I’m actually quite pleased with how the mechanic currently works. I just wish they’d polished it a little more around the edges to make sure that each profession stood an actual chance to get out of the downed state, while still having that unique feel that each profession has.

Sorry, what? You want an even better chance for classes to be able to resurrect themselves? Isn’t it already easy enough? I just can’t agree with this. In no way should anyone ever be rewarded with a second chance after already losing once. It just makes no sense.

So, after reading through this thread I’ve come to a few conclusions.

1. People that like it are the people that don’t know what they’re doing and often run in zergs.

2. People that dislike it are the people that run in small groups.

3. People say that burst builds are OP and therefor “Downed State” should exist. This is incorrect. You shouldn’t be penalized for picking a spec that kills quickly. Burst builds are very very easily killed. If you die to one while in a group of 4-5 people you deserve to be finished off.

4. People are generally neglecting to mention the amount of interrupts you will have put on you if you go to finish off a player in a zerg. There will inevitably be 3 hammer warriors and guardians standing on top of you simultaneously interrupting you without any kind of diminishing returns.

5. People are saying without downed state this game would be like every other game. This is also incorrect. Downed state is horrible and poorly though out addition to this game. If you removed it you would still have all of the other innovative features of this game without the most annoying one ever implemented in any game ever made.

I’m sure I missed some but these were the main points that keep getting brought up. A few of which are fact less and just plain annoying.

Downed state is for carebears. The only people that actually like it have no experience in 1vX situations. They don’t understand the issues with it. I wouldn’t expect someone in a zerg to understand why Downed is annoying. If someone is a burst build they should be able to kill you very quickly. Especially when they’re outnumbered. Downedstate makes it near impossible for someone to fight outnumbered.

If someone does high amounts of damage then they’re most likely sitting around 10-14k hp. They also have little to no defense. If your group of 3-4 people can’t kill them then you shouldn’t be rewarded by getting instantly rezzed then feeling good about yourself when you manage to kill the lone player.

i don’t mind. it … if i managed to be ignored i can just have my pet rez me.

some of my favourite duels ended with me and guardian hitting each other while my pet was rezzing me.

on a side note: I think killing a pet, mesmer’s image/clones, necromancer’s ads, thief’s ads should resort in a rally…

Just read what this guy said. that’s all the proof I need that Downed state is for casual players. A ranger that has a pet who can out heal damage from players. A pet that cannot die. Plus he wants to be able to rally off a pet that gets one shot. Cool

Seriously, I’ve asked around in my guild and amongst my friends. I can’t find one person that thinks Downed State is a good addition to this game. Sometimes I think back to when this game was in development. One of the devs had to have said,

Dev1 -“Oh! I have an idea! How about after someone kills you, they have to kill you again!”

Dev2 – “Yes, yes! This is marvelous idea! Perhaps once you down the enemy their teammate can then near instantly res them back to life!”

Dev1 – “Great idea! Also, we should make players in WvW be able to res by finishing off one of the millions of NPC’s located on the map.”

Dev2 – “Excellent, I also think we should give some classes incredibly useful skills while downed, with some classes getting extremely worthless skills.”

Dev1 – " That is a fantastic idea! I plan on playing warrior so I’m going to give them a skill to interrupt and then resurrect themselves."

I mean really. Sarcasm aside, does downed state make sense in any form of PvP? To me it should really only ever be a case in PvE. I should absolutely never have to worry about killing someone again after I’ve already killed them twice or three times. This is especially bothersome in WvW when you’re fighting out numbered. If you try to win a 1v4 or 2v5 it’s nearly impossible to finish someone off without the use of a stealth skill. Downed State should either be removed completely or only instituted in PvE situations.

I know there has been a lot of QQ. I know there have been many many threads on this topic. I know the forum admins close 90% of my threads, please keep this one open. It’s ruining WvW.

Anet could even keep them free. I don’t care. But seriously, make it at least two weeks. A month at the longest. If you agree just put a post in here signing the petition. Hopefully if enough people calmly say it needs to end then they’ll change something. Thank you

Yeah, I’m fine with your idea Squeal. Just give players another option outside of the top 3 servers. PvP elsewhere is far too boring. There needs to be a healthy population throughout all servers. If there was there wouldn’t be such an influx on the popular few.

So, if things keep going the way they’re going, I get the feeling this game is going to die. It already feels quite dead in WvW. I’m on Stormbluff isles, I’m used to fighting JQQ and Henge. This week we got bumped down to fight Janthir and Blackgate. They’re currently ranked 5 and 6. The difference between being in the top 3 to fighting 4-6 is huge. There is almost no resistance and extremely low player skill on those two servers. This on top of the invisibility bug has basically made my entire 30 man guild stop WvWing.

There absolutely has to be a better WvW system. The ranking system now along with night capping and free transfers every other day is ridiculous. The only thing free transfers are doing is ruining WvW. People don’t like losing. They go to servers with higher ranks. They ruin queues for people originally on high rank servers. Then the people on the high rank server all have to leave to find a new server. This process is just going to keep happening over and over again. Look at Henge. All the best guilds left because of people transferring to it and ruining queue times.

