We were on Mordremoth and one of our party members got lifted out of the instance when they hit an updraft. the party member was unable to re-enter the instance to join us – they were still in our party but unable to come in.

The upshot was that we were unable to finish Migraine with only 4 party members.

The other 4 party members were:
Alcano.9182
Chap.6439
JGrave.6748
TitanTyrant.6493

Alcano.9182 was the party member tossed out of the instance via the updraft.

In both attempts, at least two people were running all over the area. I wasn’t sure if the barrage mechanic had been changed. It feels long when there’s no one left up except you and maybe one other player.

Has a change been made to the artillery barrage phases on tier 1 of this fractal so (1) they last longer and (2) the barrage covers most of the floor so there are no safe spaces to stand? I have been experiencing multiple times where it is not possible for me to double-dodge away to a safe spot.

I have not been entering anything higher than tier 1 for this fractal, so I do not know if this appears to be occurring at higher versions too.

It seems too hard for a tier 1, fractal 18 would be the most difficult tier 1 fractal to do.

Edited to say seems too hard for a tier 1, had originally typed tier 2 (typo!).

Massive Lag

Also in pvp, getting 2500 ms lag. Skills flashing but not activating, cannot move, etc. Image taken just after queuing for pvp again, got out of queue and ping reduced back down to around 220.

I’m not playing pvp if this is going to happen.

Completely unstable in wvw today, after reset and then 2.5 hours after reset. Client crashed both times, have sent automated report in. For the first crash, that was on my home BL with a queue, second crash was on a non-queued BL (at least for my team).

Loading screens – LA and also loading into BL for first time and then when trying to rez after death at a WP are extremely long. LA is taking longer than 30 seconds. I have not timed the BL waits.

Cannot use my headphones properly with the client, even though they worked fine on the Win 10 client, as even when selected in game, I get no game sound through them. Teamspeak working fine, so it is some type of GW2 client/sound output incompatibility.

Also had major fps problem in pvp ranked match I just played, felt like 10 fps the entire game, including when running from spawn at the start of the match. I can see the screen jerk noticeably. I was hoping that using a newish iMac would solve this fps problem for me, instead it has made it worse. Back to Win 10 and 10-12 fps in wvw blob fights for me.

People use lfg or just hop in and out a few times to find a better map normally that isn’t closing because the map it switches you to is almost always dead and sometimes 5 minutes later will tell you to switch again.

Yes, previously I have experienced about 4 map changes in a hour on the same HoT map – it was VB from memory and none of the maps were particularly advanced on the preparation events.

I had encountered this before the change to remove multimap in Auric Basin. The situation is, you’ve started on a meta event (e.g. you’ve gone some way towards developing one of the outposts in VB, finishing the Tarir event) and then the message pops up about not many players on your current map so do you want to change to another version of the map (and get a bonus).

Without fail, every time this has happened to me when I have been working towards completing a meta event, I have been placed in a map with few players and with the meta events much less progressed – if at all.

I have no idea how the criteria for picking which maps will close and which will be the receiving maps. However, perhaps the map with more progression towards the meta should be the one kept open.

Latest example: in Auric Basin, attacking octovine. Option flashes up. I agree, and then find myself in an Auric Basin instance where the gates into Tarir are still blocked – i.e. a much less advanced meta event that is likely to fail.

In future, I’m going to refuse to change maps. But why is the directionality moving players from a partially completed meta to a zero completed meta, when one would expect the opposite to occur?

I agree that this is frustrating content. I’m not in the US and I typically have average ping of more than 200ms. Half the time the game doesn’t register I have activated my glider. Content like this should be easier to achieve – e.g. the jumps should be a bit more forgiving.

Hi there,

Could you please add some more cat/kitten minis into the game. For example, you could use breeds such as Ragdoll and Siamese for the different types of minis.

This could also lead to a new achievement/title “Crazy Cat Lady”, for example for having 50 cat minis of any type.

League grouping method suggestion

I’m not sure how exactly the season 1 groupings were created, and I was wondering if my suggestions below had been considered on how to statistically approach the question.

I had initially thought that a time series forecast approach based on server scores might be good when doing inter-server comparisons, but I don’t think it would let you bring in covariates (e.g. counts of people playing WvW, maybe averaged somehow e.g. rolling 12-hour) in sufficient detail to make this approach work well.

How about a linear mixed effect model, where you can assign both fixed and random effects, which uses a repeated measures design to approach the problem? This is a type of regression, where you could have (for example) overall season 1 score as the dependent variable and as many covariates as is sensible. Because it’s a repeated measures design, you could include covariates like points per period (e.g. 24 hours), interquartile range of player counts for the period, server population without having the issue of dependence between observations cropping up. You could use the studentised residuals to identify:
- the servers that achieved below expectation
- the servers that achieved at expectation
- the servers that over expectation
for points and use that information in helping to form the groupings for season 2. The other advantage of this type of model is that it is easily explainable with respect to the effects of the covariates/factors.

Yes I was serious, because no-one else in my guild has experienced such an extreme effect and a number have already completed the meta-achievement, with others part-way through. That is where I received the advice to try to reduce the anti-aliasing quality, because they felt the effect was overdone on my screen.

Hi there,

It has only happened since the patch in the last 24 hours. Now I get random purple\black full screen effects that occur temporarily – maybe 15 seconds at a time. I can somewhat see the names of players and NPCs through this effect. I am running an AMD graphics card and have had no issues playing GW2 up to this point. Turning down anti-aliasing ingame from High to Medium has not fixed the issue. Is there an issue with the last patch?

Hi there,

I had been playing with my partner in our guild of 2 since last year (so we could get more bank slots). I would like to be involved in a guild that runs dungeons and WvW. I came from a WoW background where I was quite heavily involved in battlegrounds, instances, and raids.

I have around 8 characters, each is a different profession, with two at 80. I’m also keen on getting my crafting up, I have all craft professions at various levels – I think 3 are > 300.

I enjoy playing with others, and play during Oceania hours. I can play American hours, although that would be more limited to the American Friday nights and Saturday afternoon/evenings.

I’ve used vent in the past, and would be willing to contribute to the costs of that type of infrastructure.
