I’m still having problems as of 1:45 PST, crashing when trying to load a character into the map. I can logon, but I can’t play… would like to do more of the Halloween event, given it’s a short time frame — I’m getting a bit annoyed. This patch was a real weiner.
Try what I and others have done…log in with another character, play a bit, then try again.
Last night I couldn’t get in at all. Then I could get in on my main, but not a new Revenant. Today, I tried again with Rev, but no joy, so logged in on my main. Then, whaddayaknow? I can log in on my Rev now into LA. Went through Asura gate to Black Citadel. All seems ok now.

I would contact the bank supplying your debit card and ask them what’s been going on. Get a statement from them covering all the debits you did (or tried to do). Maybe the bank is trying to do a charge-back of some kind.
Basically, the first part of that email suggests that you’ve been buying gems or items, and then trying to get you money back after receiving them. Consequently, they are watching your account. If YOU are not initiating the charge-backs, then it must be the bank/issuer of your card. check with them urgently, before you lose everything.
This is a little nuts….it’s been 3 hours and 30 minutes so far. Would have been faster to re-install the whole game. However, I’ve been doing other things, so let it run.
Seriously A-Net, why does this process take so long? I’ve checked what the computer is doing, and as you can see from the screenshot, it only seems to be reading the disk (at only around 2Mb/sec as well), and using a tiny bit of the processing power (orange line for both btw). During this time, the GW2.dat has not been written to…last modification date is 12/25/2012 at 1.28am. Only the GW2.tmp file changed when I went to log back on at 10.04pm on 26th….and the repair has been going on since! I don’t even know why it started, as I’d played the game only 4 hours earlier and logged of normally with no issues.
All I see is the little line going across the small window (very very slowly)…no indication that it has found problems, or is comparing it to anything. Honestly, I wonder if it’s just on vacation! How long is this line? If it’s equidistant, then it looks like it has about another hour to go!
What exactly is this ‘repair’ doing? How is it comparing it to anything when there is no network activity? Is there a ‘master’ file in there as well? Or is it checking hash data against a list? Some info would be helpful. for all I know, I might have an issue with the hard drive the game is on…
I’ve also added an image of the repair window, just so others can see.
It might be nice to animate the window guys…just so we know it’s actually doing something! And make it faster! it has the full power of a dual core here to use, and 8G of ram.

Hi,
i too am having this kind of issue. game just freezes, then opens the ‘Guildwars 2 has encountered a fatal error…" window, with a ’send report to Anet’ etc.
This has only really started to happen since the last update from what I remember. I had some crashes before, but now it happens every few minutes sometimes.
I’ve attached both files here.
