Do you really want a static game?

Me, my friend and my girlfriend bought the game about a month ago. We have all enjoyed it, both the PvE and WvW aspects. It’s fun, and feels just like I want an MMO to feel, maybe a bit antisocial, but still social enough if you find the right people.

Now, I get a whole different impression from playing the game and reading the forums. Everywhere ingame, I meet people that like the game and find it fun to play, i discuss stuff with them, play with them and have a good time. That’s why I don’t understand why people on the forums are whining just because they are introducing a new tier of items.

This is a young game, of COURSE it is going to change. And that’s how i want it. I want a game that, even if i decide to quit, I can come back to and see that the world has changed and has more to offer. The last MMO where I felt like that was Ragnarok Online, a game that I quit and then took up again at least six times over the years, and every time I returned I saw that the game had evolved and developed, with new areas to explore and a different meta-game. I hear that it is ruined now, but that was because of new owners.

From what I read, it seems as if you guys have played this game for a while, crafted your legendary and now you’re on top. And you want it to stay that way. You don’t want the game to change, you don’t want them to try out new approaches, you don’t want other people to become better than you. You complain that you can’t farm, you complain that you can’t do older dungeons anymore, you complain that some people got good weapons, etc etc.

I just have one thing to say: Get over it. If you want a world that doesn’t change, why don’t you play on a Vanilla WoW server, or some other private server that’s static and pure. This game has no monthly cost, they need to add new content and change the game every now and then both to attract new customers and get old costumers to come back. Really, you guys are just complaining that you actually have to PLAY THE GAME now, instead of just sitting there with your legendaries doing nothing.

There are a lot of reasons to critisize the developers, but kittening over ascended gear and the new dungeons is just pathetic and anti-fun. Come back in half a year when we’ve seen the effects that these changes have brought, as well as giving the developers opportunity to fix whatever is wrong, but please stop complaining about hypothetical scenarios all the time. Quit if you want to, I don’t blame you for quitting, but please cut down on the “durr i’m desapointed goodbye gw2” threads.

No ascended stuff has Knight's stats.

They haven’t added all ascended items yet.

What about older content?

You do realize that a lot of other guys complain about this, right?

Now, bear with me, this is just an idea: How about you guys run older dungeons together? If it’s such a big problem, then i’m sure that there will be a lot of people having this problem, and therefor it would be self-regulating because these people can just gang up and form a party.

Seriously, there will always be an influx of new players in this game. Sure, lvl 80 characters might not want to run certain dungeons all the time as they did before, but then you’ll just have to settle with running AC with a lvl 50.

Thanks, I had a blast during the event.

I enjoyed the event, but they handled it pretty shoddily. I also like the fact that it was a one time event, because come on, let’s face it, it would lose it’s impact if you could just redo it all the time. I do think that they should have made it so that European, Oceanic and American servers had the event on seperate occasions though, I don’t think it would make it have less of an impact. I feel sorry for the poor australians

All in all, the event was worth it. I’d love to see more of the same, but without all the lags and the bugs with logging in and stuff. Good job Anet, i’m sure you’ll give us a great event next time!

Some questions... armor and end-game.

There’s a lot of cool armor and weapon skins even at low levels, you’ll find most of them by talking to Heart Merchants after you do their events.

Lost Shores heads up....

If they make the event redoable and recurring then it would lose it’s point. It’s just a game, but having a big chunk of the current playerbase being able to think “Yeah, I was there, defending Lion’s Arc” is surely worth more than the whole playerbase being able to think “I finished an event that didn’t really matter anyway because it just happened again an hour later”.

Seriously, I’ll be watching Animal Collective so I won’t be here for friday, but you can’t get everything in life. We still get all the cool new content so what’s the deal? Anet had two choices, either make something really awesome for some of us or mildly amusing for all of us. I know what i would choose.

The very fact that people will only be able to do this once is what makes it so cool, and if you strip that feeling away from the event then what’s the point of having the event at all? I’d understand your kittening if the event was the only update this month, but we get a whole new map, dungeon and gear costing us no more extra than we have already payed, as well as the chance to invite our friends to play with.

Keep up the good work, developers. Some of us appreciate what you do.

Kryta now has 180 areas, not 175

Maybe it’s just me being slow, but I googled it and noticed that Kryta used to have 175 areas. I noticed this when i was trying to find the last five areas. Am I missing something? Does Claw Island count, because I haven’t been there.

Or is this a hint, maybe towards the new November Event that was recently announced? In either case, if it is just me being slow, then could someone please tell me where the last areas are located?
