(Bug)Preventing Fall Damage using Shadowsteps

Shadowsteps/Teleports can be used right at the moment of impact to prevent falling damage, letting players survive falls they otherwise would have died from.

For an example, see here:

This is possible in any area/game-mode where you can use a teleport skill.

The only feedback I have is pretty plain – please stop trying to connect so many things to GW1.

Players new to the series with GW2 won’t know the difference between ‘new’ history and the revision of ‘old’ history, and players who put a lot of time into GW1 don’t always see these historical retcons as a good thing.

The story is very hard to enjoy when every time you stop to read something, you run into something that contradicts previously established lore.

The glitches they’re talking about might be more related to the texture mapping than clipping. I know that some costume set pieces themselves don’t ‘play nice’ with each other – the Wintersday Earmuffs textures seem to overlap with the textures used for other pieces like the Mad Prince’s Shirt, and the default boots/chestpiece.

These issues may be much more pronounced when combining regular armor sets with costume sets, which could explain why only SOME town clothes pieces are being retired.

I remember the same type of texture glitches would pop up when previewing multiple weights together, back when that was still possible.

Bonefield has a pretty good understanding here of why some mix and match is not easy at all. Some armor and clothing combinations are fundamentally not mixable, (for more than just clipping reasons)

Would you be able to elaborate on “more than just clipping reasons”? I’m sure more information regarding the reasons behind turning certain pieces into tonics will help people (myself included) understand why.

I love to use my Wintersday town clothes on my human male, but I really hate how the hat looks on him. I much prefer the coolio aviator sunglasses that he is currently wearing.
I would be very disappointed if he always had to wear that hat. x_x

I do like the Mad King’s outfit on my Norn, but I would also like to show his face while wearing it. I would also be very disappointed if he had to wear the pumpkin head all the time. :/

A little added note here, Outfits will still respect the ‘hide helm’ toggle so you can absolutely wear Wintersday or Mad King outfit without the hat or pumpkin.

Would you (or someone else more involved) be able to explain the reasoning behind these changes? I feel we’d all accept them a bit more if the reasons for the changes were out in the open.

No, the glory boosters will not be replaced, but they will be removed. The new rewards system is going to be awesome, so it should balance out. I realize that’s less than ideal, but it had to be done.

Can you explain the reasoning behind this to us again? I’m not really sure how it makes sense to just remove an item that
1) could be purchased directly though the Gem Store originally
2) dropped from Black Lion Chests (which are opened via paid Gem Store keys)
3) were given as match win rewards as well as daily rewards

Without giving ANY compensation for that. Is this because the sPvP population is small enough to not matter?

I’m sure there are reasons for this, I’m just not sure they’ve been clearly communicated that well.

GoM, welcome back. Here’s hoping you guys offer up the same fun and interesting battles you did 4 weeks ago.

DR, it’s been a long time. I hope the fights continue to be as fun the rest of the week as they have been tonight.
