My belief is that the DSD is trapped under the Jade Sea. Remember Kuunavang? My theory is that she is/was his champion and because of him being trapped in the Jade Sea made by Shiro, that she was able to act freely and to help the heroes in Factions. It seems that the connections of ED to their champions and minions are a telepathic/mental connection. Because there wasn’t anything to really break the tie between Glint and Kralk that she had to be cleansed and for that she was permanently free of Kralk’s influence. Kuuny, on the other hand, only has a temporary break in her being controlled by the DSD. Cantha is so far from Kryta and the land that we have access to that we wouldn’t see any of the DSD minions this far from his territory, if they are in fact active now.

We can’t access Cantha and for all we know it’s utter chaos there especially due to them becoming completely xenophobic. So unless Anet will allow us to travel to Cantha, we may never see the DSD. Also, because of the Jade Sea being completely solid, the DSD may not have his connection to Kuunavang and was unable to awaken properly. I imagine it would be quite hard to break through all of that water turned to jade, so if he has awoken, then he is probably quite upset.

NEW PETS!!!

and thats the main problem with ranger and their pets since release….

people choose them cause of the skin

why anet dont you detach pet skins from their skills?

Because having a pig flying around breathing fire would be very weird?

and now people choose the weakest pets only cause their are sooooooo cuuuuuuuuute and wondering why they are kicked after entering dungeons^^ thats even more weird behaviour than breathing fire flying pigs

and btw we´re killing fire elemental with fire ….. the game is also weird out now

Who says I take my ranger into dungeons? And even if I did, why does it matter to you anyway? It’s a cool pet and it’s adorable. Just because it “may” not be that great of a pet doesn’t mean I can’t have fun with it. So yes, I will remain excited about a new cool and cute pet…because I can and I will use it, whether you like it or not. Playing a game is about having fun not about what other people say someone should run. Good day.

Possibility of optional Hard Mode?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Yeah, the same rewards but maybe a bit of extra gold or something, but nothing that will make non-hard mode players have an issue with. Just something for people who want to try a harder AC dungeon than face-rolling through it all. Having options for different challenging things would be good for the game. Or slightly boost the chance of item drops from mobs in them versus normal but the same items will drop in normal as they would in hard mode. Just something that I believe the devs could think on and come to a decision on. Imagine a hard mode Arah! haha :P, that could be quite interesting.

I’m not too worried, I believe this will allow more builds to be useful since pure zerker won’t be what people will desire. It will give players who like to use knights armor and such the chance to get groups more than some random pug group who isn’t running zerker. How often do you see normal groups seeking just regular players that isn’t a LFzerkersx? Usually when I’m bored and want to do a dungeon all I see is, players looking for just zerker players. Yeah, the meta will change but it’ll allow more builds like we were able to see in GW1 for group content. I hope that Anet goes back to more of how GW1 was with group builds, allowing more diversity but this time every player can be able to keep someone alive rather than just purely DPSing the daylights out of everything as fast as they can. This will allow more tactical thinking which would be a good thing. We should all stop worrying til the expac drops and we see for ourselves what it’s actually going to be like. Nothing gets done by worrying about stuff. Just go prepare different sets and play with different builds while we wait for the new content and experiment with it!

Possibility of optional Hard Mode?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Itzpapalotl.5802

So, in GW1 Anet released the ability to choose the Hard mode option for content. I think being able to choose to do a hard mode dungeon or even possibly raids having a hard mode would be great for the game for replay-ability. Those who aren’t interested in doing Hard mode won’t be forced to do it. Leave the difficulty of the base game how they design it and just have the option to play a Hard mode if we so choose?

Would this even be easy for them to code into the the instanced areas such as living story and dungeons? I know with GW1, it was much easier because all but the towns were instanced zones, so I can see how easy it would be to have that. But I’m not sure if they could do that with the instanced areas for GW2. If anybody from Anet could even think about adding this in the future, that could be really fun for those who want to do a harder version of a dungeon instead of just resorting to fractals for a challenge for smaller organized group activities.

The Not So Obvious Gear grind

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Itzpapalotl.5802

Itzpapalotl.5802

It’s really not a grind. What Anet said, is that you will never have to get higher tiered gear to complete newer content. The gear treadmill they’re talking about is what is in WoW. New raids requiring higher tiers of gear to do more damage, soak more damage, and heal damage, I.E. holy trinity. GW2 has no holy trinity and has a gear plateau that stays the same. Even if you bring up Ascended gear, it really isn’t much of a different in anything stat wise. If you’re a min-maxer that is trying to squeeze the most out of gear, then getting ascended armor or even legendary armor in the future will be a goal.

