Games and their forums are not exempt from the Communications decency act.
That may be true, but it doesn’t support your point, in my analysis of CDA s 230.

Slander is spoken; you’re thinking of libel. And we are talking about a game here.
Speaking of the game, where’s a score update? Would be nice if someone posted one.
Those dedicated SoS mezzers; hiding in all those tricky-to-find places in BlueBriar. Did no-one sweep? I miss all the good fights.

Ugh. It’s painful fighting for JQ at the moment.
Today I watched 90% of our zerg run off to fight the grub on EB. Meanwhile, we lost half the EB map. Folks were prioritizing 8 badges over fighting as a zerg. (Yes, badge drops are that poor, ArenaNet.) Within a half hour, we lost the keep on EB, just as we were getting a WayPoint.
It boggles my mind how ArenaNet has managed to make PvE more compelling content than PvP in a game called “Guild Wars”.
Before the patch last night, we were hanging in there. I came back from the patch to find they’d allowed the score to tick while nobody was on the map. After that, we just didn’t have the numbers.
To arms JQ; check the score!
P/P was simply not adequately addressed. And the rest of these … meh.
Whatever you do, don’t read about what happened with other classes …
Blue also has the natural disadvantage of the champion overgrown grub, which has a distracting effect. <sigh>“Grubs up! Let’s all focus on PvE!”</sigh>
These changes have made things worse, not better. Others have explained better than I.
I’m not sure why you’re culling. Is it to keep an equal footing for graphics hardware? If so, you should be able to use low-geometry models like spheres to represent entities that would otherwise be culled.
If you’re doing it because you’re sending around UDP packets, or something, and you only have so many bytes to work with for serializing player info; well then, you’re going to have to rethink your protocols. Send less data per player. I would rather see a blob that’s the correct color of the enemy (or ally) than see nothing at all, so don’t bother sending me the bytes to tell me what armor they’re wearing.
Whether you’re doing this for graphics performance, network performance, or both — you’re missing the point, I think, with this update. We want to be more aware of the numbers and position of folks around us. Not more aware of group X v. group Y.
Still waiting for a resolution on this from arenanet.
If you’re a non-thief in here complaining about Stealth, may I direct you over to this thread:

Here’s my feedback about the thief and its gameplay: Prove you’re actually listening to us by engaging in discussion here. Otherwise, I have to assume that you’re just setting up the pretense for another round of class-destroying changes.
ArenaNet, If you want to engage in discussion with people about something, don’t just make a post, let it get up to hundreds of responses, and then say “thanks for your input.”
Maybe, you know, actually have a developer engaging in actual discussion with folks here. Responding to comments. Making it clear that you’re not just creating the illusion of giving a kitten about people’s responses.
Most of the things I’ve read here have been discussed to death in previous threads. Yet we’ve never gotten an official response. Now we have to shout them, again, in a thread where you are supposedly listening to us. But I’m not seeing the kind of engaged discussion from ArenaNet that I’d expect if someone was actually listening.
Your customers are paying attention to the level of your customer service. There will be — and are — other games. If you want folks to stick around and buy your gems, you need to seriously step up your active engagement in these forums.

I’m also waiting for resolution. They’ve effectively punted this down the road by failing to do anything about it before the long U.S. Thanksgiving weekend. They’re probably hoping to put some distance between this and the actual resolution, which is probably something horribly disappointing for those who lost out (like I did) on the chest because of an ArenaNet bug. Hours of time invested, robbed of the rewards due to ArenaNet, and nothing done about it.
Just let folks know about your experiences with this game. Word of mouth is a powerful thing.
Dont’ feel bad; some of us participated in the event and got kicked out of the overflow due to ArenaNet having buggy code, and got nothing. Not a bag; not a trinket. Not even a few yellow items to pay for having all of our armor destroyed.
And now we’ve received absolutely no update since Sunday on what they’re doing to make this right.
If they can’t even communicate about the folks who got nothing at all, do you really think they’re going to consider the folks who got something, but just not as much as others?
If you consider that ArenaNet’s primary source of revenue of you from GW2 at this point is selling you Gems, then the act of giving out as many precursors as possible makes a lot of sense — it makes a lot of folks want to buy Gems to buy the mats to complete their legendaries. It’s a government stimulus program.
I personally won’t put a dime into this game or encourage anyone to play it until I see a sign that ArenaNet is making good on their promise to right the wrong of Sunday’s debacle. Having read nothing in the announcements since then suggests they aren’t going to be able to make this right, and want to put some distance between the event and when they announce some sort of minor compensation for their buggy code ruining the event for a significant portion of the player base.
Would appreciate a status update for arenanet.

