Yes. It’s only fair here. I’ve been over the “unconvincing armor” trope since it started, I’d rather not like that continued so brazenly here.
My main question is: Is it possible to rebind the actual number keys to other skill slots, including one. In other word, if I wanted to use 1, 2, 3 for my utilities, would that interfere with the left-click auto-attack?
What build are you guys running? I got
Strength: Middle, Middle, Up
Tactics: Down, Down, Down
Arms: Middle, Middle, Middle
Hahah, y’know, it’s easier to put this system into text than that. Each selectable trait is limited to three so 1,2,3 notation is just as logical
Strength 221
Tactics 333
Arms 222
See?
A friend actually tipped me off to that.
My problem now subsists of not being able to reinstall the game at all because the installer is stuck at the very start of the process, unable to connect to the download servers at all.
I’ve completely disabled’s Avast and it still does this. Any help?
Op is not asking for the meta build. Everything that he said contradicts what the meta build is about. He also probably doesn’t need banners on his bar. And he is not asking for a PVP build
Ya my advice to you if you just want to do PVE but want to keep the soldiers armor and you dont have money. Is just replace the soldiers runes with either Ruby Orbs, Scholar runes, Ogre runes, or Hoelbrak runes if you want to stack -20% condi with leek soup dogged march or something.
And then do Zerker weapons, and zerker trinkets. With sigil of force and accuracy.
For traits and defense 15 points in defense is all you need to feel tankyer Cuz that is adrinal healing then do healing sig as the healing skill the regen will make you tanky in PVE.
Then just pick up 15 in in dis for faster weapon swaps.
you have 40 points left now either put 30 in arms and 10 in str or put 25 in arms 10 in str and add the last 5 to dis or defense.
This sounds like pretty much what you want. So… best of luck
This is EXACTLY what I wanted, thank you so much. I’ll play around with the ideas here and see if anything gels.
You can change the gear if you want to be more tanky though a warrior really doesn’t need to be tanky. You should be doing rotations of gs burst and axe auto to maximize damage.
I’m not the best player really, so yeah, -I- need to be at least a little tanky to not just die all the time. I don’t just stand there but I’m no keyboard gymnast. I’ll check this out though, thanks.
Still looking for more ideas though. I wanna grind out one of those new bladed pack pieces for this guy and I need a trait setup to do it with.
Synergetic Tempered Spinal Blades - How Do?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Ishiga.6053
cost of ascended comes from the crafting professions.
specifically for the “gift of blades”
tailor is 15 bolts of damask
Leatherworker is 15 elonian leather
Armoursmithing is 15 deldrimor ingots.so yes, tailor is incredibly expensive.
but that is for the ascended. I got mine to exotic level and well on my way to a second for nothing really, already had a bunch of the mats to use.
Ok hold on… I’m just coming back to the game and I’ve never even touched a crafting level higher than the previous cap so I don’t know what mats are what level but…
Is this Damask stuff the same level as the Deldrimor and Elonian leather? Because that doesn’t sound like a problem ANet can fix that cloth scraps and bolts are still stupid expensive compared to other mats. In fact I never understood why the hell they were. I just sold a handful of jute scraps for 10s. JUTE!
If I’m wrong, forgive me, but if not, this doesn’t sound like an easy fix since they actually did what they were’s supposed to in keeping things craftable for everyone like that.
Alright, it’s been almost more than a year since I got into the game due to loss of hardware. I kept track of many of the changes but as of now, my heavy arms warrior (Dontain’s tanky DPS build) is completely busted.
All of the traits are moved about in a way that ruins any hope of putting the build together on my own so I figure I may as well try something else. Now, the only statics about this help I’m dictating are this.
- Greatsword as the main weapon
- No full Zerker spec
I don’t need to run PVT completely anymore, and as much as it pains me, I can ditch the soldier’s runes if I have to. But I don’t have the will to completely rebuild the guy from the ground up.
Any advice guys?
So yet again the bots ruin something for everyone. Whatever, one less reason to enjoy guild mechanics.
why do people use guild transport by the way?
one can simply enter their home server borderlands citadel and access the guild register for the guild vault.
Because sometimes it’s not worth a loading screen. Especially on lower-end computers.
Yeah I can confirm this. I do not approve. At all.
They’re also a T5 consumable now, as if they’re that useful to begin with.
