For those of you that get the reference (for those who don’t, google it), that quest in a certain MMO, was alot of fun right? I wish ArenaNet would introduce dynamic quests like that and not just the usual ‘protect this guy’ and ‘kill these guys’. The quests in that certain MMO also had a lot more emphasis on the use of items to complete goals, which I really enjoyed.
I’ve only just bought GW2 and I’ve been impressed with everything but the quests, which IMO feel lackluster and repetitive. IMO if ArenaNet could improve on the questing system, GW2 could become the most successful MMO (with minor adjustments to dungeons). Great graphics, great combat system AND great quests (skilling/crafting included)? That’s something NONE of the biggest MMOs have achieved so far.
I have to say, Runescape has some of the best quests out of all the MMOs out there. I have only recently bought GW2 and while the main story line is nice and all, it lacks in content and ‘fun’. Upon hitting max combat level, there is very little incentive to play the game (100% map completion and acquiring a Legendary is tedious) while the same cannot be said about Runescape. The reason why Runescape has succeeded for over 10 years is because of its fluid, dynamic, exciting quests. One such example that I have thoroughly enjoyed is ‘Monkey Madness’ (google it). I completed this quest in 2009 and to this day, it is still my benchmark for all MMO quests.
Please take the time to research Runescape quests and know that I am not here to hate on GW2 but to simply improve it so that I can permanently enjoy it.
P.S I’M ONLY LEVEL 62 CURRENTLY AND WHILE I AM ENJOYING THE MAIN STORY LINE (I’M STILL AT LEVEL 30 BECAUSE I ENJOY EXPLORING AND MAP COMPLETION) I AM GETTING THE FEELING THAT ONCE I COMPLETE IT I’LL FEEL VERY BORED. ALSO PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME ON SOME LEVEL 80 OBJECTIVES.