Basically, merge all the tiny dead servers into one server. Fix the stupid invisibility problem you introduced on the 7th. I’d rather have it the way it was than not be able to see ANYTHING at all. Get rid of the stupid PvE mobs or at least make it so people can’t rally off of them. PLEASE PLEASE get rid of free transfers. It’s the ruin of this game. If someone hasn’t switched to a server with their friends by now then they’re probably not very good friends.

I’d really hate to see this game share the same fate as Warhammer. It has solid PvP and Thief is the only insanely faceroll easy mode no skill class as of right now. If you guys actually listen to the community for a change instead of instituting things you think might be better then I actually see this game lasting as long as Gw1.

It’s been two days. Why haven’t you guys fixed this worsening invisible glitch? Is it that hard to roll back to the last patch? The only thing this new patch did was worsen the game detrimentally after all. Some kind of update would be fantastic! I’m only on a semi zergy server. I can’t even imagine how the zergs on Henge and JQQ are feeling right now. They must be going insane.

Also! I would like to note that load times have seemed to increase by a considerable amount. I’m not sure what they’ve done to those but load times have gone from near instant to taking up to 10 seconds. Just an annoyance.

So, Anet, like many other dev teams have seemed to break the game more than fix it. This is unfortunate. However! The point of this thread is not to flame Anet. I’m going to list a few new bugs that I noticed while playing last night and today. If anyone else has found new bugs lets hear em!

After dying and porting back to waypoint all players and NPC’s become invisible.

Sometimes upon loading in WvW the Map will continue to show the world map and not WvW map. This in turn makes it impossible to revive upon death which means you will have to wait in 3 hour queue again.

The amount of invisible players has sky rocketed. It’s far worse than it has ever been.

Honestly, just remove all the changes you made to WvW in the Oct 7 patch. Whatever you guys did has completely messed everything up in WvW. It’s not playable right now. Looking forward to hearing other bugs that people have experienced.

Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet, as I skipped 90% of the flame posts in this thread. But…. Has anyone mentioned the new 1 shot thief build? It’s been going around in WvW lately and it’s immensely annoying. The hardest I’ve been his is 12k as someone who specs toughness and survivability. However, I have friends that have been hit as hard as 19k. That’s 19k in one hit. If that isn’t unreasonable I don’t know what is. I don’t care about any other thief spec out there. They all have counters. But any class that can do over 25k damage in a matter of 2 seconds is over power in my book.

I hate to break it to you. But you’d get far better gaming results with a gaming graphics card. Not something that is made for workstations. That was a gigantic waste of money. You’ll get less FPS with a firepro 9800 than you would with a GTX 690. Even a 680 would out perform a firepro. Send it back. Do some research next time.

NA Henge players are like a Baseball player getting subbed in for the 9th inning to play left field. Oh did I mention there are 2 outs and 2 strikes. HoD NA players get free score while they sleep then act like they did something to earn this. It’s pathetic. Honestly.

I think that a map without any objectives would be a good idea. This would allow players that just want a Player vs PLAYER experience to get what they want.

It would allow players who want to do jump puzzles and map exploration to do those without taking up slots of players that actually want to help their world.

Remove all the PvE mobs from the objective maps. This will remove the issue of players getting rallied by a river drake or a bunny rabbit. Add the PvE mobs to the non objective map so players can level up on them. Or use them for whatever purpose the were intended for.

I feel like this idea will massively reduce queue time and give more casual players a taste of what WvW is like before they join the objective maps for zerg play.

Any other suggestions are welcome!

HoD only does well in off hours because they have a lot of foreigners getting free caps. That’s why they lose during primetime and comeback when everyone is asleep or at work / school.

All anyone does in this section is cry about how nothing is working. After playing this game since launch I haven’t really noticed any game breaking things. Who cares about night capping. It happens in every game with keeps. Give them time to fix stuff. It’s a new game. Miles ahead of any other launch I’ve been part of and I’ve played every game launch that’s happened in the last 11 years.

Small guild that primarily WvW’s. Looking for highly skilled PvPers. The main goal of our guild is to run around ganking and getting into skirmishes. If you enjoy fights deep behind enemy lines where you’re outnumbered 2 to 1, then you will enjoy our play style. We’ll be trying to keep the numbers of the guild capped around 10-15 active PvPers. Active means playing every night of the week. We will also be getting 5 man premade groups organized for Tournament PvP. If you don’t consider yourself to be an extremely good PvPer or are sensitive to kitten talk and banter then this is most likely not the right environment for you.

Currently recruiting any classes that are 80 and in full exotics. If you don’t meet at least those two requirements then there really is no need to bother. You can contact me in game at Hype.9361. Hope to hear from a few of you soon. Thanks.

Tired of Players Rallying off of NPC's?

Anyone getting tired of doing a 1v1 with a few Mobs on you? Then after you down the player the player kills one of the Mobs and gets a free revive. Personally I don’t think you should even be able to rally off of a mob in WvW. Players are starting to bank on losing to you in a 1v1 then rallying off of a mob. Getting more health than you because of the rally and then finishing you off. Please remove rallying off of mobs from WvW!

Reskin and add new PvP gear with stats like Power, Condition Damage, and Toughness. PvP badges are more difficult to get than pve badges. The rewards should be noticeable. When you wear a full set of PvP gear you look like a level 1 that just cleared the mini boss. For a game that’s all about skins the hardest to get armor in the game is the ugliest. Doesn’t make sense.