Who the hell is making these calls?
(edited by Ishiga.6053)
This whole problem boils down to the fact that Legendaries are incessant time and currency sinks for no good reason.
If their method of acquisition were less of a grind and more of a quest, people would hardly feel their binding status needs addressing.
LOL I’m looking through it’s traits now! This class would ROCK SO HARD. XD
Dervish was a profession from Guild Wars 1. I’ll go ahead and assume this is an April Fool’s Day joke by the site.
Same. Though they’re already doing a kitten nice job of mocking that up.
Hell, that auto attack chain looks cripplingly OP too. lol
Actually you did. You were a snide tool and should have helped them instead of expecting everyone to know how to skip mobs like that’s what you’re supposed to do.
This is why I hate dungeons. People like you. Not everybody knows how to skirt around content for the sake of speed and in all honesty I wish ANet would bottleneck dungeons so you HAD to fight some of the trash. Then maybe people would learn proper kitten teamwork.
Nope, I just got booted from the game while WPing to the fields of ruin. I was sure it’s not just me.
I think GW2 wanted to integrate so many different styles of gameplay, to appeal to such a wide variety of players, that the eventual way everything was incorporated ended up making it focused on a very specific type of player.
It sounds odd, but if you look at the game it is sort of true.
I agree. This game appeals to few people I know that came from other games solely because they played those games BECAUSE of how they were built. Coming to this was amusingly jarring for them.
I was just reading a short thread about someone getting bored with the lack of gear grind.
I smiled a bit inside.
Not everyone has the composure to farm the same banal content over and over until they have the bestest best baubles and lord it over people. This game is for people that want to be on primarily equal footing.
Take myself for example. I’m a tried and true “medium-core” gamer. I love a nice complex system and a few long-term goals to work toward but especially difficult content or unfriendly people cripplingly frustrate me. I can’t stand dungeons due to the incessant number of overpowered damage dealing "whatever"s, I’d be WILLING to try fractals if the elitists weren’t hoarding all the parties, that sort of thing.
And it turns out I don’t have to do things that way, I can get my gear for the most part from other content to get in a better spot and THEN try some of that harder content again IF I choose.
I’m happy for that personally. This game IS for me.
I feel that the one odd complication in PvE culling is the fact that the enemy mobs are culled as well as players.
This in itself is kinda fixable due to the fact that the players can be culled all they like [perhaps with party members getting a sort of superiority in the order in which player models draw to keep tabs on one’s group in a fight easier], but the enemies shouldn’t be at all. At most they should be impostered, but since that’s what we’re focusing on as a huge group then the enemies should be constantly visible and select-able.
Now I don’t purport to know what actual technical hurdles the devs face in the PvE culling issue but I just figured I’d throw my own ideas out there.
The quest is still in this game.. its called “personal story mode”
See this is a perfect springboard for what I was going to say.
This is essentially correct in that this is how traditional questing is handled in this game as opposed to others. Even then it’s not the typical collect x magi-leaves or kill x feral scoodily-poopers.
It’s an actual quest. A task you have to complete through many different steps. This is what any type of questing should be like in this game. Since they seem to like instancing stuff, they could make instances for these. They’d be much smaller in scope than the story but they’d all be different tasks that don’t require an actual number grind save for maybe activating some Asuran device and it needs so many salvaged somethings – things in proper context instead of just mindless culling or some such bunk.
How’s that idea strike people?
From being one of the people who would never receive rares outside of Fractals and the general ignorance of the people in those threads that contained the ever-so-popular “Oh, it’s not happening to ME, so it must not exist.” mentality —- I’m not too surprised to see this thread.
Just gonna shake my head in disgrace and enjoy my first rares in months until you guys get it nerfed. At that time, I quit. Enjoy your mindless grind.
Seriously. for the first time I have the money to BUY BAGS… more shocking I have a reason to have them, because I can actually FILL them for once.
I just don’t understand you, OP… There are games that would satisfy your hardcore no-reward mentality, why don’t you try them?
Here here!
Most of the content isnt for 5man groups!!!!
Get this through your heads
Its the ONLY content for MULTIPLE GROUPS
Small guilds have access to ALL dungeons and LOTS of content while FINALLY we have content requiring LOTS OF PLAYERS
It’s not about completing the content, kitten, it’s about getting to it. Let the people stubborn enough to do 10-man content with 5 men actually run into the brick wall themselves. Don’t put a bed of glass between them and the wall.
