A totally wild guess, but: I think Scarlet may be behind this.
Of course it’s Scarlet.
Scarlet is God.
Scarlet is almighty.
Scarlet so obviously created the Elder Dragons by using her timey-wimey machine (she created it from non-existent technobabble) to go back in time and make giant robots.
She is smarter than everyone in Tyria. (Apparently this is true if you read the short story online.)
I wouldn’t be surprised if Anet decided to say Scarlet Briar created the universe and all of the races.
This is one of the reasons why I left GW2; Anet treat Scarlet as this god-like figure that can never be killed. I mean, when she’s standing around, telling everyone her plot, WHY DIDN’T SOMEONE SHOOT HER IN THE FACE?!!!
She wasn’t really behind the Reactor meltdown.
She was there to work with the Inquest but from what I see from her dialogue, it sounds like the Inquest wasn’t really listening to her of the dangers there.
And the reason why the reactor had a meltdown was another thing. The Inquest experimented on one of the worst possible locations to experiment on magic. It was on an intersection of the ley lines. Something they discovered too late.
Good point. What I mean is, they shoehorn Scarlet in E-V-E-R-Y-THING. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Elder Dragons were freaking robots that Scarlet built, and that she was behind the entire events of Nightfall.
So, as expected, Scarlet was behind the Thaumanova Reactor.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she created the Six Human Gods, honestly.
Well done, Anet! I’m truly excited for this update! (Can’t get on yet.) At least they paid attention to the fact that krait are highly xenophobic, and I’m so happy that Anet is making the Living Story more “alive.”
The only thing I hate about this update is that it’s (surprise!) another alliance that was probably formed by Scarlet. :P
Sorry, but no. She’s the ultimate villain/Sue, she has a ridiculous and rushed backstory that’s been done countless times (I saw the past, the present, and the future…. so I’m gonna go CRAZY! And invade places! For no reason at all! Huehuehuehuehue!)
She’s incredibly annoying, has an awful concept…. Anet just screwed up. Why aren’t we focusing on the threat of the Elder Dragons? Give us a new villain that MAKES SENSE, like Shiro, or Vizier, or Abbadon, or Palawa Joko…. Nope, Anet decides to throw in a few wee little hints towards Scarlet that nobody noticed, especially new players who missed out on most of the LS content, and WHA-BAM! A wild Villain/Sue appears!
Stop with the salad-focus. Kill Scarlet. Weave together an interesting story that people like.

Hey! I’m Frey, or, uh, just call me Indy. :P
Anyways, [TmnT] would love to have you! We’re a fun-loving guild that loves to talk to eachother, and have 15 peeps at the moment. I’m one of the 4 leaders!
We don’t have teamspeak, but we all know eachother quite well, have a guild bank (even if it’s a small one at that) and everyone would love to have you with us!
We basically do a wee bit of everything; dungeons, WvW, events, etc. There’s a bit of everything for everyone!
If you’d like to join, just mail me in-game (Freygred), and that you basically just want to join [TmnT]! Thanks for your time!
Title says it all. We didn’t get any hints whatsoever that Scarlet was pulling the strings of the Atherblades/Molten Alliance, so THAT seems to hint that Anet has been writing the story along the way. It’s so… BAD, because Scarlet had so much raw potential to be an amazing villain. Instead, she’s the generic “I’M CRAZY AND I’M GOING TO INVADE insert landmass here! AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” villain, who had no creepy hints before Clockwork Chaos. Nope, she just appears outta nowhere, with no hints prior before CC. (Clockwork)
She’s annoying, badly realized, and completely unexpected. (In a bad way.)
Some of you have probably seen WoodenPotatoe’s speculation on SAB’s weird stuff. Well, here’s mine.
First of all, one of the books in SAB is titled “Avoid the Genie.” Then, there’s that genie at the beginning of World 3 who wants you to destroy “the true enemy’s machine,” which turns out to be a copycat of the SAB. Why? Is the genie evil? Is it a sentinent part of SAB, or did Moto program it to do that? When you ask him about it, he seems oblivious like he’s trying to hide something…. but why would MOTO do that?
Then there’s the mystery in the short story, “Shadowbox.” Why did that shadow appear for a second? Who perfected the SAB prototype while he was asleep? (The story clearly states it was not perfect at all.)
Post your speculations about the weird stuff in SAB here.
So, 20 minutes after the update, all I see is people complaining. Complaining. COMPLAINING.
Look, people. It’s hard. IT’S. HARD. But this is the first time we’ve fought him. We will get better; I promise. It takes time to get better at something, you know?
We got a massive, epic upgrade to Teq. And it’s awesome. The only thing that really stopped everyone was the trolls on the turrets; who were either AFK or just not doing anything at all.
I mean, come on. This felt more epic than the Zhaitan fight. :P
