, I mainly use them because I use my 55 inch tv screen as my monitor so I sit back in my recliner to play.
I honestly think whatever that is looks weird, but then again I have never seen one in person nor have I ever tried one.
I guess the issue is, I wouldn’t know if I could utilize one the same way I can my mouse and keyboard.
I am very efficient with the setup I have now, typing, and well gaming comes naturally I can do both extremely fast with rarely any slip ups.
I always heard if it’s not broke don’t fix it. :P

Oh may I add I also have a Sims 4 mouse, headset, and the little plumbob light up thingy as I’m a big Sims fan. :P
Christmas before last I did buy a gaming mouse and keyboard for my brother that lit up green, it looked neat but again I am more into speed and performance over looks.

If you won a million dollars

I hate to say this, but I would not spend a million dollars on the GW2 store. Truth is I would donate some of the money to pay off my local church. I would use the rest to buy toys and food for kids that are in need. I would probably buy a trailer to pull up beside our house for our daughter one day. Maybe even buy another vehicle, probably a van. Anything leftover would be saved up for my child(s) future.

I don’t see what all the hub bub is about, if the person wants mounts that’s their right. I wouldn’t mind seeing mounts either.
Don’t let it get you down, nor let what others say deter you or sway you on the matter.

As for someone suggesting you to uninstall a game over all this, my opinion is keep the game, it’s a fun game and it’s worth playing.
I must say WoW is also a fun game, BUT that being said in my opinion GW2 is better.
I do think they should go with mounts for many reason, not just for looks, but mounts are a lot quicker then having to walk everywhere.

I am not one to troll, so I will just state my opinion on the matter… I think mounts would be an awesome idea.
One thing I enjoy about WoW, among other similar games is the utilization of mounts hey even Sacred had mounts.
What’s odd though is I never thought of it before, could it work though for GW2? It is a great idea, but the mechanics, it’s definitely something to look into.

I don’t see how it’s not friendly to those who’ve played longer, but maybe I am just different.
I will say this, I am glad the game is easy for new people to pick up and play.
I never did like games that was hard or confusing for new players.

If you have tried the map completion, and making all characters and classes, then you can also try the expansion that is coming out soon.

Good luck and I hope this expansion really peaks your interest.

Is the grass greener with that other class?

HelloKittyZOMG.1875

I think Rangers are one of the better classes, BUT that being said they can’t take a whole lot of dmg as they are meant to stay back.
So basically if you aren’t the best at dodging or doing plenty of rolls you may find it challenging at first.
Then again Rangers if built well can be a beast and kill quick without even worrying about getting hit.

Is gw1 still worth buying?

HelloKittyZOMG.1875

Is it worth buying? In my opinion for me probably not, but then again I only played it at my brothers but for some reason I couldn’t get into it.
Everyone is different though, you may get it and absolutely fall in love with it.

I took a leap of faith and bought GW2 and imo it’s a lot better than GW1 but that is just my opinion on the matter.
GW2 is one of the better mmo games out there that I have tried, the world is ever expanding, and the personal story line is one of a kind awesome.

But I saw where you said you can’t find an mmo to get into, for me I do like WoW but the 15 bucks a month is a little much. So I only play WoW every so often, I make sure to sub only when I am sure I am ready to play again.
I have also tried playing Star Wars The Old Republic I like it, but the controls and map are uber clunky and the sub again like WoW is too much. I have never subbed nor will I ever to be quite honest I don’t enjoy playing it because of the clunkiness alone.
I also play Diablo III, but it’s more of an rpg hack and slash game that can get boring over time.

Right now I must say I am big into MOBA styled games, I never thought I would be though which is odd. Ever heard of League of Legends, Dota 2, or Smite?

How strong are Rangers?

On any and all mmorpgs I always play a ranger, even on GW2.
I have a ranger that I play on GW2, she’s awesome imo.
I like casters too but for some reason I cannot put my ranger down.

I guess it depends on armor, stats, all that but in the beginning levels they are weak defense wise, but pretty good offense wise. Higher up it gets better in the defense as well.
I notice that my ranger which is currently level 35 kill pretty fast, it’s good because she can stay back and shoot tons of arrows for a pretty good aoe.

I would recommend you to try a ranger and see if you like it, ranger is most definitely my favorite hands down.
