Run 26+. Loot’s better, I swear.

2-3 golds every run. All day every day. Pretty consistent.

Fractals with AR

Or you can just keep progressing.

If you’re up to stuff on your dodging, you don’t even need AR, and the only time your party will even know that you don’t have any is JM. The only real stigma about AR is when you can’t rely on your own dodging skill or don’t have enough healing/projectile block to maintain health in a certain grawl fight, thus you need to enforce an AR check so you can gear carry yourself via tanking out the boss hits. For 26 and below, there’s almost zero difficulty even if you have 0 AR [minus the JM gear check], so people probably won’t even notice.

I joined AR25+ groups when I was new and had 5-10 AR all the way up to FotM30, warned them, and the ones that took me anyways finished the frac 100% of the time because they had the dodge and AR themselves to carry hard. There’s simply a point at lv26 at which people won’t care anymore because they can tank it for you, so as long as you do damage and you’re not a bother dying all over the place, I’m sure people will pick you up. Or you probably didn’t want that party anyway.

Oh, and at lv26, all rings you get will be infused, so you’re good to go whenever you pick them up.

P.S. Don’t do 28 though, as it puts in a jump in difficulty for grawl shaman that you probably will get raged at for.

I'm not good at Dodging.

Daily completion: Golden Moas. Aggro 5, wait til they start hitting you with their channeling skill, then roll, you’ll get like 10 dodges even if you fail.

Practice: FotM is a good place to practice. That and people will res you if you fail usually so it’s not as punishing if you mess up a million times. But once you’re good, it’s also helpful for running it.

Alternative: Roll mesmer or guardian. These classes have projectile blocks that make it so that you don’t have to dodge as much. Or you can go with elementalist because it has like a million dodges built in.

Trick: Go guess your lag. For some reason I have to dodge about half a second before the projectile hits or it’ll hit anyway, so slowly preempt more and more until you’re well within the ‘zone’ of dodging.

What class offers better support options?

@"What’s needed for dungeons"

1 – Guardians. Needed Everywhere. Always. FotM groups you can have 3-4 and you’ll still win and in fact it makes it easier to do so because you completely negate boss projectiles once you hit saturation.

2 – Well played warriors. Highest dps per char. 100b, etc.

3 – Mesmers – Time Warp. Projectile blocks. I don’t need to say more.

Honorable Mention – Elementalists – Added support/healing while having fairly good DPS due to high uptime when played well. C. fields are a bonus. Potentially the worst class if played poorly, though, since it has the lowest base hp of the game and is very susceptible to dying.

How Do We Build Better Dungeon Teams

-Hope and believe that your teammates are competent. Personal ability to dodge attacks when needed and stand/move in the right spots can make up for any amount of role mismatch.

-Avoid filling your part with entirely thieves/rangers/warriors. [Not saying you can’t have them, but don’t have 4-5]. Also, 4-5 condition necros may be slow. The idea is that you want utility over straight up ‘damage’ classes. Assuming you’re pugging ofc.

-Avoid stacking a ton of 1 class if you want a group ‘generally’ good at everything. If they know what they’re doing, you might have the option of taking advantage of class specific errr… “benefits” that you may not be aware of. Unless they’re guardians. Which brings me to the next point.

-Bring at least 1 guardian. Usually, guardians increase the likelihood of a successful run more than any other class due to aoe-based projectile blocking. That and you get “the book”. Having a good guardian is almost a dungeon in the bank.

-There really are no ‘roles’ you play, and most classes that have ‘utility’ can choose to use it or not. So in this sense, I don’t believe you need to tag yourself as support or whatnot because even if you’re supporting, you should do damage, and if you’re dps, you should still do your best to support if you’re the right class at the right time.

-Lastly, be a leader if you’re pugging. Especially in fractals. Telling people what you are trying to do as a group regardless of whether or not they know how to do it will likely increase your odds of victory in the event that someone is new or is confused about the way you are attempting to clear a boss/area.

why do people hate magic find?

Just use the average MF in a party for each player and that’s all. Simple and effective.

That would be too obvious and simple. If Anet wanted to fix problems rather than test an awesome social experiment, they would have done so by now.

How about MF gear boosts your party members’ chance to find rare items but not your own.

Now we can keep that awesome sociopathic “DO THIS OR KITTENS”, except in reverse!

I sure love prisoner’s dilemma.

Why is Fotm punishing dedicated groups?

But due to uneven loot distribution some of us feel like it’s not worth it anymore. We do 8 fractals (10/20) per night 7 days of the week, always the same group, none of us uses MF gear, food or boosts, never the less the distribution of loot seems awful. For example, I have got 1 vial, 3 globes and 1 shard in my bank and 3 un-infused rings in total after 150+runs while one of use has more then 7 un-infused rings, 3 infused rings and loads of shards, globes and vials. We have both spent equal time, we have made the same effort but we are rewarded unequally. RNG simply sucks.

@Shards -

Shards become much more common in higher level runs, so push past 26 and you should be getting a lot more to drop. You’re only 1 shard away from being able to make an infused ring. Also, past 26, only infused rings drop. There are plenty of players at 30 who run it with 0-10 AR for fun, so this shouldn’t be a problem if you like difficulty.

Also you’ll get a welcome surprise at 28, where the difficulty actually rises without simply adding agony. [As well as an unwelcome surprise at 40-50, when they all disappear since no one can survive JM with that much agony stack without pet revive/revive orb/99% trick]

Monetarily, are you really being rewarded differently? I think it should be roughly the same.

About the original topic though… I think we’ve settled that there is no bias towards PUG runs over premade. What you’re saying is that you hate the loot distribution, which can be tough at times. But such is RNG.

As an organized group, you have 3 advantages.

1) You never have to look for a group. You call them up on the phone and ask when they want. This saves time. And lets you run whenever you want.

2) You never have to worry about the quality of a group. If all your friends are good, or at least consistent, you know exactly what you can do, when to opt out, and which dungeons run faster with your group. This, once again, saves you time. That and you don’t have to give people instructions every single run.

3) You don’t have to wait for people to get their rings. You can carry your friends and honestly if you don’t think the difficulty is hard, you don’t need AR and can do them at higher difficulty, giving you more chances than the pug player to get the ring you want. Also you only need 20 PFRs, and a few crystals to melt down into any ring you want with +5 AR. I don’t even care about the random drop anymore, I just hunt for PFRs and melt away with all the crystals I get.

Since time = money, how is this not in favor of premade groups?
