No.
The emphasis on population/timezone participation takes a lot of the fun out of this for me. EOTM has done tons to fix that with the server pools. I would like to see it implemented in regular WvWvW.
Too little was designed to address the Zerg mentality. Inherent inequality due to random factors like player populations only strengthen the metric.
This and the arbitrary nature of class/weapon combinations makes Gw2 a stopgap for me. However by the looks of the development landscape I may be here a while.
You have to realise that you are not playing for reward chests (they are just side effect), but for fun.. wuv season was great and I am looking forward to another :-)
Nope. When they added the achievement they made it about the reward. Then fleeced us. Everyone that finished should have gotten a decent prize. And those that finished at the top should have gotten more.
I really expected better items. The Achievement list was longer then most others and yet the reward was way less satisfying. Taking into account the ton of money Anet made from server transfers I would have expected a much better or even unique reward for the first season.
As it is, if they decide to do it again I will not work towards its completion.
It’s not about being outnumbered per say, its about coverage and server participation I’m on Dragonbrand and we have recently had a mass exodus of WvW guilds. We haven’t fielded 60 in NA EST for near two weeks now.
Oh we get a group up but it only lasts an hour or so. Since I have been there I’ve seen a decline in afternoon numbers to the point that when our night shift stays late is the only time we get “fights” lately its “Rolls”.
Yes I’ve been in tight groups that can take twice their numbers in open field fights but that’s only one aspect of the game.
Is there a source for information regarding server populations and coverage?
If not someone should get right on that.
Especially with the league business coming up.
yes I’m looking for the server with enough players to field a decent sized crew but not so many as to have long que during the early afternoon hours EST
I play mostly between about 10-4pm est. I’m currently on Dragonbrand which has always been low pop during those afternoon hours especially and is now nearly desolate.
So I’m server shopping.
I play for a few hours at night as well most days but its those daytime hours I’m looking to have fun with.
My old eyes have a very very hard time finding the targeting reticule / mouse pointer in combat. Most of the effects are fire and they simply cause it to blend into the effects. If I cold change the color or resize it a bit or both I’m sure it would ease the problem.
Like I’ve said. I play ranger have since release. I like the Ranger but the pet mechanic is a forced play style. And it is the only mechanic in the game that will cut a players damage output by thirty percent for a significant amount of time.
How would a thief feel if you took his pistol for a couple minutes? Or a Warrior his sword? And these classes do enough burst damage that loosing 30% would not be crippling short term.
Seriously the I think the only rangers that aren’t looking at the class and seeing an imbalance are those who believe the their doing 23k Rapid fires when they see all those numbers on the screen.
Yah my point is not to increase pet power. If anything I would like to see a no pet option that puts 4 weapon or class based F-Skills in its place.
This would remove the “forced” playstyle. And negate the fact that rangers are the only class that can be effectively disarmed or forced to change weapons.
Chopps.5047. This thread isn’t dead. And you cant answer the question. Why is it that only Rangers can be “disarmed” and loose 30% of their damage with the killing of a forced game mechanic?
Answer that and this thread is dead.
I’m not complaining about damage or lack of spike.
I’m not whining about being beaten by some other class.
I’m talking about a forced game mechanic. Pets and their unusually inability to be the weapon they must have been designed to be.
/facepalm yourself boo boo.
Yah I bumped it. These issues are still alive and concerning, but there was no reason to start a new thread with perfectly good threads like this one floating around. So maybe save the sarcasm.
Long bow is not a sniper weapon. You can just about out heal the DPS from LRS and the damage from RF is only 3-500 per plink. I’m a high power/crit build And range attacks from every other class (except engy) out DPS the ranger. Yes I have one of everything.
To be honest I only use bow in situations where I cant physically get in range for Melee.
Question remains. What other class can be disarmed, loosing 30-45% of his damage the way a ranger can when his pet is killed?
The only concern I have with Ranger, (I’ve been playing one since release) is that it forces a specific playstyle that is simply underpowered in some situations. You do not have a choice, if you want optimal DPS you must have a pet in the fray. Thus if the pet is focused you are effectively “disarmed” for about 1/3 of your damage potential.
Which other class can you disarm?
Which other class is forced to change weapons in fight?
Oh that and I think asura rangers should be able to ride their pets.
That the prices for some of the consumables are just way out of line. I see that the cost of a single recovery package costs 300 gems or the equivalent three dollars. This seems unusually high as do the prices for black lion keys (which guarantee nothing and usually deliver on that promise) and a few other items.
Most of the other black lion offerings are fairly priced and I would like to see these items looked at for value/price considerations.
And for those who are going to say “don’t buy them if you think their too high” I didn’t but I am looking out for the company that is still making this game fun for me.
They would sell more things if they lowered their prices and as none of it has any physical value they would have absolutely nothing invested in the process.
Just two of us then. Hmmmm
Hi.
I’m an older guy and my eyes aren’t all that great. I find it nearly impossible to spot my small golden cursor on the screen I usually have to shake it several times before I can spot the movement to know where it is.
In any kind of fight this is a huge hindrance and one I feel directly discriminates against older and less sited players.
I think Anet should fix this by allowing us to re-size/re-color our reticule.
This was just one of those changes that did not need to happen. The value of 20 badges and a few pieces of siege were right in line with the difficulty of the JP, granted some were porting but many were not.
Name of the game is risk versus reward in this instance the values were pretty much right in line.
So all it does is strain customer relations. Why would you do that?
