We’ll be looking at the prices for the paids. We’re also looking at how easy it is to get tickets and the rate at which players acquire them. We want to find a good balance and we’re listening to the playerbase.

I think you are missing the point of everything that’s have been posted here before.
Players that play (or try) paid tournaments on a daily basis don’t want the price reduced on tournaments a whole lot. Yes, queues are a pain in the _ _ _ but face-rolling anyone that gets inside because they decided to go in a freaking pug just for the sake of playing isn’t fun at all. That’s the main reason many players like myself, have almost quitted this far out. Free tournaments are trash, not fun, not competitive, not rewarding.
A semi organized team, not even a full roster, will faceroll anyone in free tournamets for a trash reward. 1 mediocre chest, with completly random loot, that crafts into a buggy and exploitable mystic forge.
Let me try getting my thoughts organized…
Paid tournaments where the solution to:
A) Trash/Non-existent competitive gameplay.
B) Reward / Acomplishment to high end guilds / groups other than… better games.
C) People crying about getting demolished by teams in free.
D) An additional option to constant glory farm in 8’s.
The problems that came with it where…
A is still kittened up since there are not enough teams 20 hours a day. This could be fixed making cross region servers.
B Still unrewarding. Giving chests and equal loot. Paid tournaments yield random and horrible sets way too easy to complete. The fact that we get that horrible guild armor that looks completely unfinished is also demoralizing. Its more annoying than if you had the chance for it to FAIL to craft gear. We get a new currency that is completely useless right now and probably will be for the next 2 months at LEAST. Make gear look better, fix clipping, increase the cost for crafting the gear and dont make it completely random. I wont freaking mind putting 5 slivers if Im guaranteed to get the set I want instead of 5 guild “X”.
C since queues are mind numbing long, and there’s no SOUND REMINDER for the QUEUE POPPING ,free are the only option. People troll out of frustration, take random builds / teams, and again… Teams vs Pugs are not fun… not for teams, not for the other guys getting 500 – 0’ed.
Fix matchmaking, add individual / team player rankings. Split free’s maybe? (rank 0~15) (rank 15+)?
D Random 8’s teach nothing. Point defense is unrewarding and discouraged. Zergs are encouraged. Randome autobalance switching teams 1 min before game ending.
GET RID OF SKIRMISHER POINTS FOR GOD SAKE. WHY WOULD YOU REWARD PLAYERS FOR FIGHTING OUTSIDE POINTS FOR NO REASON.

well, I kinda agree, im still waiting for ladders… paid without ladders dont thrill players into tourneys
game balance is fine… just fix the paid queues
This topic has already been brought up in plenty of threads, but I’m still waiting to hear an answer from arena net.
Since the introduction of ptPvP everything is starting to fall apart for organized teams. There’s just no reason for us (or any other team) to do free tourneys since its completely one-sided. You just hop in there and wreck every single pug/new team even if you don’t try to win at all. Not even fun at all.
Queues have been longer and longer as the time passes by. YOU WONT FIND A SINGLE PAID TOURNAMENT GAME until 5~6pm (gmt-7) and even then, it will be only one tournament at a time ( 8 teams, with maybe 3 more waiting for the next one to pop). There’s just no reason to grind 8’s or hop into free tourneys, same rewards, same kitteny competition, over and over again.
At least when we didn’t have paid, the illusion of SOON we will have paid tournaments, kept you motivated to keep on playing.
Is arena.net already looking frwd to fix this? What can we expect in the near future?
@Siric, dont mean to troll or anything, but I can effectively reproduce the bug 99% of the times… I’m the only guardian out there that doesn’t take mace [AIM]
I will only take it to paid tourneys vs moist and his glitching team tbh, just to show them how frustrating it is. Since 1 glitching guardian is not enough on their team, they take 2 and pull it out blatantly, rotation after rotation. YOU CAN USE THE MACE but dont come with that crap of “I DONT KNOW HOW TO PULL IT OUT”. Take the mace if you want, use the 3rd skill BUT let it proc before switching weapons or interrupting the skill.
Its just heartbreaking to see such a high level of competition in paid tournaments and top teams abusing it like nothing.

Yup. Give us the option to pick an european mist at least… or make tourney queues global…………….. free tourneys are too easy

Any pvp team game is a combination of individual player skill, individual builds (in any form, fps got weapon sets, rts has build orders, etc) synergy between players/classes, and overall metagame / team strategy. Some builds are just worth more than others just because people dont usually like thinking outside the box and testing the limits of other builds other than their own.
The fact that the game provides you the chance to be whatever you would LIKE to be doesent mean you are gonna faceroll every other class out there just because you are a better player. Then again, if it always came down to that, it would be emphasising the solo aspect of a game, when clearly, the game is beeing designed for a 5v5.
Same speech about “Tanks are worthless, dps needs a ruthless nerf” would be made if they happen to release a deathmatch mode. You dont need to go tanky if your team knows how to rotate. You dont need to fight the bunker at their point. You dont need to solo engage a player, and you dont need to stomp everyone every time you can, yet 99.99% of the players do it and dont even know why.
Im tired of people crying how long it takes them to kill a freaking bunker guardian on a point 1 on 1. WHY ARE YOU EVEN WASTING TIME TRYING TO TAKE OVER A POINT 1v1 THATS ALREADY BEEN TAKEN. Best case scenario, you kill the guy in 30s, you neutralize a point just before the roamer goes to finish your kitten off, and you made your team lose a player and 25sh (between point holding and getting stomped). Regouping or waiting 10s for your friend to respwan is WAYYY too much for some people. Even though, hitting a point defender 2v1 with enough cc will shut him down completely in matter of seconds and will prove to be much more effective than crying.
If you would like mirror matches, go play something else that fits your needs.
Threads like… “guardians are op, they can hold a point 2v1”, “Thiefs do too much damage”, “Mesmers moa / portal is broken”, “Warriors are up and 100’s b do too much damage”, “necros are all about f1 and spaming”, “eles are unkillable,neeeerff staaahhp”, “engis bb’s are too strong”, “rangers asp is too strong, pets still follow me” are getting freaking old.
