Good comp in WoW. Try to kill any boss without good comp in GW2 using only Thiefs expect druid/tempest healer.


For Sabetha you need 0 dps and you will kill her so you can take stun remove(avoiding being kicked by mobs), you have 2-3 second before firewall spawn and you know where it will spawn, if you are kicked then some ppl in your group don’t use cc. Avoiding kitten on ground is easy tactics and I suppose ppl without brain can’t avoid it. Killing Bosses in WoW take a lot more time than in GW2.

I killed her in second try and 1 guy died at 30%. It take me more to kill VG and Gors.

I really don’t know how you could die on Sabetha. You give to much credits to GW2 raids.


I don’t talk about Normal when you overgear it. I talk about Normal when you enter it after release with gear from old raids. It is same hard as raids in GW2 easy tactics and need a bit dps to kill boss.

Currently I’d place VG firmly in the middle of WoW’s Heroic difficulty.

Goreseval is probably near the end of Heroic difficulty. I haven’t tried Sab yet but I think it’s probably close to Mythic level raiding.

I’m hoping for more bosses to be around the same level as Gore and Sab.

VG and Gors (something can kill you )are both like normal and Sabetha (nothing can kill you) is like LFR
LFR < Normal < Heroic < Mythic (Mythic is hardest)

1 -> GW2 doesn’t have a trinity, GW2 don’t need a tank, all players/classes TANK and HEAL and DPS at the same time, they will not increase boss damage because GW2 DONT WANT a hard trinity, GW2 has a soft trinity though.

2 ->Vale Guardian Blue circles make a super high volume noise, sometimes i tank without looking for the screen dodging only because of the noise.

3 -> Gorseval aggro is not based only on toughness, his aggro is based on toughness when everybody are at the same distance, if someone is farther he get the aggro instantly.

3 -> Sabetha don’t requires a tank, sabetha will never require a tank, different bosses have different mechanics that will have different optimal compositions, strategys, classes and gear.

4 -> If you only play tank, its probably better to look for another game, there is no real tank on GW2 and never will be.

2- I don’t play with sounds in game. I like to hear some death metal than in game sounds.

3- He is based on toughness if you are in one edge and boss on the other side he will came to you but he will stop and do auto attacks. Second problem is he turning around like mad when I stay in place without moving even 1 inch. I stay in one place pressing “1” and he move around me.

4- Gonna wait for B&S if it suck at raids and tanking then gonna back to WoW to hardcore raiding.

I only wanted to give suggestion to make this more fun to “tanks” in raids.

I don’t agree and agree with you. Most of WoW Bosses are simple but they are harder than Bosses in GW2. You see them simple and easy because most players of WoW are much more exp in doing raids. In GW2 no one know what it is even CLEAVE???!!! Bring one semi-hardcore guild to GW2 give them 2-3 days to lvl up characters for raid and then give them 2-3 h to kill all 3 bosses. I would even tell give them 1h to kill all bosses.

If player died and if he was dps and not doing smth important raid could still kill boss in WoW. I agree with you in that. I would like to see harder tactics in GW2 and more time to enrage.

At the start I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I have played before for 7 years in WoW as tank.

Vale Guardian
Is in good spot but should to hit harder and blue circles be more visible.

Gorseval
First thing about Gorseval is that he is the worst Boss I have ever tanked in my 7 years playing MMOs. His hitbox is terrible. I just staying in place trying to tank him and he move around me all the time like crazy. I have tanked bosses that had higher attack range than hitbox and it is not problem, but when he radomly turn back move few steps and then turn again to attack me or move to my right or left side isn’t good, it is bad. Sometimes when I try to bring him to wall he just randomly stop and use Auto Attack and he shouldn’t if he doesn’t have tank in range.

Sabetha
I would like to see some mechanics for tanks because right now I useless for this boss and no one want me. If someone would say go zerk and do dps I don’t want to. I playing as tank for 7 years never as dps or healer.

Next thing I would like to see is higher damage of bosses. They should hit much more so you need that toughness to reduce dmg. Everyone of them hit like wet noodle.

I see a lot of players staying in front of boss. They are hit for 10-20% hp but should be hitted for 50% of hp or more. They would need to watch for more stuff and increase personal skill.

Most of tanks just use only few items with toughness so they have more only than healer in cleric gear. I would like to see change with tough. Lets say at 1500 tough you get reduce dmg by 10%, at 2000 tough you get 15% (in total 10+15= 25%) next stage 2500 tough 20% (10+15+20=45%). It’s only suggestion.

Add tab to LFG tool for raids. LFR with tank, healer, condi, zerk option for players Looking For Raid and LFM for groups Looking For Members.

Last thing I would change in raids are boons/buffs shared only in party of 5 ppl. It is worst thing. World of Warcraft used same tactic before but they stopped using it because most of guilds stack characters with specyfic buffs. It’s against rule bring player not character. Now most of pugs/guilds need 2 zerks heralds, 2 chrono [best if one is tank(so no one want my reaper tank )], 2 PS warriors. Sharing boons in RAID group with all players will allow for more class diversity.

I will speak only from the perspective from hard raiding guilds. Raids in GW2 are easy. I was raiding in TBC, Wotlk, Cata, MoP and WoD. If someone say Sabetha is hard then I don’t know what to say. She is really easy. Tactic is nothing of WoW normal raids.Run around, avoid stuff, jump somewhere to kill smth and you don’t need damage to kill her because timer is way to long. Bosses hit like wet noodle. This is only my opinion. Staying in front of Boss as dps should be much more punishing.

The hardest thing in this game for tank is to hold agrro and generate threat. Would like to see some passive from skill/talent tree that reduce incomming damage and generate more threat from attacks. Giving every class option to taunt would be great too, but every npc should have DR for taunt so you would not play ping pong with him.

Highest toughness gets aggro. So far.

You have to hit the subject and let him smack you (while you can block) once in a while as well. But high toughness generally ensures you get the aggro when it resets.

It would be perfect if it will work always. Once Elementalist in water attunement take every agrro from me. It was in Snowblind fractal at lvl70-80. I have around 3600 tough+ full buffed and boss was following him all the time.

Hello

I am a bit new to this game. I just started playing it around 2 months ago and I super hyped for tanking in GW2. I have been playing before in WoW as tank, with every class that could tank but main tanking as Death Knight, for 7 years sometimes as hard core raider and sometimes as semi hard core raider. I have been trying to tank in fractals with my Reaper. Survivability is to good and in my opinion it should be nerfed a bit. I don’t need to move from any dangerous boss skill. The hardest thing in this game for tank is to hold agrro and generate threat. Would like to see some passive from skill/talent tree that reduce incomming damage and generate more threat from attacks. Giving every class option to taunt would be great too, but every npc should have DR for taunt so you would not play ping pong with him.
