I totally agree with the OP ( Percival <3 <3 <3 ).
The BLs are terrible. I actually like PvE events in WvW as it gets some other portions of the community to join in. It should NOT however be a map changing event.
Yes, there are chokepoints and narrow passages which are great for tactical use. However, they are EVERYWHERE. Fighting a larger force in a choke point isn’t smart use of the terrain when you have no choice.
All the cheesy “gimmicks” (perfect word for it, Selwynn!) are just silly. The shrine buffs seemed ok, but the jumping puzzles, gusts of wind, crazy “PvE boss” lord abilities and the like are misplaced in WvW.
The guild claiming, upgrades and stronger camps all really hurt the lower population servers right in the gonads. When your prime time zerg is 15-20, not being able to count on a solo here and there working camps is a real blow. They could at least scale things for server size.
I think your absolutely incorrect about choke points. Funneling a large force into them is precisely where you want to fight against st a large force. Which is why very many were demanding more choke point ts when new maps were comming.
I wasn’t very clear. I meant yes, you want to force a fight at the chokepoints with a larger force BUT it isn’t smart play when its all choke points… you have no choice. There is no thinking in it at all. Its like saying someone is playing smart by rolling a bowling ball down the alley instead of across several alleys

The new auto pilot upgrade system needs to go. It was much better when human interaction + supplies from dolyaks were required for upgrades.
And of course I want the old Alpine borderland back. I have had fights in the new borderland, but zero fun fights besides 1 vs 1 duels, which you can have on any kind of map given the right opponent. The new map simply isn’t fun to play. Eternal Battlegrounds is now the only place to be in WvWvW.
This.
1) The new BLs are basically a PVE zone. “oooo scarier guards and tougher bosses!”
2) The upgraded camps make it hard for low pop servers to flip ANYTHING. It also makes the tactic of drawing off some of a larger force by hitting camps more difficult because you need to send more people. When your prime time zerg is 15 people, having to send 3 instead of 1 to flip a camp is a major issue.
3)The new meta-event rewards PvE in WvW at a ridiculous level. I am actually for PvE events helping in WvW as it gets more of the community out into the BLs. However, the current event is way to over the top. Really? Blow up both doors on keeps??? Why even bother with siege.
4) The lay of the land and fortresses are annoying as hell. Not only is it tiresome to run around these mazes, it also make 2/3 of the map a narrow choke point. It used to be part of the WvW game to pick areas to fight, to choose choke points and such. Now every 20 feet there is a chokepoint. The new “choose the field of battle” is to try to run to guards and let the PvE mobs help win the fight.
The BLs are just terrible for WvW. They would make great PvE zones, but as a WvW sandbox, they are really, really, really bad.
I run this with Valkyrie armor for more survivability. I rely on fury, signet w/ precision, intelligence sigil for regular crits as the bursts are already guaranteed to crit.
Something to try when raging is on cool down – use killshot followed by signet to insta recharge adrenaline and use raging burst as it come off cd.

If you want to help your fellow Rangers out, you can use the LFG system to help them. If you are near or at one of the new pets, flag LFG with a message such as “AT SMOKESCALE PET” Someone did this yesterday and they are my hero. She was grinding Mastery Exp, saw them and flagged.
Stealth gyro, as many have pointed out, has several issues with pathing, priorities and movement speed. I think an easy fix would be to have it “insta-cast” a buff on the engineer from range that gives him an aoe stealth effect. This would keep the stealth aoe centered on the engineer and not on the buggy pathing gyro. You could limit its casting range to whatever seemed to work to avoid it simply become Mass Invis 2
All we really need is a “stow lock” that allows stow to continue in combat until you use a pet command. This solves all of these complaints
I’ve noticed most folks post their builds with a link to gwskills.
Is there a fix for viewing people’s gwskills.net builds on iPhone /iPad? I get a semitransparent pop up like thing that prevents me from interacting (like switching to English) and the build never fills in.
Kind of OT, but is there a fix for viewing people’s gwskills.net builds on iPhone /iPad? I get a semitransparent pop up like thing that prevents me from interacting (like switching to English) and the build never fills in.
