Necro pets, could use a rework

Facts need to be validated, not opinions.

Having said that, necros need a bit of a overhaul but so far I’m enjoying mine…I just gave up anything minion-related. Really.

I do not quite understand your metaphor with homeless people. Do you hate them so much?

Am I the only one really disappointed with the voice acting?

Are your criticisms mostly being leveled at the personal story and cinematic conversations, or also with the ambient scenes and events?

The Voice acting in the personal story events is pretty uncomfortable, but when combined with the relatively generic backdrops that take you away from the scene, that’s when it’s at its worst; there is nothing to focus on other than the delivery. It’s not terrible, but it’s pretty jarring, particularly when the NPCs are talking about the slow death of their race, the world, and everything you, as the player, are supposed to hold dear; they’re delivering lines like they’re reading a shopping list.

The voice acting would’ve felt a little more natural if it was taking place in the world, with NPCs milling around, or the serious stuff in a war room, or while the Vigil fort is being sieged; the setup dialog could be taking place overlooking the oncoming armies, dodging catapult fire and shouting to be heard over the noise. Everything that makes for great conversations in popular drama, classic war films and great fantasy was missing from the personal story.

I also can’t escape the feeling that the VO was recorded separately, at different times, like each actor was handed a sheet of paper that was “say this in a sad voice:”, so the emotional context was lost. It felt like the nature of the conversation was different to all of the NPCs taking part. It just didn’t gel well.

Finally my real problem with the personal story is two fold; I wasn’t the hero, I was a lap-dog… and secondly at no point did any of the story moments make me feel like this did back in the day; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQc7o2rm7po (SPOILER: the closest was the death of “apples”, but it was nowhere near the emotional impact of Aeris).

I’d just like to get a little more “world” into the RPG part, and a little more emotion into the journey.

Well, can’t expect Guild Wars 2 to have Celes Chere or Aerith Gainsborough. (well, I do know another popular MMO that does >.> but I digress).

I quite agree with everything that’s been said here. If at least the lines were delivered in world, maybe I’d enjoy them more. Either way, there is a skip button for most cinematics. I guess the one bad aspect of GW2 really lies in the voice acting – the soundtrack, the ambiance, and the NPC voicing outside the cinematic is excellent.

Just lower the brightness of your screen. You’ll do fine.

Perhaps some good spelling would help us understand your inquiry?

Roleplaying is a perfect reason to use the Home District. It has noble, commoner, and even shady districts; it has an hospital, an orphanage, a tavern, a marketplace; all in all it’s a great place to hang out and roleplay without the hassle of the bustling laggy world (well, it doesn’t lag for me) outside.

Necromancer levelling-up?

Yeah, I suppose..sadly I’m still a puny level 12 at the moment on my Necromancer, so I will wait a little bit.

I’m putting my traits in Curses, and the staff build is quite interesting in group play (what with the different conditions I can stack)! However so far I’ve found Well of Blood a far more reliable healing skill (I’ve saved groups from death a few times already – not bad for someone who’s supposed to feed on people’s life forces ).

With better equipment I’ve gleaned along the way, I find my Necro more fun to play with each day so I’ll just keep at it! May I ask what traits are actually good for minion play, though? Because, no matter how, they keep on dying on me all the time.

Allright, thank you! I’m going to try the staff and curse build mentionned earlier for my early building, and I’ve got the new Well of Blood spell (the one that heals over time, right?) to replace this old Blood Fiend, which died far too quickly for me to use it reliably.

Well, as a girl I would love to see more “normal” types, though again, what is present in the game isn’t too bad. I mean, there’s plenty of other games with Tomb Raider like features. I’ve made my female human average enough that she isn’t a Barbie or Anorexic Anna :P just takes a bit of tweaking.

So yeah, I bet all the whiners are likely men anyhow. I find nothing overly sexist, or patriarchic in the shapes that come with the game. Except maybe male whiners. :]

Necromancer levelling-up?

Hello!

I am pretty new to the game (and, granted, I spend far too much time roleplaying), and I seek an efficient levelling up guide to the Necromancer. After testing pretty much every class I have to admit Necromancer’s far more fun to play, and is far more my style However I have failed to find any help concerning the levelling. Mostly, where should I spend my points and how should I build up, at least until reaching a decent enough level?

(If there’s such a thing as a decent enough level, though – I find the early game awesome, which in itself is quite a feat..not mentionning any other games..)

Thanks in advance for helping ^^
