Oh, how stupid of me. Well thanks for the advice, I didn’t realise that. What an awful “fix” :P I’m mostly new to the game so I never saw these placeholder models before.

Since 2 patches ago every player character I see seems to be replaced with a black model that looks like a shadow with some messed up armour on. I ran the repair tool, same problem. Screenshot attached, all characters look like this. (But the model changes to represent the race as usual)
Help appreciated please.
Edit: Drivers updated, no improvement. I should also note that npcs dont look like this, they look fine

They are both really terrible, you should wait until you can afford something better. Also I had an intel pentium D and my framerate was about 7, don’t get one please/

I agree with this A lost of boots look fine but some look weird (Try the set in the character creator on the Elemantal, looks silly)

And my machine is pretty much identical to yours Jimmothy but I have a radeon 6450 and play on 3 fps even while questing, making the game a complete waste of money for me (And it’s not cheap).
I completely support the OP.

I have a 6450 and I get about 5fps, and with each lovely new optimisation patch it’s slowly creeped lower, though the controls now feel less sluggish. And my cpu is not on full load either. Basically, I would have done better off burning the money I spent to buy this game, it would have done more for me.

To OP: There’s something wrong with the game and loads of people are having this issue (Low fps for no discernible reason at all) I don’t think you should be worrying about it being your system, it’s very likely to be the game.

Sorry but you won’t MAX your settings on that budget, just the way it is, you’ll need something higher. As Zelta says it’s recommended to get one of the cards from their newest generation and not the 6xxx gen too (7xxx is newest)

ATI are just as bad. There has been NO new driver since gw2 and their beta is currently older then their release. I’ve been unable to play since the 3-day early opening and Arenanet is prioritizing on hacked accounts and openly admitting theyre not paying much attention to this issue, it’s starting to get very frustrating. Just look on the forums and you will see users of both card type complaining of very low fps when they have great systems.

Very large amounts of people having problems like this.. Im stuck on 7 fps and it’s literally unplayable, which makes me very angry when I see messages about how they are prioritizing hacked accounts, when I can’t even play either.
Also, I might be wrong in thinking this, but I think you have a bad processor choice. You might have 8 cores but games are mostly dual threaded and each core is very low in individual power? You might want to look into this and getting one of them replaced with something beefier

I would utterly recommend you get an i5 instead of i3 and keep your current graphics card, though it’s an old generation it is a higher performance one from that series and guild wars is very badly optimised at the moment. Not only is it very CPU bound but many people have issues with it only using small percentages of the graphics card capabilities, so you’re better off keeping that and waiting for optimisation as in terms of graphics the game is very un-demanding.
