Hammer isn’t that useful in PVE unfortunatly – the damage is sub par, and while the cc can be nice at times for groups of mobs, if your group is strugling with trash packs the chances are it’s in trouble anyway.

I’m not much of a pve’r but from memory there are plenty of viable PVE Warrior specs, but most use GS and Axe/Mace if I remember rightly

I mean seriously, these forums are at best average for readability anyway, and without the abilty to call other guilds/servers blobbers/hackers/griefers in a public space this dimisnishes.

Bay far the best forums I’ve ever had the pleasure to troll on were the WHA forums, a place where moderation came to die. The threads were amusing, the characters unforgettable and the bashing of Legio/Unnamed/Moonlapse gave players from both sides common ground. People still speak in hushed tones about the ‘Boozie hackpak self own’ and ‘that Bruglir’ thread. By comparison the GW2 forums are sanitised and over-moderated enough.

This gives us an opportunity to move the forum population to a place where ‘There be internet trolls’. I’d rather read about Gandalf (gandara) calling out Tankolation guilds, Far Shiverpeaks guilds moaning about Gunnar’s Handhold living upto it’s name and SFR arguing with every other server than some random boring posting about ‘which spec is better for pve lolz’

Let’s take this as blessing. We have the chance to move to a place where we can freely troll, flame and abuse each other like no other whilst we while away our working days waiting for 17:30 to hit so we can go home and kill each other in game.

The point I believe the OP was trying to make was every single other aspect of the game that others enjoy is more rewarding and there is no real reason for that.

A fair enough point – but lets be honest, the WvW crowd is often a bit more organised than the PvE crowd (Guild raids, GvG etc) and does alot more to bring a server together than randomly auto-attacking mobs does (Community TS, massive PUG raids etc). Much of this crowd will still do WvW even with no rewards, and thus Anet sees an inelsastic demand for long term WvW spots with regards to loot on offer. I doubt this is the same for the PvE crowd

Bear in mind I play in an organised WvW guild that runs 20-25 in it’s raids. Timed burst etc is called for . I have’t made any videos myself, but you can see the kind of thing we do here:

POV is another necro in guild running very similar gear and spec – I’n in his group for a lot of the fights (Jalari) and you can see just how often I have fury/stab when needed by shroud dancing, then launching into dps cycles

This is sort of a damage-oriented well build. I like the way it tries to deal good damage while still trying to retain survivability through the passives like Lemongrass, its own stability and just enough armor to prevent it from being easy rallybait. It’s a bit to backline-ish for my play style (which is probably not as effective as this style, to be honest) but I can see how effective a few of these working together can be… a mass well bomb of boon strip, chill, blind. Wreck a hammer train. Personally, I’d be tempted to run SWall instead of WoS for increased disruption/dwell time on the other wells.

In an ideal setup with 25, we’d have 4-5 Necros using this – the aoe burst is insane. This is where WOS comes into play – with the amount of lockdown we have with our eles and the chill from our Necros we can normally burst down a clump of people with 1 stacked burst cooldown. The main issue with this spec is the lack of stunbreak – but then again with Melandru runes and lemongrass the stuns barely last anyway.

In the video, towards the end you can see me go down when I make a mistake and try to res one of our eles. If I’d played this right, I should have been further south and keeping the aoe pressure on the south of the bridge before pushing for the res. With DS as a ‘get out of jail’ tool, I really only end up using prolongd DS when attempting to burst down multiple downed foes

Loving 0/20/0/20/30 atm , with full zerker/cav gear and trinkets. Idea is to shroud dance for stab/fury and use staff/axe with either dagger or horn until wells are called for – drop the bomb then straight into plague

the only thing to HoB I have to say is: learn wvw!
every fight we had against you were next to your spawn and it was a 15 vs 50
so I don’t understand how you can enjoy wvw when all of you play with a pvt-armor!

I assume this is a troll post , or, judging from the fact your guild doesn’t ring a bell you’re a pve scrub that has come into wvw for the first time and got rolled by a guild that runs 20-25. HoB maxed out at 25 this week – and ask any of the WvW guild on your server – we run solo

Don’t usually post on these forums as 90% of posts are blobbers complaining of being blobbed, morons kittening and random generic lootbag trolling, but it’s good to see some considered views every now and then.