No appreciation here for ArenaNet, but the players were great. My group tried to help me problem solve my getting booted from the original map. They were quite compassionate of how unfair it was that I got stuck in the geometry and couldn’t get back.
And thanks to those who invited me into an overflow through the thread on here today, trying to get me back on track. We worked together through another 2 hours of the event, only to get kicked off again.
Absolutely horrible experience, ANet. No appreciation here for this event; I’d feel differently, of course, if I hadn’t gotten screwed over twice. No doubt you’ll find folks who got items worth 250g singing songs of praise on here. Try not to let it go to your head — you did poorly.
“You code bad, and you should feel bad.”
Presumably you were having fun, dying repeatedly, in that poorly designed event. So they had to issue a patch to boot you from the event, for your own good.
Yep, client crash at PRECISELY 12pm CST.
I was excited to have a second chance at this event, as I’d been robbed of the reward in the event earlier in the day because I got stuck in the geometry thanks to the buggy zone design; one step away from finishing the event that time.
You should see the rage in the /map chat. This is a huge public relations debacle.
“The world you are attempting to join is full. Please try to have your party member join you in your world. (Code=33:9:13:926:101). The same message I got after being booted earlier today. Ugh
I’d like an invite. Lost out on reward early due to overflow/geometry issue after 3 hours of effort.
OK, we have folks posting in here telling people to “log on” and they can still get into this event.
For folks like myself, who invested 3 hours into this thing earlier today, and got booted out and never got the reward, this leads to some HOPE.
However, I’m not finding that to be the case. SO mods, clear up the misinformation on here —- clarify what is really going on.
There was nothing good about this “boss” event. No strategy was necessary. No thinking. Just endless waves of the same boring creatures. It went on far too long, and it was horribly buggy.
It’s like ArenaNet had the pros design the Halloween event, and left this event for the summer interns.
If you praise ArenaNet for this dreck content, you’ll get what you deserve — more dreck.
Like Charlie Brown in the Peanut’s Halloween Special, “I got a rock.”
Well, not even that. Actually, they prevented me from getting to the chest after “investing” my time in the “entertaining” event.
I’ll repay ArenaNet by not investing another cent in one of their products. :-)
Same exact issue. Ended up stuck due to “steal” thief skill teleporting me into this crevice.
My feedback is that I lost out on the rewards for three hours worth of work because you can’t seem to (1) create geometry that doesn’t get players stuck; and (2) manage to reconnect people back to the correct overflow system.
I don’t mind wasting my time for entertainment. But this was far from entertaining.
You’ve absolutely ruined the positive impression I had of this game.
After arriving on time, (what a great idea, to make an event for people to plan their lives around!), and wasting multiple hours in a snooze event (unbelievably boring — your game designers are just “Phoning it in” at this point), I was cheated out of the reward by your poor quality control.
Why didn’t you anticipate things like people getting disconnected? Or getting trapped in the game geometry? How hard would it be to actually test this stuff out?
My “FUN”: I used the thief skill ‘steal’ during the Sunday event, right at the end, on the trapped gas. Hit F1; oops; guess what now? TRAPPED in the geometry; I’m INSIDE the gas area; can’t run out. Trapped. I can’t even travel to a waypoint. It says I’m ‘in combat’. I logged to character select and back, hoping that would help; nope, it bounced me to another overflow. And it wouldn’t let me rejoin my party because it said that server was full, (and gave an error code.)
