GoM has slightly outnumbered the other servers in our matches lately, but by nowhere near the margin that the zerg guilds have provided to Kaineng.
Exactly. In fact, our first match with HoD and SF was really quite even and fun. And even when were dominating last week, our lead was nowhere near as extreme as what we’re seeing now. And note the word fun: the even matches have been by far the most enjoyable. Vastly uneven matches are not enjoyable for anybody.
But until free transfers are turned off and some sort of mechanic is added (i.e. a WvW lockout after transfer) to prevent this sort of debacle, we can expect to experience feast or famine in WvW. I.E., somewhat dominate one week, then get crushed the next. Unless you transfer around to find good matches every week, which is asinine.
Neither did I. All our fair weather friends have come out to play, it seems.
Well…

The rankings and your placement up there show that it might be a while before your server meets another with similar… issues.
So Pro left? That’s disappointing, but not surprising.
I’m not leaving GoM anytime soon, but I can’t promise I’ll be here forever. However, I am only 1 person from a PvX guild with folks who aren’t spending too much time in WvW because of the imbalance issues. We are technically part of an alliance of two guilds, but our other PvP-centric half left weeks ago for greener pastures. My guild leader made the decision to stay on GoM because he didn’t want to lose our accumulated influence. So I’m not sure what the future holds, but we may transfer off if and when they allow guilds to move with all earned influence and perks.
And it’s not because I personally want to leave GoM, but I’ll go where my guild goes, simple as that. And I think it sucks. I think transferring is an incredibly short-sighted solution to a huge problem, and the guilds who hop around are just adding to the frustration of the people who are trying to stick it out. However, I can also see it from the WvW guild’s perspective, too. If they aren’t having fun, and their members are quitting the game, they are kind of forced into the position of leaving. And that sucks, as well.
As for those former or current GoM members who place the blame squarely on the shoulders of GoM’s players for our miserable showing the last two weeks, I absolutely and vehemently disagree with their assessment. ArenaNet is the the primary architect of these failures, like it or not, and we’re nearly powerless to stop anything that’s happening. Sure, we can have fun as the losers, but it’s not going to be amazingly awesome. Until they revamp WvW, which they say they are working on, a lot of servers like GoM will be rebuilding their communities from scratch due to the massive amounts of people who left.
And I think many of those servers like GoM can and will rise from the ashes. But it’s going to be a while. And probably not until ArenaNet fixes the WvW flaws that started this whole mess to begin with. We’ll see then how many people are left, and whether or not server merges are a good idea.
No, GoM wasn’t perfect when we had a decent amount of WvW guilds, but you can’t tell me that any other server with similar problems is ANY different.
TL;DR: also sick of reading about the f’ing orb hacker. I refuse to apologize for the behavior of one idiot who has probably transferred to 10 different servers by now. Our “reputation” as the hacker server was complete bullkitten. So stupid.

Ooooh, this problem was extra nasty in my super duper new ultra squishy armor/rune setup (yes, I am an ele.) When I could see people, fine, I was murdering them, but it was tough to get away. I felt like I was surrounded by an entire army of thieves, which is absolutely my worst nightmare. Perhaps stick to my trusty old Valkyrie/Knights mix while this issue persists.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

Yeah, it was pretty crappy tonight in SM after the patch. Invisible invaders everywhere! Makes it very hard to defend the place.
It was odd, though. Usually I only see this in SM when we’ve got invaders inside, or in an area with a very large zerg, but tonight I was in Lion’s Arch and also noticed the player culling, only there weren’t very many people there. Strange.
GoM has been coordinating well in EB and in the Borderlands. It warms my frozen heart.
This is just such utter bullkitten from any perspective. As a GoM’er, I’m embarrassed for our server, and it doesn’t seem to be helping us too much if you look at our score. Utterly pointless. It just burns me up because we’re already having trouble organizing as a server, and now we have THIS crap to deal with. Getting labeled as a “cheater” server is the last thing we need.
But I must say it isn’t just a few bad apples on GoM performing this hack; we’re getting the blame for an exploit that’s being used by multiple servers. I’ve seen this done countless times by other servers while in the Borderlands. It’s a problem across the board.
There are many exploits being used in WvW but this one is probably the most heinous. If I could murder folks from my server, Sanctified Wrath would be first on my kill list, for sure, but that wouldn’t solve the problem. ArenaNet is ultimately responsible for the prevention of these game-breaking hacks. Let’s hope they up the ante and get this solved quickly.
The Grub people got it goin’ on, obviously. I should have been there to help them lose Stonemist AND get a really cool item worth 30 copper. That’s the recipe for awesome right there, folks.
Ugh, the friggin’ grub again? I give up.
Lets just say we went from owning Stonemist to losing everything we had in the map up until the point where the only thing standing between us having nothing in EB was a single gate repelled by the remaining defenders.
They were attacking this grub while we still had Stonemist up until the point where we lost Quentin, Durios and Brovost and lost the outer gates of our primary keep.
I have never felt so embarrassed for my world..
Yeah. I’m glad I wasn’t there to witness it. I am starting to feel like these Grub morons are purposefully sabotaging us. I mean, they have to be, right? Right?!
We don’t have the population to be able to afford PvE’ers in the WvW map. We just don’t.
Right now, we’re sitting at a “high” population, while Yak’s and Blackgate are full. Do the math!
The Grub is our sorrow and our shame.

This happens to me only when I’m trying to take Stonemist after server reset. Or when defending. It’s crazy crowded in there, yes, with 3 servers converging, but it makes it impossible for a less powerful server to take Stonemist when a bunch of us are fighting invisible enemies left and right. Half the time I think this is what wipes our pushes to take the keep. Sometimes I’m surprised I’ve managed to stay alive as long as I have during these Stonemist pushes.
And like others have said, it’s not my computer.
If there can be some kind of option to render these players at incredibly low textures, or just geometric shapes, when there are too many people, I’m totally fine with that, because at least it means I’ll be able to do something – anything – when I run into a mire of invisible players in Stonemist.
I’ve been trying to order gems since earlier this week without success. Incident #120922-000914 – card approval failed or Error! {"type": “orderModel:error”}