Get that through YOUR head.
Then they’re stubborn enough to grind out the supposed insurmountable amount of influence to start it themselves.
This would have been true were these missions not just implemented a matter of hours ago. The might even already be doing them.

8-12 man guild. Nothing but WvWvW and some instances for gear. Had 100k influence. If you have 5-10 people in your guild and no influence left, maybe you should stop buying guild banquets.
And that’s where your rebuttal falls short. What about the pure PvE’ers that won’t touch WvW? Or the guilds even smaller than that?
This was intended to be for huge success-obsessed guild then? I don’t buy it.
I love this game to death but I’m legit getting pee’d off with these people.
Yeah it’s not that having the missions be hard is the issue here, it’s GETTING to the missions that is the problem. It’s behind a huge wall of influence that a 10 member guild will never see on its own.
This wasn’t very well thought out in my opinion.
It is true that letting each player have a stack is unlikely to be the solution, however we do intend to solve this problem.
Why not? You can’t solve the problem if individual players can’t maintain their own stacks. How is it that other MMOs such as WoW and Rift can do this but you guys can’t figure it out? I know that DoTs in those games are handled differently (i.e. they don’t have the stacking mechanic that this game does), and that is why you guys are having such a hard time balancing conditions. The mechanic is just flawed and needs to be redone.
Players want to feel like they are contributing to damage and not just overwriting each other’s conditions.
Correction: They can’t solve the problem like you want them to.
This was already clarified in the interview. Conditions require bandwidth and parsing that many queries would be too much burden on their servers.
While it’s good to hear you’re doing something…you’re still TALKING about solutions? 6 months this system has been broken, seriously week 1 there were plenty of threads about how condition builds get screwed due to caps. You should be well passed talking about solutions and testing them. And please! For the love of all that’s holy get a PTS server going so we can test this and any other class changes faster as well as make sure your logic isn’t flawed like the current condition system.
Yo…dude. Calm down. Six months is nothing in software development and they have had all sorts of other fixes that probably took higher priority. Like exploits, progress blockers, dealing with bots, hacks, stability issues, trying to solve culling, balance tweaks for sPvP…and the list goes on and on with issues that effect everyone, including, but not just, the subset that wants to run conditions.
The studio doesn’t have infinite resources. They don’t work 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. Releases have plans and a schedule and are usually a mix of what can be done what has to be done and what they want done.
If you don’t understand software development cycles or how the design process and implementation works then you should probably be a little less judgmental.
On top of the fact that this wasn’t even being complained about as actively as it is now for all of those six months.
Give them time to adapt to the players’ qualms.
OK I see now… Well I didn’t have a leveling build until now anyway but I just started rolling the signets and the difference is noticeable. Again I’m new to the warrior. Thanks for the help everyone!
But my problem is – and I half think this is just how warriors feel in play – that he’s too kitten killable at low level. My warrior is only lvl23 and I’ve been getting offed way to much. I have no survivability and soloing annoys me.
I’m not used to playing melee. My first main was a Mesmer, then I got into a gunner thief. I’ve been wanting to melee but this is proving to be frustrating.
Any suggestions, good people?
2 in somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,960 hours open world exo drops. Got one around 400 hrs and one around 1,200 hrs. Hopefully I’ll get another in next 140 hrs.
I find it hard that someone who has at least 1900 hours in game would only have got 2 exotics, ever.
Oh really?
1200+ hours. Not a single exotic drop yet. Not one since day one.
grenth, grenth…
everybody answers “grenth” to counter talks about midless zergfest.i need to go take a look over there.. see if there is hope for open world content to be rewarding gameplay.
I only have one thing to say about him.
He’ll spike you like a football, literally.
I’m too much of a ragegamer to deal with that kind of cheap kitten.
Me and my guildys stay on our feet at that event But its fun to see al the players like yourself hit the dirt.
I slam down my WarBanner and BAM daily heals done.
now if others could just do the same
I just can’t move quick enough on my trashy computer. Running in there with a glass-cannon gunner thief hardly helped things. Hard to revive anyone when the launching attack I’m talking about kills me from fall damage alone and instantly. pretty much pointless for me to try there. But enough about this, I don’t wanna hijack the thread.
