Though, you could pay $10 for the sickle, you could also just exchange gold (I’ve done this for many, many items). Still, animation isn’t too bad, strange that it’s a mining pick animation, but the vines and spring deal isn’t horrible. I still think they need to increase the size of the effect so you could actually see it, as they are completely covered by most nodes. Simplest way to cancel the animation is move after you gather your resource.
The animation isn’t all that bad. They need to, at the very least, double the size of the ground effect and add a water animation to the sickle, but it IS unlimited uses. Still, I was a bit disappointed when I first used it, I was expecting something more.
Group events wouldn’t be so bad if they were worth it. They’re not all broken, but many are far too difficult for the lack of award, the troll you are referring to is a good example. I don’t agree with their removal. Scaling and a reward tweak would be enough.
False positives happen in any bot fighting system. If you act like a bot you might just get mistaken for one. It is usually possible to get unbanned, was this not the case? As for the name? Soviet in and of itself should not be a cause for a name change. Doing so seems seems a tad too rigid, draconian even.
The suggestions here aren’t bad. I’d take it over what is currently shown. Good post.
If dyes were account-wide from the start, I would have welcomed it. As it is, I think it’s too late and not necessarily a bad thing. Still, you are correct, unidentified dyes are way too rare now.
I believe the are at their current difficulty so small groups can contend. Doesn’t seem flawed. If anything, these guards should scale better, so as to become much more difficult with larger groups.
When every single piece of gear gets accurate wiki entries and pictures, that would be good advice. Currently, it’s a hit or miss. Regardless, it is an extra step needed to see what a piece of gear looks like and requires an outside source. I would very much welcome the preview function in the BLTP. As for the OP, it isn’t implemented yet, because it isn’t high on the priority list and rightly so.
I understand the hesitance of a company to give definitive answers, especially game studios regarding situations such as this. You don’t want to pigeon hole yourselves. Still, everyone would benefit from one clarification: is the ascended tier the only tier increase planned. The latest dev post stats there are no plans to add tiers every 3 months. That is vague and did nothing to provide comfort for your loyal fans. Please provide clarification on what matters most. The latest dev post confused, if not angered, those in fear of gear grind treadmills.
As the title states, would be nice to be able to preview items in the Black Lion Trading Post. It is available everywhere else, thankfully, so why not there?
As this thread currently sits at 88 pages, I’m certain these points have been covered multiple times. Seeing as how some newer posts need answering (read they didn’t read the entire threadnaught), I will add my thoughts:
The ascended devblog post indicates ascended as the next tier of armor. The piece of gear used as an example happened to be explorer gear. If they posted rampage gear, would the argument be: It’s only rampage gear everything else is fine and not changing? Infusion slots are the only thing that is supposed to be specifically for the new dungeon. Let’s hope that doesn’t change. Should ascended upgrades be introduced, then we’ll find exotics possibly match ascended gear. Until then, having an upgrade slot doesn’t matter, when the ascended base stats are better than exotics with an exotic upgrade.
Most importantly, already introducing a new tier of gear this early in the game does not bode well for those of us who wished to avoid the gear grind of MMOs past. It’s too early to tell, but I, as with most against this, are fearful of what the future holds. Should this happen again, there will be no doubt as to Arenanet’s intent. Until then, I will revert to a wait and see approach, as apposed to the going all in approach I had adopted.
1. Legendaries are exactly equivalent to top tier (currently exotics). If you think anything else, reread the ascended gear devblog post.
2. The minor stat difference between exotic and ascended is similar to the difference between rare and exotic. I assume, then, most players are content with rares with no desire to upgrade?