Props to SCND – we’ve seen you actively avoid fights where we’re fighting DSD etc, it’s nice to see you’ve continued on the traditions that once made Piken different. Does Sylas still play? I haven’t been rude to him in at least a month, it’s proabably about time to pop over to your TS to do so…

PS have managed to get plenty of ZvW-oriented guilds, so once everybody is tired of wiping to their invisible (yay culling) zergs (which seem to be everywhere) there will be nothing to do. For all 3 servers, actually. I really wish A-net were able to desing WvW to be more about strategy and not simply ‘who has most zergs on 24/7’ but oh well. It was fun the first two weeks.

Yes I am. Add the puggers and it’s 25-30. Hardly not a zerg. And when you have a couple of those on every map there’s really no incentive to do anything. I mean, what are you guys going to do once the entire map is green, dance in SM for the rest of the week? That’s quality WvW entertainment right there

I wasn’t saying culling didn’t affect everyone, it’s just that it makes zerg warfare, as bland as it is on its own, even less competitive and less fun.

I can sort of see your point – but I think it might just be frustration at the culling that’s providing this, and in that I can empathise.

The thing is, would you rather fight:

a) 4-5 groups of 25 in a map that are doing thier best to roam
b) 2 50+ blobs, with maybe one guild group of 20?

Now culling aside, I think most people would rather want to fight (a) – certainly being part of an organisational force that runs on that structure is more fun for me.

I think here the issue is, if you can’t even see the group of 25 due to culling etc, then being bombed by each of these groups around the map can get frustrating as it’ll seem as if you’re constantly being zerged by countless invisible enemies. That being said, fighting against (b), this will happen less often as there are less “blobs” about.

Either way, as I’ve said, based on the above I can see your point, but I think you’re doing a diservice to the organised Piken guilds that are doing their best to roam by referring to them as “zergs” – from my understanding, zergs in this game tend to have a playstyle more like (b) than (a) – karma trains if you will.

Anyway, enough sensible discussion, let’s let the trolls from both servers have their topic back.

Enough is enough. Piken Square is now reporting every single player who abuses a bug or exploits in this WvW match.
What the HELL happened the last 2 days? AM have just randomly started abusing the bugs and limitations of the game to gain the upperhand.
Cullmarching 10 golems?
Portal Bombing?

These are limitations of the games (rather crappy) render engine.
Stop abusing them, we’ve had enough of it. What you are doing is cheating, and we’ve agreed to report every single player we find doing it (or as many as we can SEE, considering more than half of them don’t even load).

It looks to me like AM wants to get as much out of this kitteny engine before the fix later today, but its not fun for anyone.

What they’re doing is legit under the current system. It’s not ideal no, it’s difficult to deal with yes, but portal bombing is not exploiting in the strictest sense of the word, it’s taking advantage of game mechanics (same as turtling etc)

Piken primetime force = strongest (more pvp focused guilds of decent size)
Gunnars later night force (01:00-03:00) = strongest most nights
AM’s early morning/day force = strongest

Though primetime piken lead is normally only a small amount, you still have the stronger forces that pick on the weakest enemy (good tactic but annoying as that means it me as i pick outmanned bl ) … though will you hold onto the lead you got through the weekend? Hmmm not sure. Think the day and/or night difference will mean you lose it to one of the others if not both… but you are far from being the weekest server.

Definately going to be a very good week. I been doing PvE so far today but hope to play some WvW later as been fun each day so far

We (as in Piken) have been expanding our daytime forces – we’ve had a Russian Alliance join from Vabbi in the last day, so AM may well have some competition during daylight hours.

Fun fights this week, it’s nice seeing some old familiar names about

I can see you’re point, however it is commonly accepted that “primetime” is considered the evening – eg TV guides list “primetime television” as c 19.00 to 23.00.

It’s during these hours that Piken have been utterly dominant. However, as you say, AM may well have a greater presence in daytime, and less of one in “primetime”