I myself am excited for these. I’d like to know if they only cater to large guilds because I don’t find myself keen on those that force 100% Rep but as it stands The biggest guild I’m in now is 5 people.

You got almost 1500 hours of play out of GW2. I think you got your money’s worth of content.
Time spent/invested is -NOT- the same as ‘’quality or money’s worth’’ at all, and who ever think otherwise is delusional, especially in MMOs.
Cool story. No one does anything for 1500 hours without enjoying it.
Try again.
Anyone working a dead end job. Next?
I would really like this. If D3 did ANYthing right it’s this one aspect of its skill system.
The only thing I would see wrong with this is it’s unlikelihood of being implemented in anything other than a major expansion to be purchased in the future. To be honest, though, I’ve not gotten excited about spending meager money on an expansion pack for anything in my life. I would more than I already intend to were this a part of the package.
Good luck balancing that. Didn’t work especially well in D3, I doubt it would do more then force people to play with certain ones.
Edit: Don’t get me wrong, it would be a cool thing but I think in the end it would cause more problem then help the game. :/
I don’t see this forcing anyone into any kind of role, I see it opening up more roles that people would want with their preferred class. Like people wanting a support guardian. That’d be crazy viable at this point, in many different ways even.
Rytlok cause his a great big kitteh!
If our inner furries are showing themselves then I vote Tybalt. He’s more handsome than every other Charr in the game. Though that’s not hard to do really. |D
I miss him…
Actually the mystic sword is the only one that costs 50 coins.
It’s actually always been that way. WHY, I have no clue, but no they didn’t up it for them all just to ease that worry.
To touch on that, why does it take 20 or possibly 30 days to get a ring? When it only takes 10 days to buy one running daily fractals, even less if you do more than one.
This has been discussed. It’s a more passive road to ascended gear so of course it’ll take longer. At least that’s my view of it. I don’t mind waiting for it since getting into fractals seems to be a hell of a trial for me and I already get super-easily frustrated with dungeons everywhere else.
I don’t know about you but I burned my first 5 laurels on dyes. I like dyes and I’d rather only splurge on the one really rare one I need at a time what with some dyes going for 5+ gold.
That’s hard for me to come by since dungeons frustrate me easily. Hard to run a lot of them on a janky computer.
Cribbage, you’re coming off very badly in this thread. You have the demeanor of someone who just came here to start an argument.
My original post explains very clearly why I came here. I had no intention of starting an argument, and I can confidently say that if the discussion had remained on the point of whether 1800 is an appropriate price for server transfers, there would be nothing here that resembled any kind of an argument.
I think the main problem is that – for whatever reason – there are a number of users of this forum who reflexively post something aggressive/adversarial when another user mentions leaving the game.
To my mind, leaving the game is just something that happens in MMOs. You don’t play them forever. Similarly, it’s pretty normal not to like some aspects of the way an MMO is run, and it’s a reasonable thing to seek to put that opinion out there to the other players.
It doesn’t need to be a source of drama or conflict.
The reasons for this are two-fold.
One – you seem hell bent on ignoring the obvious, reasonable solution being presented to you out of some skewed sense of currency value that is entirely false.
Two – It makes you sound self-important. Especially because you’re leaving for such a vapid reason.
Where have I ignored the solution presented to me? In every post it has been suggested, I have given my reasons for not being comfortable with it. I rejected it, I didn’t ignore it.
Not agreeing with something is not a crime, and is not the same as ignorance.
Just out of interest, have you given a moment’s thought to my explanation that PvPers make no gold and I don’t like hitting up my friends who do not have a lot? Or have you been ignoring that in favour being belligerent?
You’re right, my wording was flawed, I apologize for that. I’m just cross with the fact that this is so difficult for you to do. This is coming from someone that doesn’t do PvP unless he’s just THAT bored. Why? Because you don’t get anything out of it but bragging rights and I’m not out to impress anyone with numbers.
I guess I’ll bow out. I’ve never been any good at stepping into another’s shoes since people seem to think that means trading personalities and upbringing in an attempt to feign sympathy. Personally I don’t know what it’s like to buy a game solely for one very exclusive aspect of it. PvE is the meat of every MMORPG out there; I don’t understand how one bears no interest in taking part in that, especially with such an incentive as this.

