Can conditions crit?

No, however crit can still be useful on condi builds. Some(most?) classes have some traits that add a condition on critical hit.

That’s pretty eerie; I match this.

Elementalist(80) -> Guardian(80) -> Mesmer(80) -> Thief(80) -> now working on Engi(39)

Mostly play Guardian/Thief when I jump on an 80.

I was surprised that Mesmer was tied for last. Overall though, its a pretty even distribution. I guess I understand Warrior being tops, people like to be a big bad tough warrior – although I deleted mine ‘cause I didn’t like it and made a Guardian.

On the Ele, I just got my Ele to 80 and love it. You have more skills to use than the other classes so its fun to play.

It’s not even -that- many more skills when you consider our F1-4 doesn’t add anything, and also when considering our auto attacks dont do damage worth using.

Also not buying because of soulbound. I have way too many chars I play regularly.

Manual or automatic?

I do agree lol,I was merely trying to list well known cars so people understood the reference.

I kind of agree with the rest of what you said as well. Though I’m unsure if this path was arenanets intent with the class or not, as we’ve really have nothing to go by due to poor communication. Which is partly adding to the complaining. If anet came out and said it’s supposed to be a tank utility caster,I think there would be less complaining. (Except by those of us who would have never even played the class has it been described that way from the start.) But as of right now all we have to go off of is the class description.

Baladir

As of right now the people complaining don’t feel that eles utility is superior enough to compensate for the lack of top speed. (For instance 6 seats instead of the other classes having 5, but eles 6th seat is in the front middle, covering the stick.)

Manual or automatic?

The difference isn’t the effort it’s the performance. What good does manual do you if you are driving a manual Toyota Camry, while everyone else is zipping around in an automatic Ford mustang by.
They are going faster and for less effort. The effort is really just the kicker.

I must be doing something wrong because elementalist rocks!

Yes you can do well on ele. But as you even said and admitted it takes more effort(which you and some other masochist actually enjoy). When the fact is, the same amount of effort put into the “easy” classes will nine times out of ten yield better results. This is the issue reasonable people have.

Puzzled about PvE Elementalist Posts

People made the class thinking it was going to be a traditional burst mage archetype, like in nearly every other game. When in reality Elementalists don’t have enough burst to make that path viable. Which then pigeon-holes the class into a Bunker build to even be productive.

Also, it’s really a misconception that the Elementalist is hard to play. Everyone says the class is hard to play and has a high skill-cap because the player has to juggle 20 skills, but anyone who has played almost ANY other MMORPG have been playing with 30-50+ skills without issues. 20 skills to use does NOT make the class hard to play(perhaps hardER than the other classes, but not hard).

Those who complain likely aren’t as bad as the class enthusiasts assume. They assume those complaining aren’t good at the class, or don’t like the class and tell people to reroll. When we do like the class, in fact love the class, which is why we complain and some of us are indeed good with the class.

Now I’m not denying that the class can be played well with a good player, but a good player could use a wet noodle as a weapon and still do well. That doesn’t mean using a wet noodle is a good idea.

My 2 cents.

I feel a little mislead...

You mislead yourself. Nobody is saying it’s unplayable. They say every other class can do everything better and easier.

It basically has nothing it excels at over other classes. With the possible exception of AoE damage(If your enemies are even dumb enough to sit in the AoE; Which if they are you could have simply murdered them under normal circumstances. ) Maybe mobility? But even then it’s arguable that thief can do that easier

Yes you can still win versus people of lesser skill than yourself, and still do well if you try hard.

As for your list, I dont feel like breaking it down but basically under the exact same circumstances every other class would do more, and more efficiently.

Balancing in PvE

If you´re about competitive pve playing, nothing is holding you here. There will be elementalist players voicing their concerns here, having fun playing the game at sub-optimal level. If you feel you´re not having fun playing ele because you don´t have fun because you don´t have enough gold, and like other classes too, switch. It´s that simple.
Not everything is about being the best.

It’s that exact mentality that IS occurring.
People ARE switching.
I’ve already switched to my alt(lvl 80 Ele) to a Guardian.
I still frequent the Ele forums because I do enjoy the Ele play-style, but it needs fixing before I’ll go back to it.

Was I having fun on my Ele? Hell yeah. But not enough to justify the loss in efficiency that -ALL- the other classes have.

So you in total with all things accounted you have more fun with other professions, good for you.

Personaly i´m having more fun as elementalist even with loss of efficiency, good for me.

If things change, and they will if it benefits the game, welcome back.

Meanwhile enjoy playing.

The fact that people are rerolling, shows that pve balance is important. People dont want to work harder than other average Joes.

The majority populous shouldn’t suffer overall, for the fickle mindset that the gameplay is fun. That and the few people who want to be special flowers.

As far as PvE balance, imo it is a big deal. (PvP balance is a no brainer)

It’s more important to the competitive people out there, that guy next to you killing twice as fast is HUGE.
He gets twice as much loot, he gets money faster. With that money he gets geared faster, gears his Alt chars faster, can control the trading post market easier, can craft easier, etc etc.

Also it’s kind of depressing when everyone around you is killing twice as fast, and die half as much. It makes people start to regret their decision.(Regret shouldn’t happen in a game! At least not with a choice so trivial as job profession.) Usually by that time, you’ve already gone too far to really want to start over.

In those senses you get penalized. Not only do you have a harder time doing the same things, but also have a harder time keeping up with market inflations and also not being included in dungeons. It’s wasted effort, regardless of whether or not it’s fun.

The Ele play-style is fun, but it’s not in a competitive state right now.
