Feedback: Guild Wars 2 Mac 64-Bit Client

Firts of all, thank you very much for this!
I was on the verge of buying a new PC when I heard you were working on a native client… which, appart from being an excellent news, has been a money saviour to me!!

And High Res Textures… Oh my have I longed this one!

Many bugs and issues have been reported here, so I won’t be repeating what has already been said but two main points that prevent me from labelling this new client “entirely playable, let’s rock” :

1. Lack of resolution options. Due to my Specs (MBP retina mid12 – i7 2,3Ghz, 8go ram, GT 650M) I found that the sweet spot between perf and appearance was a 1690×1050. The only way I’ve found so far to play this resolution on the 64 client was to change the resolution directly in Os settings and turn it back on when finished playing. Not the best solution…

2. French keyboard not supported. I’m using a french keyboard (azerty) and keybinding only seems to recognize the us keyboard (qwerty). So, even if rebinding keys is not an issue, somes keys (like @ which is on top left to 1 and up to the tab buttons) are unavailable, making rebinding quite difficult. Changing keyboard settings did’t change a thing.

Voilà… I guess you have a lot on you plate right now, but I really hope you’ll find time to look into this.

Thanks a million for all the good work!

Is there a 64-bit Mac client?
Unfortunately, a 64-bit Mac client is not available at this time. We are hoping to be able to provide one in the future, but have no timeline to provide it.

Please! Pretty please!!

[MAC] GW2 transition to metal on mac?

So… any thought on that or are all Devs focused on HoT right now?

Not a complaint though, but I think we all mac users would like some “official” answer as whether we can upgrade to future OS El Capitan or we’ll forever be stuck on Yosemite…

i think they should tone it down a bit maybe while you are idle standing have it shrinked and then if your in combat it gets bigger then.

How often do you stand idle while in Death Shroud?

Ele Elite Specialisation - The Tempest?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: JamesKBarley.6087

JamesKBarley.6087

Exactly. The other lines aren’t specialization but the base skills of your profession (they gave the exemple of signets for warriors)…

So when you’re leveling your char, you’ll decide to spend hero points in a category (say signets) to get all the signets skills to choose for your utilities. It replaces the previous skill points system where you had to spend these points to acquire skills. And as skill points will be removed…

And Tempest might just be the trait line for the Elite skill “Tornado”… which is a tempest…

Just to be clear, I never said I liked the trinity! I’m quite happy with the game as it is

Then again, not a traditional way of tanking but a guildwarsy one!

We have bunker guardians in sPvP which kinda works that way. Being able to use Defiance on yourself and cast, say, a AOE taunt (speculation here, mind you), would also be a way of tanking, especially PvP, giving your team a precious few seconds to turn the tide of a battle.

And you’re right about saying tanking in pve is more than boring but I didn’t say anything about aggro

But IMO, it would only ever happen as a specific mechanic for specific fights, not as some across-the-board thing.

Good point

I see…

I see Taunt being added to the gameplay, even though it doesn’t work as in other mmos, it still it what it is.
I see Defiance being a new feature for players to use.
I see Jon Peters saying “A lot of people assumed we didn’t want the trinity. It wasn’t an anti-trinity.”
I see…

I see Tank Specialization coming!

Whether it is Guardian or Warrior Spec, or even Revenant for all we know… but these are all tank class mechanics that are appearing all of a sudden, so… one might wonder!

Not saying it’s a bad or good thing… Or maybe I’m wrong

I’ll even buy it for gems! X00 gems for an account wide unlock; hell, give it X00 gems per extra build (sounds like a rip-off, but I’d take anything at this point)

PLEASE don’t give them such ideas!! lol

Will there be a Mac version?

Mac user too, and I think the expansion will run as smoothly too.
Just hope there’s not gonna be any delay… let’s wait for confirmation.

Im curious how they have solved that backbar swapping. From a logic point of view every channel (assuming reve has f1-4) will get a different backbar that should have their own cd on these skills just like ele wep skills. At this point does it mean they get access to 4 healing and elite skills in combat? That actually sounds crazy op.

Easy way to balance that: longer CDs on F1-4 channeling.

Interview: 1 specialization per profession

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

JamesKBarley.6087

I think most people thought (once again) that Anet was to copy all that we’ve already seen and experienced in other (mmo)rpgs that is : once you reach a certain level, you come to a choice of specialization of your class, with a treelike chain of skills to be added from each choice.

That’s where people got confused I think. Anet doesn’t want to reuse whatever had already been used over and over again in other games.

To my understanding, specialization is like they said, a secondary profession but one that is not gonna undermine or override the existing primary professions.

For exemple, Rangers will always remain rangers and their role in a group as a ranger will remain as useful as before. It is just that, if a situation requires it, or if a player would rather play differently at some point, they could change into a Druid and change back if they feel like too.

I don’t see a monk specialization, we already have Tome of Courage for that which is way enough

You assume to know a lot about druids, and may be you do.

But do you know a lot about GW2 druids ? Devs clearly said that you would encounter druids in this expansion but they never said that they were a copy of the common image of a druid we all have in our minds

It might just be a name like that.

Remember how they entirely redesigned the Sylvari race just because they seemed too “elvish” to them.

I don’t think Anet is willing to copy any existing stuff we’re used to… think outside the box guys, outside the box

Specialization = Trinity?

JamesKBarley.6087

Even an optional trinity would prove useless. Most professions are versatile enough to do that already.

I think what’s expecting us is something quite new and Anet clearly proved that they were able to think outside the box.

So forget your wowy rpgy old druid and embrace innovation

I play GW2 on Mac. It works perfectly fine! I don’t play with every graphic options set at max though, but I don’t play with the low spec settings either and it looks very very fine. Not the best, but as a non-PC user and GW2 player, this is the dream lol

And yes, I would be very disappointed if there was no mac version for HoT…

When will mac Beta stop being a Beta?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: JamesKBarley.6087

JamesKBarley.6087

Well it’s almost a year since Mac Beta went out and, to me, it’s worked wonders!

And I’m sure running gw2 on Bootcamp would add 1 or 2 FPS here and there, but honestly, it saves us the sacrifice of a 70ish GB partition (especially if you’re running SDD like me) and the pain of running Windows…

Question is: well why is it still a beta?