I was legit lol’ing as I read the list. That’s pretty much how it goes in any mmo forum.
Thing with me is, I can’t help but feel like that screams balance in and of itself. If enough people playing any given class complain hard enough about anyone else playing any given class, after a while everyone complains about everyone and all is right with the world. lol
Also Trahearne is pretty to look at…but I miss Tybs…
See this raises a viable point. I’m in the midst of an experiment actually. I’m making a support Guardian. A sylvari named Naolse. Staff/mace+shield, Stacking pwr/heal/ConDmg/toughness, traits of 0/0/20/30/20.
I’m determined to prove this is a viable build. You still have to deal some damage but then that’s not hard to do and it’s even easier in a party. Not to poopoo the argument here as a PURELY support role should be viable but then even I don’t have any ideas in that vein. I’m just sharing my way of getting around it at the moment.
(edited by Ishiga.6053)
The Charr’s Hidden Pistol. Great spacemaker. And the engineer’s toolbelt skill for it is just as useful for a burst of damage.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people using the Sylvari racial skills to and my friends swear by the human elite, Hounds of Balthazar.

Aside from the obnoxious auto-changing background, this site has guides for each discipline and gives you an approximation of all the mats you’ll need to level it all the way up.
“Swearing is a really important part of one’s life. It would be impossible to imagine going through life without swearing and without enjoying swearing… There used to be mad, silly, prissy people who used to say swearing was a sign of a poor vocabulary -such utter nonsense. The people I know who swear the most tend to have the widest vocabularies and the kind of person who says swearing is a sign of a poor vocabulary usually have a pretty poor vocabulary themselves… The sort of twee person who thinks swearing is in any way a sign of a lack of education or a lack of verbal interest or -is just a kittening lunatic… I haven’t met anybody who’s truly shocked at swearing, really, they’re only shocked on behalf of other people. Well, you know, that’s preposterous… or they say ’it’s not necessary’. As if that should stop one doing it! It’s not necessary to have coloured socks, it’s not necessary for this cushion to be here, but is anyone going to write in and say ‘I was shocked to see that cushion there, it really wasn’t necessary’? No, things not being necessary is what makes life interesting -the little extras in life.”
~Stephen Fry
First, dont put “Opinion” in your title, there is no reason to be afraid of the billy club weilding person trolling the forums out of spite, everyone knows the forums are opinion. The only facts put out are those by Anet employees, some anyways.
News flash. That’s the forum moderators doing that. I clicked into this thread and that “opinion” part was not there before.
They intentionally insert that into forum titles.
I’ll be keeping my eye out for this thread.
I don’t have the grindy patience for this sorta thing. So I’d love to know how you did this.
Yes…. The game is not Free2Play, it’s Buy2Play. The sentiment behind the confusion there is that you do not need to KEEP paying for the game. Subscription fees are (hopefully) going the way of the dinosaur and that’s how it should be imo.
If it takes someone a year to make 60 anythings by way currency, I do believe they have bigger things to worry about than the condition of their MMO they burnt money on that they didn’t have to burn. But I digress.
I’m a PvE player. I could give two kitten about PvP and competitive gaming because I’m not here to show off to other people that I can punch their faces in for nothing more than bragging rights. I find that pointless. As such, the only people who are up in arms about this rollout of new gear are the people who min/max their kitten off for the sake of trouncing other characters. I understand that I don’t understand the competitive mindset at all, so I won’t weigh in on that with my personal opinion.
This issue is really only being blown out of proportion due to the way ANet implemented the Ascended gear out of the gate. The dungeons are simply the insertion method. They’d stated in several places that they intend to make ascended gear available to be obtained in several more manners aside from the Fractals. People just don’t want to wait for a less grindy method of getting them yet.
The point I DO agree on is that ANet needs to stop making these events last only a short time when they have yet to release any content patches that aren’t bugged to high hell. Heck, the main game itself isn’t even polished completely. The Straits of Devastation’s Temple of Balthazar event chain was broken for me my first time there. Why make events when you can’t hammer out the kinks in your baseline product?
You, sir, are the reason I switched from an Engineer main to a Mesmer. Stellar work and I do hope you’ll do a Guardian guide like this in the future. I’m dying to understand that class as well as you’ve helped me grasp this one.
