Great guide and it confirms most of my suspicions about the aoe attacks Alpha does. I never had a real problem with it but on my pug groups I noticed people kept dying while I was staying alive (usually until I was the only one alive and being trapped twice in a crystal).
To be honest these tactics are really impossible to negotiate with most PUGs you will get in to, unless you get on voip or something. The better thing to do in a PUG would be to tell everyone to dodge and then rely on them to dodge properly. It is MUCH easier just to dodge the right damage at the right time, and to walk out of circles you can walk out of.
I am a necromancer, that means my endurance bar isn’t traited / buffed to give me more dodges than what would be standard and I find it easy to keep up dodges for the attacks that matter. In this dungeon I use DS sparingly for extra survivability when trapped by crystals, it can soak up a good few attacks before running out.
Yesterday I did CoE without any deaths (apart from the lasers piece, which I ofcourse did naked and zerged into twice before cooling down and taking my time to do it properly). It is amazing how much difference a good team can make who knows when to dodge what and where priorities lie.
If I can give one tip, you can help someone up when fighting alpha, but remember, you can do this with multiple people. If you time it right and are quick about it you can get away doing it alone, but with two people you are mostly quick enough before the next attack comes your way. Even better is three people ressing a fourth and the fifth with focus from Alpha, you will res a downed, this is so quick it feels like no time is lost.
And don’t panic.
All paths are worth 20 tokens.
Each unique path has a daily bonus of 40 tokens, for a total of 60- tokens the first time through on a given day. This resets at normal daily reset time.
Thank you for your reply! That clears it up a lot. I am guessing everyone who gets less on a run is probably hitting the DR code.
Hey robert, you know what really sucks? When you do dungeon runs and as soon as the boss dies you get vote kicked.
If this happens to you you can report the offending players, because doing what you describe is against player conduct as described in the ToS. It’s griefing.
Personally I don’t do this but you can use compact party view and screenshot everyone’s names at ones if you want to safeguard yourself.
It’s a simple question but I’ve been unable to find an answer (which makes sense). Basically I want to know what I am supposed to get for a second clear of the same path.
If that isn’t a straight answer then how does the system work?
The reason for this is because I’ve seen several numbers being thrown around and it is frustrating not knowing if you’re being confronted with bugs or poor design.
We know that the ‘full reward’ (first clear of the path in a day) should yield you 60 tokens. But after that I’ve seen people saying it should be 45, half of the full reward (30) and personally I’ve been getting just 20 tokens for a second clear of a path.
These are all numbers I’ve seen for CoF paths 1/2 (3 is OP imo), and I may be affected by DR code, but I am not sure, it’s all too vague to realise what you are doing wrong. The only path I may have cleared within 30 minutes is path 1, the second part is always slower because of the bomb planting Magg does to get to the end boss (just endless deaths and accidentally dying at the same time, fix that terrible fight please :s ).
If anyone has an answer I’d be glad to hear it so I know if I should be doing bug reports for getting 20 tokens.
I didn’t ‘get’ my issue at first and did put in a bug report. I don’t know what I need to do to get reset (since I eventually did finish the story) but I would like to get reset for fix my choice. Reading about them (the choices) this evening made me see what initially went wrong.
Character name: Necro Enirria
Story: Battle For Fort Trinity
Skip: I chose “Fear of being dishonored by one’s comrades” but during “Battle For Fort Trinity” I was put on “Fear of forcing someone to suffer” where I rescued Apatia which I only then noted as being odd and inconsistent with what I did in the story before that. The mission itself (Battle For Fort Trinity) was also hard to continue since the NPCs/Trahearne kept bugging out (not progressing) but I somehow finished it after 3 tries.

The styling of that title has white-space: nowrap, meaning it will not wrap to the next line.