Any gear higher than exotic will not make exotic ever be obsolete. They never promised that you won’t have to get more than one set of armor. What Anet promised, is you will never need more than exotic armor and weapons to do any content at any point. Anything else is purely cosmetic and for something to do or achieve for yourself. You have to learn to adapt, things change. GW2 won’t always be static as much as they had us believe the past 3 years, but change is good. How do you know you won’t enjoy playing the game differently outside of zerker meta? You could be surprised. Just go with the roll! If you’re concerned with the cost of a new set of armor, trinkets, and weapons. Spend 20 bucks on gems and buy the stuff you need. You will more than likely have plenty of gold to get a new set, and you will still be able to keep your zerker set for when the time arises that you can still use it.

Will Reaper have a place in PVE ?

All the above points that have been presented are well and true, but.. You have to remember, that just because a Necro comes in on low DPS, doesn’t make it useless. Yes, it can do what other classes can do, but less effectively in regards to certain buffs. Necro also have a high chance of surviving a near wipe and reviving their teammates versus other classes at times. I have managed to save my team numerous times just because of how well my build could dish out DoTs on top of regular damage from abilities. I can get my bleed ticks well over 1k per second..over a set amount of time..that is a lot of damage, not just from burst damage or damage coming from the skills alone.

The issue is that the Necro class has underwhelming damage upfront, and a lot of people aren’t satisfied with that. They want immediate results with their damage, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but also there is nothing wrong with the way Necro deal damage either. To each their own.

Not taking a Necro is a party leader’s right or the group’s right to choose who they want to play with. Players have to remember that just because something is chosen as meta doesn’t mean it’s the only way to play the game. Back before Arah became a cake walk, I took my Necro. The rest of the group was a Mesmer, Warrior, Guardian and we swapped out for Thief, depending on the path we did. We cleared a single Arah path in less than 30 minutes, but this was also a long time ago. It’s all about how well you work as a team and how you play the class, that will determine success. Just because you take a full zerk team into a dungeon doesn’t always guarantee a fast and speedy run. There is always the chance that something bad happens and you waste X amount of time.

For the Reaper, I didn’t play the BWEs at all, but from what I’ve seen of the spec, it will be useful. Usefulness will be determined by whoever is in the group, but it shouldn’t be out for the count. I imagine that Anet has mechanics with HoT, in store to make all the classes be useful, even for those who play a strict zerker meta now. What works now, probably won’t work in HoT just due to the increased AI of mobs and whatnot. Zerker gear can’t take very many hits, and to survive with a glass cannon you need to be quick on your feet or die trying. We will all find out very soon what will have to change and what we will have to keep for those who like to play with an elitist view of the game, as well as others who aren’t into pure meta builds.

$50 for the expansion? I showed them...

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Itzpapalotl.5802

You all do realize..that it isn’t only just up to Anet, for what they charge for their game right? NCSoft can pretty much tell Anet they have to do something or drop sponsoring their game altogether..yeah 50 bucks might seem high to a lot of people, but to me..50 is what I’ve always expected from GW expansions. GW1 expansions were 50 bucks, besides EoTN, so I didn’t expect any different. They’re constantly adding more content through living story. They will build on what HoT has and go from there. If anything, they should have added all LS episodes for free with the expansion so brand new players as well as players who came in before HoT, can get caught up on everything instead of having to buy them, to truly catch up.

I played GW1 since vanilla and I am one of the veterans who isn’t upset about the pre-purchase pricing. It is, what it is. I think people may be a bit premature with all their gripes, we will see what all there is in the expansion in time, and we will continue to see the story unfold through the expansion. There will continue to be content regardless of how much this expansion costs. It won’t release for quite a bit of time yet..Expect an August release if we go by the initial GW2 release.

If people really can’t spend 50 bucks on an expansion then they shouldn’t be gaming at all, honestly. Some PC games are going to cost 50 bucks expansion or not, anyway. The amount of content won’t matter, it just depends on the company developing the game. For console games, they usually cost 50 bucks for like a Playstation game and that game is all you get for good til they release another sequel to it that will cost another 50 bucks. Say you buy Assassins Creed, it cost you 50 bucks and you got maybe 100 hours of a first play through, all you have left for that game is to keep playing it over and over, with it never really changing. PC gaming is far cheaper than console gaming is, in regards to the games themselves, and also offer more.

I understand a lot of people think it’s unfair, but what is all this complaining really going to do anyway? They most likely cannot change their pricing but they can alter what they put into the package for pre-purchasing.

Can't buy gems via Credit Card....

Hello,

I tried buying 20 dollars worth of gems a few moments ago, but when I click confirm an error message would pop up. Being unable to read the message as it would disappear almost immediately as soon as I would click confirm, I tried re-entering my card information and verifying everything was correct and I clicked everything that needed clicking. I continued to receive the message which was “Unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later.” Is there an issue going on with the gem store lately involving credit card options?

Ok, I get home tonight to log in and the client tells me 0% loading. So I wait a moment more and the client tells me in red lettering that there is connectivity errors, yet I can connect to my internet, teamspeak and other programs that require and internet connection. I delete the GW2 client and try to reinstall and it tells me “Download failed! Please check your internet connectivity.” I have an internet connection! I do not understand why it will not allow me to install the client again when other guild mates of mine are not having any issues connecting. What is going on??
